    Rev: 6:14 "Then the stars of the sky fell to the earth like green figs falling from a tree shaken by a strong wind."

    The Lamb breaks the first six seals, the first of 3 seven-part judgments:

    Sixth seal - The figurative description shows that there was a great earthquake and the foundations of churches and states would be terribly shaken. Theses events will declare the end of the world and the day of judgment. It seems that the overthrow of the paganism of the Roman empire is here meant.

    HI John is recording the vision he saw and his vision is the same one Isaiah saw in ch 34 which is on the same day; they day of Gods wrath. When you accumulate all passages about the 2nd coming there are many very specific elements to it. The nations have gathered at the valley of Megido. The Antichrist has committed the abomination of desolation at the 3.5 year mark of the 7 year period. The mark of the beast has been installed. The two prophets have raised havoc for 3.5 years and were killed and raised to heaven for the whole world to see.

    The signs in the heavens John saw he describes as best he can and after saying the stars fell to earth the sky rolls up as a scroll. He is describing something we have never seen. Here is how Isaiah put it, 1 Come near, you nations, to hear;

    And heed, you people!

    Let the earth hear, and all that is in it,

    The world and all things that come forth from it.

    2 For the indignation of the LORD is against all nations,

    And His fury against all their armies;

    He has utterly destroyed them,

    He has given them over to the slaughter.

    3 Also their slain shall be thrown out;

    Their stench shall rise from their corpses,

    And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

    4 All the host of heaven shall be dissolved,

    And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll;

    All their host shall fall down

    As the leaf falls from the vine,

    And as fruit falling from a fig tree.

    I have seen an asteroid shower and they are cool but far off and I have seen a large fireball blow through the sky. If john saw thousands of fire balls raining down through the atmosphere like figs falling or leaves falling he would only know to say the stars were falling. The language and the science did not offer him other verbage. This event is the 2nd coming of Jesus and does occur after a specific 7 year period.

    The element s for the 7 year tribulation are clearly set up now. Israel is a nation, global government is forming and this government want to divide Israel and Jerusalem. The middle of the 7 year period the anti chirst has to put an end to the daily sacrifices being made by the Jews. They have not done these sacrifices since 70AD. The Temple Institute has replicated everything necessary for them to start up again and they have trained priest ready to start right now. The Bible in Hosea 3 clearly associates the return of the sacrifice with the end times.

    4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, without ephod or teraphim. 5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They shall fear the LORD and His goodness in the latter days

    Think about it you are discounting the 2nd coming for your interpretation that stars cannot fall to earth. The other specific elements that are associated with this day are lined up now and it took over 1800 years for the table to be so set. The vision JOhn and Isaiah had will not fail and in the day the Lord returns the earth will see great upheaval and if you are lucky enough to survive you will see something that you would describe as the stars falling to earth and the sky rolled back with great earthquakes.

    Here's what it says about the Sixth Seal: Cosmic Disturbances:

    - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

    The bible was written in terms we understand. And I take that to mean it looked like the stars were falling to earth. Have you ever been out at night during a shooting star event? I have, and it looks like stars are falling to earth. Really we are seeing points of light falling, which is really a meteor storm.

    But what I think Revelation is talking about is stars actually falling from the sky, much like a meteor storm, but that afterwards the stars are actually GONE. I believe the bible says at one point that one-third of the stars will be wiped away from the universe.

    When that happens, you will see the power of God at work. And then there should be no confusion in your mind about just how powerful God is.

    In the end, the bible says, "Every knee shall bow."

    =========== (Added from bible commentary)

    6:13 stars of heaven fell.

    The word “stars” can refer to any celestial body, large or small, and is not limited to normal English usage. The best explanation is a massive asteroid or meteor shower.

    Jesus is coming back. He kept every other promise, so that will be no exception.

    What's it to you anyway? If you are not part of Jesus' plans - not in the family -

    haven't you got something in your fabulous non-Christian life to get on with? No?

    . . . well gee ~ it can't be that good, and I'm glad I didn't get stuck in that life.

    You can either "bet your eternal life" on your understanding of that passage or you can consider a symbolic understanding of the word "stars". The Greek word here is "astér" (transliteration) which has a literal translation as "stars". It can also have a symbolic meaning of meteor or even missiles. The Golden Rule of Interpretation states, "When the plain sense of Scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense."

    The stars referred to, are humans in power, not heavenly bodies. It requires study to understand the book of Revelation.

    Revelation is written in allegorical and figurative language. So why are you insisting on a literal interpretation?

    Do we all know that?

    http://www.dictionary.com/browse/star

    Please note definition 3 - which was almost certainly the meaning employed by the Biblical author (the modern astronomical meaning of the word "star" simply was not in use at that time).
