I can't afford spaying my cat?
I rescued an orphan 4-week kitten last week. She is the most sweetest thing in the world! I started planning to spay her for her own health (obviously when she's older), and I can't find any less expensive options. I really want to give this stray kitten a chance because we are starting to become close, but I don't think I could afford a $80 spay surgery. Please help, what do you think I should do? I love in Ridgfield Park, New Jersey.

Be honest with yourself. If you cannot afford to spay (and $80 is cheap), then how will you afford food and other vet care? If you end up feeding poor quality foods, the kitten will likely have many medical problems in the future.
I know you want to keep this kitten, but its probably best to surrender to a shelter where she will be spayed and rehomed to someone that can afford the cat for life.
If you really want to keep this kitten, then call your local shelters and ask for low cost or free spaying - they may have a vet to do it a little cheaper. Average spaying is about $100 - some higher. $80 is darn cheap for spaying.

If you can't afford a spay surgery, how are you going to afford her vaccines and vet visit? What if she gets sick? It takes more than love to care for a pet - there is a financial responsibility that we accept when we take one in. She needs a vet exam, three FVRCP vaccines, worming and flea treatment - there is more to it than a spay. A spay is not really optional, nor is her vet care and vaccines. Consider surrendering her to a shelter, who WILL get her spayed and vaccinated, then when you are in a better position financially, then you can get a pet.

Is there a Humane Society in your town/county? Ours here will give you a voucher to take to the vet and the procedure only costs $40.00. (We've had to do this more than once.) If not, call some vets and see if there's any way to get a discount on it. If nothing else, see if they can sign you up for Care Credit. It's a godsend when you're broke.

Contact the local animal shelters they can get you a better price. I am sure you can save $4 a week to have it done.

Keep her inside untill you have enough money to have that done. You can ask a vet in town if he can get you a deal.

phone around the animal shelters near you & see if they can do it a bit cheaper , or if you can pay it in two instalments .
