Oxtail, is very tasty, but is needs cooking down a long time to made it tender so it falls off the bone, its a good dish for your slow cooker, perhaps with dumplings.

I only had it once is a pub in Scotland and it was very good but I am not a big soup person when I go out so I never had it again. I only had haggis once also, which I kick myself because it is like Kishka and I love that stuff. It goes to show you that you should try different foods and not take other people's opinions on them.

When I started out as a chef, it was dirt cheap, like chicken wings were back in the 1970's, it has grown in popularity, I made it alot as a chef, I like the Jamaican style one, we made them when I worked in Jamaica as chef at a hotel, now I get them here in Canada, but to buying them like some meats can be pricey, last time I saw them they were $4-5 a pound, here for the West Indian home market, they cut them thinner and call them quick cook only takes 2-3 hours to do, I prefer a rich brown gravy based sauce, I throw in a few bottles of non alcoholic dark beer called Malta for flavour
