They're two different things:
...chicken patty/patties are patty-shaped raw chicken in some texture plus other ingredients/seasonings and those are intended for frying/cooking before eating
...chicken pate/pâté is an almost "paste" of finely-chopped and usually cooked chicken or other meat plus perhaps other seasonings which is intended to be used as a dip or spread and won't need cooking before eating
