In professional references should you put the individuals degree to the side of their name (Ph.D/M.S.)?

If it’s part of their professional title.

    It would actually be

    John Smith, PhD (or Ph.D)

    Rose Tyler, MD

    Chris Jones, RN

    Tom Patel, JD

    Sara Kim, DPT

You never put Dr John Smith, MD in the US.

You wouldn’t put it, but in a letter of reference, it could be part of the signature.

    Elizabeth Chang, BSN, MBA

MBA, MHA, MFA - things get trickier here. Err on the side of caution as you don’t want to look like you’re padding your resume or overvaluing titles.

    I wouldn’t have a problem seeing

    Paul Nelson, MBA, but

You typically wouldn’t list degrees otherwise.

James Schwartz, BA is a no.
