Should I warm up before cardio exercise?

When I hit the elliptical for a good, peak intensity cardio work out, should I warm up first or is it okay to just set the machine to my desired settings and get going?

I normally reach cardio heart rate is 2-3 min and peak heart rate in less than 6 minutes.

You can warm up on the elliptical for a few minutes then increase the intensity. That's what I usually do and I don't do any stretches unless I'm using my weights.
