am I a failure?
I know of several people who have just become grandparents. I however have never raised a family to get the opportunity to be a grandparent. Does this make me a failure?

Maybe. But not because you didn't raise a family. You can always still be available to help others if they need it. If you have nieces or nephews or great nieces or great nephews perhaps their parents could use some help or a break.
If not there are many other important and meaningful things in life. Helping others is highly important and can be done in many ways.
Ultimately all humans are failures. That is why I trust Jesus to forgive my sin and lead me to salvation and eternal life.
You can to if you haven't already.

I don't think you're a failure- as your having never raised a family in itself is probably not enough as a prove of one's being a failure...and it's kind of a one- dimmensional way to look at one's life.
on the other hand, from the human point of view - it's definitelly frustrating, no doubt about it

No, it just leaves you out of a lot of the family hassles that might have caused trouble for you.

Failure is subjective to opinion. If you're in a relationship, you're made fun of for being a prisoner, if you're not, you're made fun of for being a loner. You can't win because the shallow in society, at least from their perspective, don't let you, and it all derives from their own insecurities. If they're lonely, they'll poke fun at a couple, if they're a couple, they might poke fun at a loner. It's an attack on you because deep down they don't feel secure in their current situation. You win when you stop caring and start living life the way you want to live it. Even if you find yourself a complete outcast, don't give in to what society expects of you. There's a lot more you can achieve with freedom, than with others relying on you.
