Question about the proper use of commas?

Consider this sentence: "My cat, Frankie, loves to go outside."

The commas seem to imply that I have one cat and his name is Frankie. If I have more than one cat and want the reader to know I am talking about a specific cat, should I lose the commas?

No it says; I have a cat. He is mine, His name is Frankie. He loves to go outside.

The fact that you have other cats does not matter.

You can remove ",Frankie," from the sentence and it is still OK. "My cat loves to go outside".

Tain't nuthin wrong with it. S'ok.

If your intent is to imply that you have more than one cat, you would reword the sentence.

One of my cats, Frankie, loves to go outside.

Bingo. You got it right on the first try.
