I have an IF statement that works.. but I need the answer to put a zero in the cell if it is negative. If the answer to the IF statement is positive.. then I want the actual answer.

=IF(sum(F7:F10)<0,D11+sum(F7:F10),D11-sum(F7:F10))

right now.. this statement adds F7 through F10 to see if it negative or not. if that sum is negative.. then it adds F7:F10 with the amount in D11. At this point.. if that answer is negative.. I need '0' in the cell, otherwise, I just need the answer

if the sum of f7;f10 is positive.. then it should take the number is d11 and subtract the sum of f7;f10 from it.. and again.. if the answer is negative.. I need '0' in the cell, otherwise, I just need the answer.

Also, if you see an easier way to do the calculation.. I am open to suggestions. but everything works right now with the exception that I can not have a final negative number.

I know the numbers I need in each cell.. but cant figure out the formulas that need to go in the second column.

First column, we put in the numbers manually. But second column is where the calculations come in.

1 ------- 2444.44 ----- =a1

2 ------- 4888.88 ----- 2444.44 (this is 2444.44 because we already paid the person 2444.44 in B1.. they ended up earning more 4888.88, so B2 needs to be the difference of what is owed

3 ------ 1000.00 ------ (3888.88) in B3 shows since 4888.88 has been paid out already.. but the new total they earned is only $1000.. so B3 indicates how much they need to pay back

4 ----- 2666.68 ----- (1222.20) in B4 since they had a negative balance the previous month B3.. but now they earned more (a4)... b4 indicates they owe less back.

5 ----- 2000.00 ------ 777.80

6 ----- 500.00 ----- (277.80)

This is a complicated mess in my opinion. But it is part of a complicated commission calculation that works on a percentage made each month.. but also that percentage is then used to calculated how much should be given out over the course of the year.

Column A shows the commission amount earned that month and needs to be compaired with what was already paid out. I think the system if flawed.. but non the less, this is how they want it recorded. I need a formula for column B that makes the numbers I put in work out each time, regardless if column A is more or less than the previous month.

I am trying to get this formula to work.. Here are the conditions I need all in one cell..

If L5 is > or = m4, then add L5 + M4

If L5 is < m4, then (m4-L5) * -1

so.. basically if number is L5 is greater or equal to M4.. the two need to be added together and that new number needs to be displayed.

but if L5 is less than the value of M4.. then subtrack L5 from M4, then multiply the sum by negative 1.

Trying to calculate commission, but rate is different depending on total sale amount.

Basically need a formula that does this...

If amount in cell a2 is more than X, then multiply by .05. If amount in cell a2 is less than X, then multiply by .045.

I want to know where to start so I can learn .NET programming. I have a science and math background, but not a lot of programming (other than html, which I learned myself).

I need a formula to calculate a percentage of a number in another cell.

For example. if the number is $1000. I need the total of 30% for the first $500 and then 20% for the remaining amount. So the answer for $1000 should be $250. (if the initial amount was $1500 then the final answer I need is $350).
