Whenever I have a question that I need different people's answers/opinons on, I come here.

  • What is a synonym for the word "fresh?"?

I couldn t help but notice that nearly every advertiser uses the word "fresh" to advertise their consumable product. After thinking about the lack of diverse vocabulary usage in food advertising, I realized that I, personally, could not come up with a synonym for the word "fresh." Can you?

And if there is one, is that word an outlier to common day language, hence making it pointless to use in advertisements?

  • Do some people twitch (the way dogs do) in their sleep?

Just something I've been wondering. By twitching, I mean the moving of the face, hands, arms, legs, feet while sleeping. I am not referring to the initial twitch that some people experience when they transfer between the different stages of sleep.

  • Do you prefer to ask questions or answer them (an yahoo answers)? / What does your preference reveal about your personality?

    I prefer to ask questions.

I think your preference semi indicates something about your personality. I'm a very expressive person, and because of that (as bad as it sounds) I'm not nearly as excited listening to other people share their experiences with me as I am sharing my experiences with other people.

You might be thinking that there is an error in my logic; that there is no relation between asking / answering a yahoo to identifying personality traits. After all, if I prefer to express myself instead of listen to others, than why would I prefer to read other people's answers on my questions?

Thing is, I enjoy being the center of attention. I like it when I (purposely) do something funny and people laugh at me. I like boosting other peoples levels of happiness. When you ask a question on yahoo, everyone (presumably) will read your question and description before answering. Not everyone will read everyone else's already written answers. Therefore, if you ask the question, you are the focus of attention. The correlation exists perfectly.

At least I think it does. I'm not a brain scientist or anything. =)

So whatta 'bout YOU? Do you prefer to ask or answer questions on yahoo answers? What insight does that provide into your personality?

  • When you were a senior in high school, did you feel ready to take on the world? Looking back, what advise would you give your hs self?

Every time I meet someone who is a senior in high school, I always ask them the same question: "How do you feel about being a senior?" I ve noticed that I receive three different types of answers to my question.

1.) I m SO ready to get out of this place! I totally know how to survive in the real world, and I m sick and tired of high school drama and dealing with immature kids! I m ready for a new challenge! I m ready to get out of the house!

2.) I m not ready! I wish I still had one more year to go! I don t know what I want to do with my life, and I don t know how to handle bank accounts or how to cook! The world is a jungle and it s going to eat me up!

3.) I m not sure. Hasn t quite sunk in yet. I suppose I m scared, yet excited about it. I m ready to get away from immature kids, but I m not quite ready to make a living on my own.

(If you have graduated) what would you like to tell yourself now that you are older, and (presumably) wiser? What would you do differently?

    =) Have fun!

  • What are some good rockabilly bands?

For some reason, I've always really enjoyed rockabilly. I would like to listen to more of it, but I have no idea of where to start.

Any suggestions? If it's only available on vinyl, that's alright: I got a record player for Christmas.

    =)

  • How is Johnny Cash's voice so unique?

Once you hear Johnny Cash sing, you know it's him. He's unmistakable. There is no one (at least, that is wildly know of) who can sing like him.

But if you listen to him, he seems like he has such a simple voice.

Does he sing in some sort of pattern or with some sort of technique that's difficult, or extraordinarily rare?

You would think that he wouldn't be so hard to imitate... so... what is it exactly that makes his voice so unique?

  • Is there a greater force creating the universe? Can the universe develop it's self?

Please don't answer to protest someone's answer! No more viral fighting is needed!

What I'm questioning by that, is that it's quite believable how ancient humans would come up with great mythology like Zeus, Jupiter, Osiris &c.

I mean, the universe, as far as we are aware, is a complex system evermore developing and changing. Some times I get the sense that we are just a small part of some forces creation (and I don't mean, although I believe in, God). The universe just can't be developing itself, can it?

Is that just some human instinct, that a system has to have a "head" controlling it since everything we know has some version of a controlling force?

Is there some thing creating everything we know? And is the universe all there is? Or is the universe within something else? Is it all God? I've always thought of Him as an over seer who listens and understand all.

Remember, everything we know is only to our understanding. Everything we know, could be completely false, or rather just one side of the story.

And the answer, (my theory) is not complicated. So if it's not complicated, than what is the simple answer?

  • Who shall destroy the conditions for life as we know it first? Humans? Sun? Universe?

In the process of dying, will the sun dry up the oceans?

Shall the milky way throw one of it's massive creations at Planet Earth?

Will the universe collapse? (Is that even possible?)

Or shall us humans pollute this wonderful planet until we've killed ourselves along with every other living being with garbage, chemicals, and over population? Seven. Billion. People.

Or should something else ruin life as we know it?

There are many deaths, but what will happen first?

    (no one knows the answer)

  • If a person does not want much, should they have it?

Just another philosophy question for those who enjoy them. =)

I don't have a solid answer myself, the closest I have so far is that it depends upon the situation; I could argue that you get what you deserve, so it doesn't really matter what you want, but everything matters...

    Well, what do YOU think?

  • What are the key combinations to fix a flipped screen?

As my computer was falling, I grabbed it to prevent it from hitting the ground. However, when I grabbed it, I hit some keys. The screen turned black, and than it reappeared... on it's side.

This situation has happened to this computer more than once; the screen was flipped upside down last time, and now is flipped on it's side, so that the Google bar appears vertical on the left side of the screen (if you were to view the screen from the normal perspective).

So, are their any computer experts that know how to get it back? (if needed information, my laptops' maker is Dell)

  • Is technology (as in phones, computer games et cetera) helping or destroying the (human) world?

Here's a little poem I wrote in a few minutes earlier today.

    Trouble with Technology

is it that I feel left out?

I get what it’s all about

but there’s only so much I can take

of a world that’s less real and more fake

    phones are almost ubiquitous

    they’re supposedly happiness

    but like pain and drugs

we end up in the holes we’ve dug

make up will cover up our imperfections

that doesn’t stop us from rejection

if you don’t have “this” or “that” you’re not cool

but I think “this” or “that” makes us fools

‘cause if you take the time to solve the riddle

take everything and summarize it in a little

are all of these flashy objects the answer?

or are they just a form of cancer?

    ~J.K.A.H.

It seems that everywhere you go, people are distracted with some sort of device.

When the phone companies advertise for their products, they claim that phones will make you more connected to others. Yes, cell phones can be very helpful in organizing and catching up, however, people often use these devices to avoid conversation. It is also a way in which people can say things that they could not say as easily in person (hence cyber bulling).

So, are all these video games, social networks, phones et cetera et cetera, really helping us humans, or are we just pushing ourselves further apart from one another?

Take your thoughts and perspective from yourself, and form them into sentences below where we can all comprehend your opinion(s).

  • Is the Eagles song called "Best of My Love" or "The Best of My Love"?

'Greatest Hits from 1971-1975' says "Best of My Love", 'The Very Best of the Eagles" says "The Best of My Love" and 'On the Boarder' says "The Best of My Love".

So is there a "the" in the title or not?

  • How do you properly put an entire song (that is not yours) in a story?

I know that if you were to take a quote from a song, you would simply write (in italics)

"your prison is walkin' through this world all alone"

-"Desperado" written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey, 1973

But I want to put the entire song into a story that I am writing. Would I still need to put the quotation marks if I put the entire song and not just a quote from it? Do I need to say who published it along with who wrote it? Do I need the year it was published (like I put)?

  • Do animals have accents/ how did we end up with accents?

I know animals (besides humans) do not compose sentences; they rather speak in symbols and warnings, but if people who speak the exact same language have different accents depending on where they live, I wonder if animals speak in different symbols/accents? Or is it universal? like smiling and laughing.

Upon pondering this question, I begin to wonder why humans speak in accents? Is it a "trend" that "catches on" such as clothing style and the change in formation of sentences through the years (as in the 1800's, when people wrote sentences and stories that over explained everything)?

  • What does the new update for iPod touch 4th generation do?

Does it make the sreening layout look like the iOS7? (if so, I don't want it. I want people to wish they hadn't upgrated after most people have the new look and I still have the old one. It will seem "new and different" even though it's "old". I like different. [haha, probably not, but it's worth a shot]) Sorry for the background information.

    So, what does it do?

  • Does my theorey on why Ancient Egyptains drew eyes the way they did seem correct?

Ancient Egypt is know for it's distinct way of portraying animals (humans count in this category). One of their distinct features is the way in which they draw an eye. I have heard that Egyptians painted around their own eyes to look like the way it did in their drawing by using an early form of eyeliner.

Ancient Egyptians thought much of cats. They had a cat goddess named Bastet in which they worshipped. Egyptians even believed that having a mummified cat was good luck. (sometimes they could not wait until the cat was dead and cracked their neck to kill them)

They breed of cats during Ancient Egypt was tabbies. (they have striped, spotted [a combination of both] orange, brown or gray fur) These cats often have a dark line of fur around their eyes.

Since cats were worshiped so much, I thought that maybe they put the "eyeliner" around their eyes (in drawing and in real life) to either worship the cat, give themselves good luck, or maybe they simply liked they "look".

What do you think? Is it a good theory?

  • How does the mind think if a human knows no language?

I know the language of English, therefor I think in English.

But what if there was a human who knew no language? How would they think? I suppose the answer has to do with how the brain works and all that. Babies don't know language. They would think in this way.

But thinking in "words" (so to speak) helps us think more deeper, I suppose. So we would still have these questions about the world, but how would we process these questions we're thinking in our brain? Or would we still even have these sort of thoughts?
