  • Do you agree/disgree?

    What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

  • In which way has this spin spun?

    (Purely objective, i'm not looking for a specific answer.)

    Earlier this week, Barack Obama said "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig" in reference to McCain's 'excessive' use of earmarks in the past. Within a day, the McCain camp quickly demanded an appology for these 'sexist' statements toward Palin.

    Obama then responded by claim the statement was not sexist, as it was not in reference to Sarah Palin, and pointed out that Palin herself said "the difference between a soccer mom and a bulldog is lipstick" and McCain earlier (a few months ago) said the exact same expression as Obama, with the exact same phrasing, about Hillary Clinton.

    Who is the sexist, if anyone, and who is doing the ''spinning'?

  • Has it ever struck you as odd?

    1) that for the party that claims to be more religious, republicans make a lot of jesus/obama jokes?

    2) that for the party that claims to be better about freedom of speech, democrats tend to have more barbed wire around the protest areas at the DNC?

  • What do you think of Dulce et Decorum?

    Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,

    Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,

    Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs

    And towards our distant rest began to trudge.

    Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots

    But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;

    Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots

    Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind.

    Gas! Gas! Quick, boys! – An ecstasy of fumbling,

    Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;

    But someone still was yelling out and stumbling,

    And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime . . .

    Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,

    As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

    In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,

    He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

    If in some smothering dreams you too could pace

    Behind the wagon that we flung him in,

    And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,

    His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;

    If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood

    Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,

    Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud

    Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,

    My friend, you would not tell with such high zest

    To children ardent for some desperate glory,

    The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est

    Pro patria mori.

  • Ever wonder if the world would be better without us?

    We, y!a political radicals (and don't try to say your not one, we ALL are), can't be good for society right? I mean we provoke each other, fight and create deep arbitrary divides intelligent people over stupid things. We are the opposite of moderates and bi-partisanship. It's sad really.

  • What ever happened to fair campaigns?

    What ever happened to the days of disputing issues instead of characteristics? What ever happened to admitting that both sides are flawed rather than making some ad hoc argument that the others crazy? What ever happened to saying good luck and shaking your opponents hand? What ever happened to let mindful people make thoughtful decisions on what they like to happen in their government rather than playing mind games with voters in vain attempts to conquer little red and blue dots on a map?

  • Is Bob the Builder a 'liberal'?

    "Helping wildlife is always more than a job." - Bob the Builder

    Also I always like to add this when I mention this quote:

    "If these damn environmentalist had their way we'd be up to our necks in owls and out of jobs for every American!" - Bush Sr.

  • Would you vote for an Islamic president?

    Obviously Obama isn't Muslim, but would it matter if he was? Does religion really play that much of a role in the secular position of President?

  • Who said this famous quote?

    Was it a democrat or a republican president? (please don't spoil it for everyone else) Who said the following:

    "Ahh, but I need the majority." in response to "You've got the vote of every smart person in the nation, sir."

  • Gay Marriage?

    I have a simple point to make, I doubt it will change anyones opinion, but what's the point of having the liberty of free speech if I don't exercise it...

    I understand most people consider gay marriage wrong because the Bible says so; I agree. But the Bible also says not believing in Christ is wrong and I'm not about to go out and start slaughtering Buddists, Hindus, Jews, etc. I believe gay marriage is wrong, but I refuse to enforce my beliefs on others with any kind of law much less an amendment.
