  • Is there a church that accepts evolution?

My wife and I are seeking to join a church. We have been to quite a few. All the people seem really nice and I generally like Christianity. However, I can't accept all the stuff literally. I think Genesis has a strong message that God created our world but I cannot accept the 7 days, Garden of Eden, Noah's Ark, stuff.

I'd like to join a church that is not so literal, but more interested in using Christian principals to be a more useful person.

    thanks

  • What's a good name for a jam band?

We are a bunch of 40-year-old Dead Heads who like getting together and jammin'. We are in Houston, Texas, so I thought Lone Star Orchestra would be good. I also like Paper Air Force. Maybe Armadillo Station? We are open to any of your suggestions

  • Which NFL team should sign Michael Vick?

or is he done? He is older and he was never an Elway or Montana, but he should be abe to offer some team some help. I would think the Lions could use him. Or the Steelers could use a useful back-up

  • Why should dog fighting be illegal? I cite property rights.?

I had never considered dog fighting, pro or con, but I don't understand why it should be illegal. Unless, the gambling is illegal- which could be a tax revenue if it were legal.

I already understand many animal lovers think its cruel, but that seems self-centered. Dogs and other animals are put to work in many kinds of dangerous roles: guard dogs, police dogs, etc. even in sports and leisure: Horse racing, dog racing, circuses.

I would think dog fighting should be legal, as a matter of property rights: it's my dog, and if I want to train it to wear clothes or cross breed it to create fad dogs (chow-poodle), it should be my choice as an owner.

  • What's wrong with dog fighting?

If you feel it's wrong, help me understand you. I am NOT interested in seeing a dog fight or breeding dogs, (Heck , We have a Weimanweiner) But with Michael Vick getting out of jail, I have to ask. Mr. Vick owned those dogs, he didn't steal them, he did not have pit bulls fighting Chows. My beef is 2 fold: Michael Vick did with his money, time, and land what he wanted to do - no humans were hurt or threatened, no other people's lives or property were ruined or in jeopardy. And second, its some animals' instinct to fight - just like it's their instinct to breed. How can it be okay to neuter dogs but not okay to fight them?

I am hoping you can write something convincing if you feel strongly about this, I want to understand your point of view better.

  • Is the Corvette dead?

With GM now being run by the US government, I assume all of GM's brands are gone, except for Chevrolet and Cadillac. But I don't expect every Chevy and Caddy to survive, for instance, there is no profit on the Cobalt, and I expect the gov't to ax it. The corvette is different but since its not a hybrid or a huge profit center, like the Silverado, will the gov't insist it gets cut?

  • what can I get my wife for her birthday?

I know this should be thoughtful. A fitst I was going to get a custom made suncatcher - it would be a picture of her dog. But that was two exspensive and takes to long. I was going to buy her a ticket to Vegas, her friends were going, but they cancelled.

She loves to travel. She loves plants (we have too many plants now) She loves animals. Maybe more birds? a pair of them love doves?

  • What other brands of road bikes are there? I really LOVE Bianchi but what else is out there?

I know about Trek and Cannonale and those are fine bikes. I had a steel Bianchi road bike and I LOVED it. I finally wrecked, crashing into a wall to avoid a toddler. I am going to buy a new road bike and I am considering a Bianchi Brava, but I wonder: What else is there?

Is there a great Spanish or British brand I am not aware of?

Please suggest a road bike for me. Keep in mind that I am not spending more than $1000 USD, I am not a Campy snob - Shimano is fine, and I am 40 years old so I am not training for the TDF- however I plan to do 4 or more centuries a year. Thanks!!
