  • Mealy bugs all over the cactus.?

I have about a dozen cactus plants planted in two large clay bowels. For quite awhile I have noticed what I now believe are mealy bugs infesting them. Is there a indoor safe insecticide that will get rid of them? I don't care about the chemicals as long as they won't hurt me. I just want to annihilate them. There are too many to try to pick off with q-tips. That is especially difficult when you factor in the cactus needles. Brand names would be helpful. Thanks so much!!! : )

  • Exposed aggregate on a vertical cement surface?

I have existing concrete pillars on the outside of my house. They are in need of some fixing up due to cracks. After they are repaired I would like a more decorative finish on them instead of new concrete. The concrete on them now is aged and I dislike the look of smooth new concrete. Can exposed aggregate be put onto a vertical surface? And do you know of any sites that can show some "know how" do it yourselfers how to do it. Do you have any other suggestions on covering them? Thanks a bunch!!! : )

  • Do you have a GPS navigation system for your car? What kind would you recommend? ?

I would like to buy my husband a GPS device for his car. We are not very tech savvy. Is there one that you have that you would recommend? What features do you like about it? Or if you had one that you just hated, What did you hate about it? What kind of options should I look for and what is just a waste of money? My budget is about $350. I also don't want a monthly plan of any kind. Thanks so much for your input. : )

  • 2008 Chevy Impala SS?

Does a 08 SS Impala have, I don't know what they are called so for lack of the correct word, kick plates? It's the plastic or metal piece that is on the bottom inside by the side seat controls when you open the door. I use it to tap the snow off of my boots when I get in. Is it standard and what do they look like in a SS? I am asking because I was looking at a SS and I was surprised to see that there was none there the whole way around. I've never seen a car without them. Thank's so much!!! : )

  • Disc Cleanup?

Is it a good idea to do a "disc cleanup" on your computer? I recently ran the defragging program but is there more that can be done to make your computer run faster? If you do the disc cleanup, how will you know that you are not accidently deleting files that are needed. I don't want to screw anything up. My computer seems to be a little quirky at times and it takes 6 hours to run a virus scan. Is this normal? Thanks so much for the help!!! : )

  • What is this stuff growing on the mulch of my rose garden?

There is a substance growing on top of the mulch in my rose garden. It first looks like light mustard or, sorry to be gross, light yellow spots of vomit. they range in size from 6 inch diameter to 12+ inch diameter. At first we thought that an animal may have been sick but the spots keep popping up. They start out looking like a dried liquid and the next day they expand and look like a puffy light yellow foam about half an inch tall. The sun will beat down on them for a day and they dry up and deflate. The whole process only takes a few days. The garden is in full sun in zone 6. Any ideas will be appreciated! Thanks a bunch!!! :)

  • Do you have a Pink Diamond Hydrangea tree?

I was thinking of planting some of these in my yard and would like to know how well you like your Pink Diamond Hydrangea Tree, if you have one. How big is it? How does it look throughout the season? What do you love about it? Is there anything that you don't like about it? What are the big differences between a Pink Diamond tree compared to a Pee Gee Hydrangea tree. Do they have pest or disease problems? Messy? Mine will be in full sun in zone 6. Thank's a bunch for the help!!!

  • The lifespan of a Redbud tree?

It was my understanding that Redbud trees had a short lifespan of only about 20 years or so. Is this true or not? I don't want to plant a tree in my yard if it's just going to die in 20 years. That's not very long for a tree. Thanks for the information!!! :)

  • My unplanted bare root roses have broken their dormancy?

I had purchased a few new bare root rose bushes but they have broken their dormancy and are growing like crazy. They were sold with their roots packed in a 12" X 4" plastic bag. I live in zone 6 and I think it's still too early to plant them outside especially since they are growing. Right now I am keeping them in my basement. Do you think that they will be ok left like this until planting time in at least another month or more? Or would it be best to plant them in pots and let them grow all that they want until planting time? And can bare root roses be planted in a pot without causing any unnecessary harm to the plant? Thanks for all the help!!! :)

  • Do you have these Climbing Roses?

Spring is on it's way and the arbor in my rose garden is bare. I would like to plant climbing roses to dress it up. I am trying to decide between red for a classic look or yellow because it would be bright and different. If I go with the red I would choose Don Juan. Yellow would be Golden Showers or Scent From Above. If you have any of these I would appreciate any advice you may have, your experience with the varietys listed, if you think red or yellow would be better, or any other suggestions. I want a tea rose look in a full size flower and a strong scent is very important. I live in zone 6 and the area is in full sun. The arbor is a white vinyl arch with lattice sides. Thank you for all of your help! :)

  • About the Sun?

How can the Sun burn continuously without exhausting it's fuel source? Can the Sun renew itself in any way? I know that it burns away some, but why does it take so long. It seems to be well contained for a giant ball of fire. I would think that it would have burned itself out by now. Thanks for the information! :)
