Vision still worse in scratched eye six months after injury?
I poked my eye on a branch badly about six months ago, and while my vision in that eye is still reasonably good within 10 feet, I can no longer see details at a distance clearly (such as projected slides in a powerpoint from the back of the room). Instead, they're blurry.
At the time, I went to my school's student care center, where the doctor who saw me said I didn't need to see an optometrist unless things got worse, or didn't get better, in a few days. Not noticing a problem at the time, I never went back.
Before this incident, I have always had very good distance vision in both eyes. And when I cover my bad eye, I can make out details much better than when I try with both open. I read on the computer and in hard copy all the time after seven years as a student, but I never noticed a problem until after the tree branch incident.
I have no pain in the eye. And I read that corneal abrasions are supposed to heal very quickly, in a few days or so. Could the damage I've seen still be related to the tree branch poke?

Do you know which of these takes more water (during all prior processes) to produce a pound? I just want to see how many people know this.

5 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoHave you ever had this type of chocolate covered cherry?
I had a chocolate covered cherry from Blacksburg, Virginia's The Chocolate Spike while vacationing there over spring break. It was unlike any I've ever had. It had some kind of cherry-flavored soft fudge wrapped around the cherry before it was covered in chocolate. So good! Have you ever had one like this? And, if so, from where? Does it have a special name?
3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoWhat to do about knee pain?
I experience a knee twinge (and sometimes mild pain) in one knee when biking at any speed other than S-L-O-W. This is new, as I have been biking to work for at least a year. Recently, I;ve felt the pain while sitting 'just so' (how? I don't know exactly, but shifting usually eliminates it). I also feel it while walking down hill and squatting, but not during normal walking. I have tried to let up on these types of activities to give my knee time to heal, but I lead an active life and it is difficult to cut back.
I don't think I have arthritis because I am still in my early 20s.
Has anybody had this type of pain, and what did you do?

4 AnswersCats1 decade agoBlurring your vision on purpose - good, bad, or neither?
I have always been able to focus my vision closer without crossing my eyes, resulting in blurred vision for any object more than a foot or so away, although I can control just how blurry things get. This is a great trick for me because I don't like the scary parts of movies and I don't want to look goofy covering my eyes, but I want to know if this is safe to do on a regular basis. If it is using a muscle, (I guess the ciliary muscles) wouldn't it be a good thing to exercise that muscle?
2 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoWhy a top law school?
Other than prestige, why should a person who wants to ultimately start their own firm with a spouse apply to top schools that will probably not give them a full ride as opposed to some lower-group schools that definitely will?
Why should I go into debt when I could get paid to go to law school (full tuition plus stipend) at a variety of schools that might not be as well recognized?
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoWho got a top-tier LSAT score but went to a lower tier school on purpose?
I am going to go to law school with my fiance who doesn't feel as comfortable with testing as I do and I also want a full scholarship, so I think I will be applying to schools with lower LSAT data than people would usually aim for with my score.
I have a 171 - who got a similar score but went to a lower-tier school? Why? Did you regret it?

Everyone seems to say that you should go to law school where you plan on living. For law school graduates, is that what you did? Is that what you recommend?

2 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoXbox live connection urgent!!!!?
I have to work early tomorrow morning, but I have to get this hooked up before I can go to bed. So please:
I have a laptop and a desktop connecting to the internet via a wireless router which is supposedly compatible with xbox live. It is not clear to me exactly how I can hook up the xbox, though. Should I:
a) try to plug an ethernet cable into my laptop and the xbox so that the xbox can suck wireless from the laptop
b) plug the xbox directly into the router or modem, leaving me with the choice to relocate my TV (quite difficult) or find some other screen to use... I am lost here.
I guess what I'm asking is, do I have to move both my TV and my xbox into the room with the router and modem? Yuck. Hope not.

4 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIn the theater seeing A.I., be honest:?
Please be honest. I am just curious how many people experienced the same thing I did, which was the following:
When the main character ends up at the bottom of the ocean and the screen says something like "thousands of years later..." did you hear anyone nearby say, "Feel's like it's been thousands of years!"?
If so, please respond and include your region (For example, mine is the South, so no surprise there) and how it made you feel at the time. It made me really mad because it interrupted the mood of the movie but also because it was really funny and I didn't want to think so.
5 AnswersMovies1 decade agoIs my dentist stupid or am I special?
I went for my first dental exam in like 2 years today. The guy seemed very professional and thorough.
However, when he was dictating his exam results to the assistant I heard him say, "No missing teeth." I corrected him because I had a baby tooth removed once and there was no tooth underneath. I have kept all my wisdom teeth and all my molars on that side just eventually scooted forward, so there is no gap there anymore.
He seemed not to believe me at first, but then he looked again and you can tell that I am missing one of the smaller teeth behind my canine, and that it's been replaced by a larger molar. He said "Wow, the gap closed up all by itself? You must have really good genes."
Yet I am googling it now and I seem to be getting information that says this is normal. But I know my mom's gap, from having an adult tooth removed, has not closed for years. What's the deal, all you experienced dentists out there?
Just in case it helps, I am 21 years old.

4 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoSomeone's outdoor cat in bad shape... what can I do?
There is an outdoor cat who lives in my neighborhood and may belong to someone here. He is very sweet. The trouble is that I don't know IF he belongs to anyone and he has a medical issue that needs attention - some sort of skin problem on his face. It smells infected, his eyes are a little swollen, etc. and I work with pets, so I know he needs to be looked at by a vet. It's been a few weeks, and no improvement so I doubt anyone's treating him. Can I legally take him to the vet, which I'm not sure I can afford?
