Is a translation of a foreign language piece of public domain literature copyright?

Am considering publishing my own version of an ancient foreign language text and while I am positive this work is in the realm of public domain am unsure about whether the current texts I use are copyright as translations?

" what do you call the media/entertainment that can be physically held/touched/etc... as opposed to digital? Is there a name for this? I'm talking VHS/DVD/Vinyl/Casset/CD/Poster/Print/Film/etc... Is there a collective name for this?

Does the amount of daylight increase the same between the winter solistice and summer solistice or do the daily gains in light vary in ammount?

If I wrote a story and was trying to get it published and discovered a novel of the same title already existed could I use my original title or would I have to change it?

I am working on starting my own clothing line from the ground up. I have a couple of ideas of names for the line but am struggling to find out if these names have been previously used/trademarked. I have tried just googling it but I just find stuff related to the words/subjects in the title. Is there anywhere I can go on the web and just check for trademarks and availability.

I work in landscaping and often get all sorts of debris, wood, grass, stones, etc. inside my boots and t can be very painful throughout the day. Is there any kind of a product to prevent this? I am thinking maybe a skirtlike cover around the ankle?(if that makes sense)

As stated above I am setting up a website for my brand(I dont think its really relevant what its for but if you need to know its a clothing label). I know just the littlest things in a url can throw off potential customers. Now I know having a ".com" is very important, even as opposed to a ".net" but the domain name I wish for is taken. In your most humble opinion would it be better to take my domain name to a ".net" or ".US" or should I just change the domain name to something different and stick to the ".com"?

Looking for a home business opportunity, probably some sort of an affiliate thing but if you have a better idea feel free to lemme know. I am not looking to do the sales thing as I am not much of a talker, but have lots of free time so something I could work at, maybe with my hands? Minor assembling or something maybe. So I I were to melt down some misc scrap metal and pour it into a mold. Would it help/hurt in any way to repeatedly heat/cool the metal?

So I would like to pick up the hobby of diamond hunting but most the information I have found seems to involve that 'one' park or giant corporations. What are some simple tips? Are they way down in the ground beneath a forest? Are they in river beds? What do I look for being that their unfinished? Are they potentially anywhere? Or only in certain areas of the world? Clay? Gravel? Sand?

Okay so lets say I take a quarter and set it on its edge and place it on a ice cube. It sinks into, nearly halfway into the cube in a matter of seconds. So then I think maybe its because the quarter is warmer. So I freeze the quarter and try again, and it does the same thing, like a hot knife through butter. Why is this?

So I read this article and that article and this guys has ABC belt and that guy had DEF belt, you know. Now I understand the whole dismal belt situation BUT was wondering if there is any one(belt) that is regarded as slightly more prestigious than another? I understand each is considered (semi)legit but is there any one of the belts that is slightly more coveted or not really?

Okay I need virtually nothing, but am looking to spend less then $200. I simply need it to have word processing capabilities(be able to run MS Word or the sort) and USB compatible. I am only using it for some writing and plan to transfer my documents off when finished

It is my dream to become a great author, I have plenty writing experience and have even been published(for pay). But was wondering if it was possible for a young author to achieve mainstream popularity like say actors or musicians?
