  • How do I configure a Windows Vista laptop to a wireless network using a NetGear router?

We have a Vista home computer, NetGear router, one Windows 7 laptop (connected just fine) and our Godforsaken Vista HP laptop. NetGear will not help since they say it isn't their problem. It will connect to the network, but no Internet access. I have looked online at some of the techie sites, but the wording was a bit confusing. Any help would be great. Laptop needed to access online schooling!

  • Is it OK to mix semi-gloss paint and satin paint if they are the same shade?

I have 1 1/2 gallons of semi-gloss paint and really hate to waste it. We have a new house and we love the color on our current walls, but would like to try a lower gloss paint treatment this time. Please only answer if you have experience with this sort of thing. Thank you!

  • Can you help with correctly linking uploaded docs/spreadsheets to my Comcast personal Web site?

I am setting it up correctly, but when I log out and go in as a visitor and click the link that should open the doc., it says Sorry The Page You Were Looking For Could Not Be Found. Check that the URL you have typed and retry. I have spent too many hours with online support from Comcast. I am uploading the files with no problem. I have used the Insert Hyperlink to link the file to the word on the web page. I even checked in the HTML format to make sure I am setting it up right. I made the file public, I have no prob. with inserting pics, don't know why I would have probs with MS docs and spreadsheets. Any ideas?

  • Is utilities information considered public information in MI, USA?

More specifically, can a person request how much gas or electric was consumed at a particular address, or how much that property was charged for that particular service? If you know this, please state the name of the law and section as I am trying to deal with a utility company for my father who is a tenant. I am also investigating tenant's rights, but that is another post.

  • How to fix? Internet Explorer is possessed-opens windows upon windows-?

This never happened before my teens began using MySpace, and it only happens when they log on to that site. It happens on every computer we have, even our brand new one! Is there a way to stop it or change something so it will stop? Why or how could this be happening?

  • I need to create a secure internet wireles network and am not quite sure how?

I have asked a similar question but did not receive a sufficient answer. I have a new Windows Vista computer that is connected to a cable internet modem (Motorola SB5120) that is then connected to a DLink router so that I can have wireless internet on my laptop. I want to create a password protected system so that neighbors, etc. cannot access internet through my wireless router. I also am concerned with hackers, etc. Please include step by step instructions for me to do this. Thank you!

  • HOw do you find out when someone had a misdemeanor?

Someone I know spent 10 months in jail around 20 years ago for theft. I am interested in reading the transcripts of this case (have caught him in other lies, want to know the truth). How would I go about finding out the date of the case online (or offline)? It was in a county circuit court in the state of Michigan.

  • If you want to amend your divorce decree, what are the steps to take?

There are a few changes that I need to make (monroe county, MI) in my divorce decree. If the ex-spouse is agreeable to the changes, what forms do I fill out to send to Probate so that my decree can be amended? If he is not agreeable, then what steps do I take? I am trying to do this without a lawyer, as it is a pretty simple case, I just need to know what forms to fill out, and in what order. Thank you so much!

  • What should I do? I found out that my ex-husband is on a dating site and posted our daughter's (she is 7)?

picture on it. Not only did he do that, but he posted my other daughter's pic on there (she is 12), all without my knowledge or permission. He also states that he makes 100,000.00/year, but I get crap in child support. I don't care about the other lies he has in his profile, but I don't want my girls' pics online for anyone to see! Should I tell him I know and demand he remove them? What if he doesn't? Should i also ask him about the money? What would you do?

  • I have Delphiniums that are blooming purple instead of blue like they are supposed to...?

I think it has to do with the soil alkalinity or acidity. If the flowers are supposed to be blue, and are purple instead, which does my soil have too much of? How do I fix it? I live in Southern Michigan. My other blue flowers have a slight purplish tinge to them, too.

  • Why can't people spell correctly and use proper grammar? Is English everyone's second language?

I have seen so many postings on here that are lacking in basic English skills that I have to wonder what happened in the schools to create this? Am I the only person that is irritated by the IM grammar and the ebonics used here?

  • How do you sue a family member over visitation?

My grandfather is in a nursing home, and I was visiting frequently because I live nearby and no one else in the family was hardly visiting. He has alzheimer's but remembered me coming, and really enjoyed our visits. Well, there is some bad blood in my family and his daughter is Power of Attorney over him and found out I was going to see him, and had a fit. She called the nursing home and told them I was not allowed to see him anymore. Now, the rest of the family says she has taken this Power of Attorney thing to her head and thinks she is God over my grandfather and they think I should be able to see him. So- what I was wondering- is how do I go about suing her for visitation? I live in Michigan. I don;t have much money for a lawyer, but I have to do something!

  • A legal question regarding someone w/ stage 5-6 Alzheimer's?

I have a grandfather with Alzheimer's who was recently put in a nursing home. His nurses say it would be OK if I take him to my home (5 minutes away from his nursing home) for visits. My husband is afraid that if we take him to our home, and anything happens to him (broken ankle, etc.) that his kids would probably sue us, and cause me a lot of mental anguish in the process. They are money-hungry, but-if the home lets me sign him out, and we have homeowners insurance, could they really have a suit against me?

  • How do you deal with step children and stealing/lying?

I am so tired of this. My 11 yr old stepdaughter is stealing from my oldest daughter (12 yrs old), and then takes the things to her mom's house. She lies about it, and has managed to convince her dad that she didn't do anything. Well, I found out from her younger sister that she has my daughter's things over there, and she also told me how her sister talks pretty bad to her mom about me, but yet, when she is with me, she is all chatty & sweet to my face. Do I just ignore her playing both sides (she talks bad abt her mom to me) - but what about her stealing? It isn't fair to my daughter, what should i do?
