Can you agree with Senator Toomey's candor on republicans voting in Congress?
In talking about why the expanded background checks for gun buyers failed, he candidly said,
"In the end it didn't pass because we're so politicized. There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it," Toomey admitted on Tuesday in an interview with Digital First Media editors in the offices of the Times Herald newspaper in Norristown, Pa.
I think that perfectly sums up republicans continued BATTLE against this President. They have no interest in the country, they just want the opposite of whatever the President supports. makes no difference if it's right or not.
8 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhy is it that the same republicans who are against background checks for gun purchases?
are the same ones who had no problem with GW Bush wiretapping U.S. citizens' phones without cause and the creation of the Homeland Security agency?
Talk about a loss of freedom and gov't interference! Why the hypocrisy?
12 AnswersPolitics8 years agoRepublicans in North Carolina want to make a specific religion "the state religion".?
They also will not allow anyone who doesn't believe in God to run for any political position.
Even though it's only on the state level, doesn't that go directly against the intentions of the 1st Amendment of the Constitution?
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.."
I guess that doesn't matter if it's a "state congress". But what about rights as Americans?
8 AnswersPolitics8 years agoIs this the kind of attitude that dominates the republican party today?
"Rep. Kris Crawford, a Republican from Florence and also an emergency room doctor, supports the expansion of medicaid but expects the Republican caucus to vote as a block against the Medicaid expansion.
"The politics are going to overwhelm the policy. It is good politics to oppose the black guy in the White House right now, especially for the Republican Party," Crawford said.
As it turns out, "the politics" were so successful in "overwhelming the policy" that Crawford himself voted against the policy he said he supports."
So in other words, don't vote what you believe... just vote against Obama even if you agree with him.
And you wonder why nothing can get done in Washington!!
12 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhy weren't republicans calling the free medicaid phones "Bush phones" when he was president?
This program didn't start under Obama, but everyone calls them "Obama phones".
Why didn't those same people call them "Bush phones" before?
18 AnswersPolitics8 years agoDid you know that, with regard to Social Security, Ronald Reagan once said...?
REAGAN: Social Security, let’s lay it to rest once in for all…Social Security has nothing to do with the deficit. "Social Security is totally funded by the payroll tax levied on employer and employee. If you reduce the outgo of Social Security, that money would not go into the general fund to reduce the deficit. It would go into the Social Security trust fund. So Social Security has nothing to do with balancing the budget or erasing or lowering the deficit.":
He said that during the Reagan-Mondale presidential debates. Where's the republican party on that issue now?
10 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWith Michigan passing the "right to work" law, what do you think will happen with wages and benefits?
A. wages and benefits go up
B. wages and benefits go down
C. no changes
13 AnswersPolitics9 years agoNow that Obamacare will not be overturned, is it a coincidence that?
it was recently announced that insurance premiums will have the SMALLEST increase in 15 years? Only about 5% this year. And "no"...Obama did not say the rates would come down overall, so save the bandwidth. He said the rates of increase would come down, saving Americans money in the long run.
Kind of blows up the whole "premiums will escalate drastically" argument put up by anti-Obama folks. Obama said the rates of increases would come down....and they are! Another promise kept by Obama.
1 AnswerPolitics9 years agoDid Susan Rice give a different story than she was given by the intelligence community?
No.
End of story. Republicans need to move on, and start worrying about things that are still at hand.
We can't get those 4 Americans back, so what's the point of trying to find a way to blame Obama?
He clearly was not at fault.
12 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhy did Scott Walker, and other Republican Governors decide to let the Federal Gov't to set up their?
"insurance exchanges" instead of setting up their own?
Repub's are harming their own states by NOT offering their own state-run exchanges and will INSTEAD let the Federal Gov't set it up for them.
Isn't that hypcritical
4 AnswersPolitics9 years agoNow that we all know that Susan Rice was given the APPROVED talking points from U.S. Intelligence sources,?
will republicans finally admit this was just another right wing attack on our country?
Republicans are the ones who lied, not Susan Rice OR Obama.
Let's make sure they remember we aren't falling for their "post election" tantrums!
Call your congressional representative!
7 AnswersPolitics9 years agoAren't republicans REALLY using the death of our U.S. Ambassador as political fodder?
Yes, we're all sad over the death of 4 people in Benghazi. It was a shame.
But the righties are amplifing the event so much that it's obvious this is
about politicizing the deaths.
Seems they care more about the election than about finding the killers.
17 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhen republicans complain about gas prices under Obama, why do they never mention that?
in July of 2008, just before the economic collapse, gasoline was OVER $4.50 per gallon?
They only use the figures of gas AFTER the DOW fell to 8000 points, and took oil futures with it.
We're at $3.19 here today, and we've NEVER been as high as $4.50 since Obama took office.
14 AnswersPolitics9 years agoAre right wingers happy that Romney has moved more to the left now, according to his debate answers?
He's keeping most of ObamaCare.
He's keeping most of Dodd-Frank.
He's not going to reduce the size of Gov't much.
He's for gov't regulations.
And he's not going to cut revenues to the Gov't, because he'll end deductions...'
So everybody pays the same, it's just taxed differently
(but his math still doesn't add up, no matter how you paint it).
HE'S A LIBERAL, BOYS!!
9 AnswersPolitics9 years agoDid you ever notice how Republicans only want to change voter ID laws just BEFORE a big election?
and not soon AFTER, when everyone would have plenty of time to adjust to the changes?
20 AnswersPolitics9 years agoSince Muslims are protesting our embassy in Thailand today, do Cons still say?
"It's not because of the movie"??
Because we all know Thailand has hated the U.S. for so long, LOL (sarcasm).
Are they protesting the movie, or still celebrating the anniversary of 9/11 (even though they never have before).
2 AnswersPolitics9 years agoSince Romney already had to borrow money for his campaign, doesn't that show he can't lead by example?
He borrowed $20 million in August from a bank. I thought he was getting over $100M every month??
4 AnswersPolitics9 years agoWhen Bush invaded Iraq, how many soldiers did Israel send to help us?
Should we support them at that same level if they attack Iran?
12 AnswersPolitics9 years agoDo any republicans know the TRUE quote regarding "Obama stands with Muslims"?
The actual quote from the book is from page 261 and is as follows:
"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
3 AnswersPolitics9 years agoIsn't it nice to see the Obama-haters progressing through the day today, regarding the Consulate attacks?
First it was the entire countries of Libya and Egypt....
then it was just "Muslims"....
now it's the pro-al Qaeda terrorist groups.
And they think evolution doesn't exist!...HA!
Eventually they might even quit blaming Obama for it.....(naw, that's asking for way too much honesty)
