  • Does our TV have a bad inverter?

we don't know much about TVs...we just got done moving, and when we unpacked our TV, we found it wasn't working.

HDMI does not work, neither does AV. You can hear the sound of both the Playstation and Wii starting up, but nothing on the screen. When we change the input, we hear static and sometimes the no signal image comes up like normal, though a big crackly looking

  • Why does this toilet smell?

We rent an apartment, and a couple of months ago, we noticed the worst smell from the toilet. We figured it was a broken wax ring or something, plus the toilet was ancient, so the landlord came and put a whole new toilet in.

Now the smell is back! The toilet is spotless and clean...what could this be from?

  • Is this eczema?

I've had an itch behind my knees, around my ankle, and sometimes my elbow for the last week or so. There is no rash present until I scratch, and then it turns into what looks like goosebumps. And the area becomes very red.

I've also had an instance of this on my finger, last year.

    thanks

  • Toilet smell won't go away!?

Out toilet just will not stop smelling bad! We clean and clean...I've tried bleach, baking soda/vinegar, masking the smell - but no matter what, the toilet bowl smells bad!

It smells musty and a bit like pee. I don't know what else to do. It's so gross! Any suggestions?

  • My check engine light won't stay off?

Took my '06 Chevy Cobalt in to Auto Zone to see what code came up for my check engine light. They said it was some code (I forget) regarding my coolant temp sensor, meaning that my temperature gauge would never adjust to reflect if my car started over-heating.

So I bought the sensor, my boyfriend put it on, the old one was all corroded, boom. Light was still on, drove it a few times, light went off.

Now it's back on. Called Firestone where I usually get my car fixed, and they said it will be $40 to pull the code and clear it if it's the coolant sensor, but if it's ANYTHING else than what I originally said, they will charge me $90, because it's a "complete diagnostic." That seems pricey to me for not even one repair done!

My question is, should I risk having them pull the code for a whopping $90 or is this normal? I don't want to take my car in if the code will clear on its own after another drive cycle or something. Should I go back to Autozone first (where they will check the general code for free) to see if a different code comes up?

  • Do you think your children owe it to you?

to look after you when you are elderly?

This has been something on my mind recently, due to a conversation with a friend about not wanting my (future) adult children to feel obligated to live with me when I am elderly in order to take care of me. Some people I know feel our children owe it to us because we have done so much for them/raised them/supported them, etc. I just don't want my children to not be able to live their lives in order to take care of or support me once I hit "old age."

I can't figure out what the general consensus is on this subject.

  • Do you think this will fit in my car?

I don't have a measuring tape or anything to try to measure my backseat. But I'm buying a small gateleg, dropleaf kitchen table. The sides fold down. I'm picking it up from a lady off Craigslist.

    Dimensions are 29 1/2" high x 43" wide x 32" deep.

I drive a Chevy Cobalt 4 door, and my boyfriend drives a Ford Fusion sport 4 door. Do you think it will fit in the backseat of one of these cars? (can you tell we aren't very handy?)

    Thanks!

  • Is anyone familiar with these kids' books?

    Ahh, it's driving me nuts!

They were a series of nature search-and-find books from years and years ago, like early millenium. They were oversized books with white covers. Something like "great adventure" maybe...there was an arctic one, a jungle one, an ocean one, etc.

Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

  • Help with meeting boyfriend's kids?

I am 24. My boyfriend is 30, and we've been dating for awhile. He's now ok with introducing me to his two daughters. I like kids, but all of my experience with kids has been with babies and toddlers. His daughters are 5 & 7. I'm a big nervous of what to expect. I don't want to baby them, but also don't want to treat them as though they're older than they are. What do they like to do? What should I avoid? XD I never thought I'd be here on Y!A asking a question like this, but I just wanna make a nice first impression! Thanks!

  • I need a quirky name!?

I'm doing some fictional writing, and I need a good quirky name for my main female character. She's very artsy and free-spirited, a bit of a hippie. Feminine though. I had thought of something like Celeste, but that sounds too refined. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • What is the name of this book? ARGH!?

Last night, I was reminiscing about all my childhood books. This book was a middle-grade level, and I believe had a pencil on the cover. I THINK it may have had to do with some sort of magic pencil?

The title was something like "Springle" or "Prindel." Something goofy like that. DRIVING ME NUTS!

If you were reading a story about two women in their mid-20s traveling across the U.S., what would you expect them to be traveling for?

  • Are these character names too similar?

Zoey and Effie. They aren't sisters or anything, and I don't want readers to mix them up.

  • What imaginery games did you or your kids play?

When you were little, what "games" did you play with your imagination? What do your kids do with their imagination?

My big one was when I was younger, I would pretend I had pet unicorns and I was a princess who had to save the world. I'd run all over my parents' farm, pretending to free all the unicorns so we could do whatever it was to save the world.

BQ: Do you feel like kids don't use their imagination as much these days? It seems like when I was little, I was always playing outside for hours a day and play imaginery games. Do you think that's still common in most places or no?

  • About the name Nevaeh...?

I personally hate the name. I think it's silly, trashy and made-up.

But my question to you who also hate the name:

Would you like the name if it was spelled differently? If it was pronounced the same way but wasn't "Heaven" backwards?
