Hey There Y'all! Politics and government are my favorite areas, so you'll probably not see me answering any questions in too many other areas. I'm deeply involved in politics in my county of Travis here in the heart of Texas. I'm the Democratic precinct chair for my voting precinct, I've served as an election judge in prior elections, and have volunteered on numerous campaigns. Although I live in a very Red state, I'm fortunate enough to live in one of the few BLUE counties in all of Texas. We are like the island of BLUE surrounded by a sea of Red. Anyway, I guess you could say then politics and government are my lifeline and that I'm almost obsessed with them! Anyway, I have a wonderful family and have worked at The University of Texas at Austin for the last 8 years, also from where I graduated a year ago as a government major. I moved here from Houston in 1999 and have lived in Texas my entire life. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Hook 'em Horns!!
Can you disable the camera on a mobile phone?
I want to get a new mobile phone but the choices are very limited on those that do not have a camera. Is there any way at all to disable the camera on any of the mobile phones out there that do have one? My job does not allow an employee to bring a camera on the premises, although you can bring your mobile phone. Thanks!
6 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoThis is what I've been trying to tell everyone who supports Hillary. Did you see this?
Although this piece from the NY Times doesn't come right out and say she DOESN'T support labor and unions, it might as well. And how can she and Bill still have alliances with them? I'm a longtime, diehard Democrat and I cannot support a candidate who is hypocrite. As Democrats, how can you support a candidate who is even remotely affiliated with Wal-Mart? Wal-Mart goes against ALL Democratic principles!
11 AnswersElections1 decade agoSo, can the war proponents explain to me why we are still in Iraq based on this AP story?

We are mired in the middle of a civil war. Why not let the Iraqis settle this for themselves?
5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf you know who you are going to vote for in 2008, who is it and WHY?
I am emphasizing WHY very much! Only serious answers please. Since joining this community, I have read SO many people trying to promote who they believe ought to be elected in 2008, but I have not heard any facts as to WHY they are voting for that particular individual or prefer them over others. Give me some insight, because as it stands now, one would think that the only people running for the Dems are Hillary and Barack and for the Repubs it's Rudy, Mitt, or John McCain.
Other Dems running are John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, and Dennis Kucinich. Other Repubs include Sam Brownback and Mike Huckabee.
I would like to hear some really good reasons. I already know who I'm voting for and why. Try to convince me your candidate is the best choice and perhaps my mind could be changed?
16 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy do I get redirected to a totally different website when I click on a link from my search engine?
When doing either a Yahoo search or a Google search on a particular subject, it will display my results, but when I click on the heading or the link, it sends me to a totally bogus website that is not even related to what I clicked on. Does anyone know why this has just begun happening, and if so, do you know how to correct? It's become very annoying. I've run Spybot on the computer I'm using, but it still did not correct. Any ideas anyone?
6 AnswersInternet1 decade agoI was watching The Daily Show this evening, and Jon Stewart showed various clips of Bush appointees saying....
That they "serve at the pleasure of the president?" Anybody have any thoughts, serious or humorous, on what this exactly means? The latest victim to fall back on this line is Alberto Gonzales. Others have included Rummy, McClellan, etc. That's interesing, both of them have resigned....hmmmm....

7 AnswersCats1 decade agoI wonder what Halliburton's real reasons are for moving to Dubai?
The same company who gave Cheney a sweet deal when he left their employment, the same company who won the no-bid reconstruction contracts in Iraq, to name only a few....
I believe it is because their reputation here has been so damaged by their inadequacies and failures, they're hoping that if they move out of the country, we'll just forget about them.....hmmmm.....
What do you think?
9 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhat is liberalism?
Not in the sense opposite to conservatism, but in the context as to how would someone like Adam Smith, Tocqueville, John Stuart Mills, or even Fukayama might explain it?
2 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAnybody have any thoughts on the Scooter Libby verdict today?
Do you feel he was used as the Bush administration scapegoat to take the real attention off of Cheney, Rove, et al?
2 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoIs anyone else as tired as I am of hearing about Hillary & Barack?
The media act as if Hillary and Barack are the only Democratic candidates running? Where is the coverage of the most viable and electable candidate, John Edwards?
