  • Is it even a realistic option that Democrats didn't know about torture techniques?

The more information that comes out the more it looks as if Democrats knew about torture and were simply posturing during an election year. Is there a scenario where the democrats didn't know that could make sense? Are you telling me that democrats had no friends in the military, that Democrats had no interest in going to the prisons and seeing how they worked? Please show me a scenario backed by references where the Democrats didn't know. If you believe they did know what facts do you have to back that up?

I know very little about economics, but I think this depression is happening regardless, let the rich boys suffer with us.

  • If you support abortion or the death penalty, don't you by default support the other view?

If you claim that abortion is ok, by default you are saying that the death penalty is ok, because your arguing that life is no sacred, or for those that are not religious, that life has no value. The same for the death penalty, if you support it, aren't you in reality really supporting abortion, because your admitting that life is holds no value? What do you think, can you support one without supporting the other by default? Both positive positions offer the same argument for allowing it, some life does not have any value.

  • Does Madden for the Wii have a play clock option? ?

If not, this may be the stupidest thing ever done. Look, I think its great that they made it so anybody can play, but without a play clock, it is pointless to play the game competitively isn't it? I mean if somebody gets ahead in the fourth quarter they could simply screw off enough to make sure the other guy never gets the ball back. Surely there is some way to turn on a play clock... Anybody know how?

  • Why do criminals like David Stern always get greedy?

All he can do is call the "rogue" ref evil and a convicted criminal. Funny thats usually how criminals act, most of the time, the head of a business tries to prove their business is not criminal by making changes to prove they are honest. Stern just calls people names and tells everybody they are liars, and continues to hide everything from the public. What do you think? Trust a convicted criminal, or one that obviously just hasn't been convicted?

  • Doesn't what Donaghy say happened in 2002 sound very familiar to this year?

One sided foul calls, refs that refuse to actually call fouls... hmmmm. What do you think? is the NBA actually run by the WWE? or is it sometimes real?

  • Is banning sharp objects really a rational solution to preventing slashing sprees?

Maybe we should figure out a way to identify attackers, or fix society... nah lets just ban sharp objects, and when they find another way to kill people we will just ban that too. I am sure banning cars isn't too far away. What do you think?

  • which is more important, controlling weapons or fixing society?

According to a news report many in Japan now want to ban "large knives" Which would mean at least banning those 5 inches or larger. (the one the killer used) A car was also used in the attack, perhaps they should ban those as well. Is this the future we can look forward too in America? A place where we don't try to fix the problems with our society but instead try to take away all sharp objects.... Which is more important, fixing society or hiding the kitchen knives?

  • Per Gun ban supporters, should london look at banning knives, and all sharp objects?

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24808304/%3E1=7701

Just seems like the next logical step, I mean if banning guns doesn't stop crime and murder then I am sure banning knives will, probably need to ban cars, and pencils, as well as pens.

  • Does anybody in America really understand the education system in most European nations?

Many people including Obama have decided that College should be open to anybody that wants to try. Many incorrectly use the European model as an example of why this would in fact work. I'd like to have my understanding checked if possible by someone who is European or is very familiar with how those schools work. First, they don't allow everybody into college, your primary and secondary school work puts you on a specific track, that track prepares you for either college, trade school, or possibly just labor work, and you do not really have the option of going to college if you are placed in any of the other tracks. So the free college, is actually not free college for all, but free college for those that the state sees fit to go to college. Quite a different concept, and one that makes paying for college students more realistic. Why do you think Democratic candidates choose to ignore these realities?

  • What do you think our language tells us about Racism and Sexism?

There are millions of different ways to describe both different races, and gender differences, yet it is always wrong to use racial slurs, but rarely wrong to use gender slurs. B*** or C*** are probably tow of the most common words used in language today. Weak men, women we don't like, pretty much anything negative. Yet, its ok to use this word to describe a woman still. Do you think this shows that discrimination against women as seen as ok, while minorities have maybe made it further in terms of equality? Do you think this has affected the Presidential race?

  • Why do people from Cities pretend to be less racist than Rural communities?

I admit that it is true that people in cities likely use the N Word less, but their actions speak louder than words. Whites flee the inner city where African Americans can be found, when Blacks start to move into the suburbs the whites move even further away creating rediculous urban sprawl. They send their kids to largely white public schools, and if they can afford it, send them to even less racially diverse private schools. If they see an African American on the street they tend to cross the street to avoid them. Racism may be better disguised in the City, but its just as sickening, and just as real. segregation of classrooms and towns are not practical in small towns, like it is done in large cities.. where they have: "China town" "little mexico" and various other racial and cultural divisions. So, really, what is the honest difference between city racism and rural racism? Is there any? Why do city dwellers claim superiority while hiding from eachother?

  • What do you think about the FLDS police sting? Should the children be returned to their parents?

One could argue that the phone call was enough, even though a simple check by the police would have determined where the call came from.... I don't think the kids should be put back in that situation, but at the same time, these police in a lot of ways trampled all over the FLDS civil rights. The 'good faith' argument could be used here, but they didn't even try track down the person who said it. The court has already said that texas wrongly seized the children, could the whole fiasco be negated because police did not follow procedure? What do you think?

  • Even the college educated aren't ignorant enough to vote for Obama anymore, now what's the excuse?

The excuse from Obama and his supporters has been that uneducated people just don't understand what is best for them. Now even the educated wont vote for the man. He only got 40% of the college vote this time around. Looks like even his base is abandoning him.... So, whats the argument now, you can't blame the uneducated anymore, you going to stop the pretense and just start blaming all white people?

  • Are you automatically a racist if you vote for your own race?

This is basically what I am hearing on here. If your black and vote for Obama your racist, if your white and vote for anybody but Obama your racist.... Is this the truth?

  • Why are democrats so divided? Obama seems to be the shoe in, yet in Kentucky Hillary won by a huge margin.?

When it became clear that McCain would win the supporters of other candidates made it clear that McCain was the winner by not showing up to vote, or voting for McCain, on the other hand Obama has essentially claimed victory, yet Hillary won by an extremely large margin in Kentucky... Does this in fact show that many Democrats are still not willing to accept Obama as the candidate?

  • Should it be required that all Americans speak english?

    http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/may/19/...

An incident happened in my state that makes me say yes they should. A man may have been shot because his "english was so bad neighbors could barely understand him" It is probably practical to expect all Americans to speak english. The cops made other mistakes, but it should not be their responsibility to shout commands in 30 different languages to ensure a criminal may understand the command. What do you think?

  • Can plants feel pain? Even if we don't know is it theoretically possible?

Personally, I have come to the unfortunate opinion that at least some plants probably can feel some sort of pain. Plants have some sort of senosry ability,we know this because they will grow in the direction of sunlight, some plants will bend to follow sunlight as a daily routine. What do you think? Any sort of sources to back up your belief?
