  • National Prayer Day- what are you guys praying for?

If your prayer works and from what I read it only takes two, why not use your prayer power and end rape, child molestation or murder in the world? You are afterall the largest organized religion. Doesn't your god listen, care or is he not able to do these things? Or is he just mysterious?

  • Christians, Why waste this life?

Why continue to alter your precious time here and now in this short life we have for a hope of another life. Does it make sense that this 50-80 year life is a trial period? You worry so much about a nonexistent afterlife that you don't live the precious one you are so lucky to have.

  • Why do christians call the 10 commandments from a recited list?

When moses came back a second time with tablets and broke them. Then he goes a third time and gets a different set of commandments. This one includes not to cook young lamb in the mothers milk.

    1st- exodus 20 2-7

    2nd- 31

    3rd- 34 14-26

  • How can christianity be considered monotheistic?

I know answers will blend and make up how three is one but the bible says nothing of trinity. Even jesus says when asked of the end times that only the father knows that. Now does that mean if jesus were of of three of one he isn't all knowing? And how does that make him god then? How can three be so separate in knowledge and this not be polytheism?

  • When did the jews become damned?

Paul and gospels mostly talked about the gentiles assuming the jewish god. Paul was a jew just as jesus. Where in the bible did the jews become unsaved? Was it gospel of john or later. Matthew, mark and luke seem pro jewish/judah don't they?

  • Christians: about afterlife. What do you believe?

Do you believe we die to be resurrected later and judged? If so, do we lie unconscious, or do we reside somewhere conscious until later?

Do you believe that we immediately find our final destination upon earthly death, or is that reserved for martyrs?

Please cite scriptual references for your belief. I am former christian and now atheist. I don't ask for science and evidence in this question. I ask from the bible (not preacher words or individual philosophy) reference, why do you believe what you do.

It would be nice to know your denomination, also.

    Thanks

  • How do you envision heaven and eternity?

I dont want to die now with so much time left and i doubt i will want to leave evn when older. When a christian i wanted to live forever but i dont anymore.

A blissful happiness that never ends sounds good at first but whats the chances IF i would make it, all those i love will be there too? How will that not hurt? If it doesnt, how does that mean being me anymore. My being involves time with and memories of those i love no matter their belief. If i cant miss them, is heaven like some drug enduced state or are my memories removed?

And what about eternity. I have a much better understanding of numbers like million, trillion, billion...eternity. Sounds boring after a thousand years.

Do things change, improve or vary?

How do you envision the eternal afterlife in heaven?

  • Christians: do you understand the construction of your bible?

How many have truely researched how your bible was made? Argue science all you want but science is about natural laws whereas religion is about supernatural. I spent 35+ years believing but when i seeked the truth of these books (canons) is when i got "it". This is a very free feeling finally in my life. I see the fights of science and really disrespectful talks here but why not research these words? The arguement doesn't lie with science. It lies with the belief of the bible being the true word of god.

Supernatural belief is not real and just a way to feel assured of everlasting life. But it is not true.

It really is the the non belief that will set you free.

These books that you know are not anything special. They are just the agreed upon writings to include.

  • Why do animals get selected with unbeneficial Fossil genes?

Random variations and natural selection of those able to survive. I understand for beneficial variations, but how is it beneficial that groups and populations thrive for fossil genes not needed.

For instance: mole rats. The eyes are undeveloped because those parts of the genes are not needed. Why do populations thrive and survive that don't need sight for their environment? Why did they survive better? Blind fish in caves and so on

    Thank you

  • Thoughts on "why" there is belief in a god?

    Basic desire to survive?

I can understand why god(s) were created and that humans marveled at what they got good or bad. My thought is that the real driving force to belief is a desire to survive. I think we are the only animals with such an evolved brain to know we will die and to ponder if it continues, so when presented with an afterlife, we take the opportunity. However i understand that this desire does not constitute truth. Your thoughts?

  • Christians: why not sacrifice yourself for the guarenteed trip to heaven for children?

Since the consensus is that children go to heaven until they reach an understanding of right/wrong, would it not be the ultimate sacrifice for a christian to kill as many as possible. You have eternal damnation but you protect them from ever even being tempted to the point they will go there?

See what's the point christians? Who fills his life with more meaning - an atheist or christian? An athiest lives for this known life. An atheist doesnt teach his children that they are sinful. He teaches them to be good citizens and be moral.

  • Christians: is a child destined to heaven up until a certain age?

For instance: if a child dies at age 3 regardless of being baptized or even part of a christian family, do they go to heaven? What if they are part of an atheist or muslim family?
