So, my 8 year old Golden Retriever (male unneutered) was going for a walk on his leash. My nice neighbor lets me walk both my dogs on there 6 acres. And at the end of the street our neighbor has 4-5 dogs and has a completely fenced yard with a gate, when that gate is closed no dogs or humans can get in or out. They keep the gate open at all times and there dogs roam free. We have had two incidents with one of there dogs in the last 2 weeks. Last week my 8 month old Aussie/Retriever mix was walking on my nice neighbors property which she has allowed for about 12 years (since we moved here) and my neighbor at the end of the streets Lab/Pit mix has been coming out since there gate has been open. Well my mix was on leash like always and that Lab mix came out of no where and pinned my little 50 pound puppy on his back and started going after his neck. But no real physical damage was done, and after wards they were playing together so I just shrugged it off, just showing dominance cause after all they never had seen each other before.

Well this week, my 8 year old GR was (different dog) on leash again like always, and the Lab pit mix and him aren't normally nice to each other they puff up there chest and I pull my dog away when we normally walk him and he's around and continue walking. But this time the Pit mix got my GR pinned on the ground and BIT my dogs ear ok, lota blood at first. I took pics of it. It seemed to be healing but then today I smelt some real nasty smell and I look at my dogs ear where he got bit and this huge pussy sore/cut was there were he was bit. It's really bad it looks like a K9 tooth from the pit mix when pretty deep into flesh. I don't know why I didn't see it before probably because it was caked in blood.

My QUESTION is what are the laws, will they have to pay for my dog being on leash, there dog running up off leash off there property and onto my neighbors. And then biting my dog and giving him a really bad gash, I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow (as soon as I possibly can). Will I have to pay upfront but then can I take them to court to and try to make them give me the money it cost me?

Brief summary of what has happened in the two weeks: At first my puppy got attacked on leash not on the dog owners property but on another neighbors land, it didn't seem to be hurt no cuts or anything. Then this week (actually 2 days ago) my Golden retriever was attacked at the same place (Not on the dog owners property but my other neighbors) and this time pretty serious damage to my dogs ear. What can I do about it?
