How important is it to find your own "style"?
I hear other ohotographers talk about finding a "style". How important do you think it is for a photographer to find their own personal style? Do you think this limits someone to one type of work or post processing method?
Or can a persons style vary on many different levels? Share your thoughts, this has me wondering :)
3 AnswersPhotography10 years agoDoes a medical consent form need to be notarized?
My mother in law will be watching my children while my husband and I go on vacation. I have drafted a consent form with all the pertinent information. It states the dates effective and lists insurance information as well. My husband and I have signed and dated it, should it still be notarized as well? We want to make sure that in case of emergency, she will be able to take care of things until we arrive.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHedges for Warm climate?
I live in Florida and I am looking to put some new hedges in front of my house. It is shaded by the eave of the home the majority of the time so I am having trouble finding something that will thrive in this area. Something heat tolerant and it would be great if I didn't have to cover it during the occasional winter frost but I know I can't have it all. Would like something full and with blooms on it. NO AZALEAS. Any other ideas?
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoToy reccomendations....?
My son's 4th birthday is approaching and we want to get him one of the kids' digital cameras. I have looked at the reviews for a few different ones and they are mixed. Does anyone have any reccomendations on these toys? I have looked at kids' cameras made by fisher price, vtech and discovery kids. Any advice welcome.
2 AnswersToys1 decade agoWhat constitutes "commercial" use of....?
If I download clipart or textures from a source that lists their work as download for personal use only, can I still use that clipart or enhancement for things such as invitations, flyers and so on? I would only be giving out the invites and flyers, not selling works containing the clipart. At what point are you using the clip art for commercial use and therefore committing copyright infringement? I know some say "some rights reserved" when you read a description. Does this also prohibit from you using it for non profit purposes? Thanks in advance.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoPain in my shoulder/collarbone...?
I have talked to my Doctor about this and he said perhaps see a chiropractor. I talked to the Chiropractor and they said talk to my Doctor. Here is the issue... I have had an ache in my right shoulder for a few weeks, nothing I can't deal with. But over the past three days, it has evolved into a sharp pain almost numbing my arm at times and has spread to my collarbone. The bone is sensitive to the touch and I cannot even lift my kids or a bag of sugar without severe pain. Every once in awhile there is a stabbing pain in the collarbone but the shoulder hurts constantly. My question(s):
What type of Doctor should I see? My current Dr and Chiropractor are not of any help. Second, any ideas what it could be? I know a diagnosis cannot be given via Y!Answers but if you have an inkling of what this could be maybe it could steer me to the correct place from there. I have had mild aching in other joints as well, maybe just a bad nights sleep. I don't really know. i am a 27 yr. old female if that is of any assistance. Thanks in advance.
Pain & Pain Management1 decade agoSemi-attractive camera bag?
Does anyone know where I can find a padded camera bag that is something other than plain black or dark colors? I would like something that will hold an SLR body and three lenses, as well as a few other small supplies. Something with a strap for a tripod would be a plus. Do you know of ny online stores that might have anything like this in a bright color or pattern?
5 AnswersCameras1 decade agoWhat would actually be useful for someone deploying to Afghanistan?
What are some items that could be collected and sent overseas to an infantry preparing to head to Afghanistan? My brother is being deployed from Germany to Afghanistan and I have talked to my son's teacher about starting a donation box at his school for supplies. Besides toiletries and reading material, what could I let people know about? I want to ensure that anything collected is put to good use.
And are there any rules I should know about before shipping it? I am not able to talk with my brother at this time and we may not be able to before he leaves so I need some input soon please.

1 AnswerPhotography1 decade agoWhat do Christmas lights signify?
I love Christmas lights as much as the next guy. Actually a little more probably. I am now wondering where the tradition started? Why do we hang Christmas lights outside our homes and on our trees? Is it symbolic of something?
4 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoAre all poker games scored on the same points scale?
I am illiterate when it comes to poker but if someone finishes with 968.00 points, how much money would that be? Or does that vary from game to game and the points don't always equal the same monetary amount?

3 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoAt what point should someones past no longer be an excuse?
I hear it all the time, "He had a rough childhood" or something along those lines. It seems everyone has become a self proclaimed psychiatrist and we make excuses for others by blaming mistakes on their past. At what point do you think someone's past or childhood no longer has any bearing on their actions? I know everyone is different, but can you really excuse a cheating spouse by saying they had a rough childhood? Or an armed gunman because his parents didn't discipline him? what are your opinions?
Hypothetical question by the way.
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoHow do I find a mentor for event planning?
I am starting my own event planning business (spare me the warnings, I know how much work is involved and have been doing it for friends and family for awhile) but would like a mentor who has a lot of experience under their belt to help me learn the ins and outs of the business aspect of it. Contracts, vendor relationships, ettiquette and so on. It seems that to approach someone and request they be my mentor would be encroaching on their business, so how do I find one?
I am placing this in etiquette becasue I would like to know the most effective and unobtrusive way to approach this. I don't want to step on anyone's toes and need to know where to look and how to approach them.
4 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoHow does an event planner calculate their price?
I need to know how an event or party planner determines their fee. I've heard of it done by the number of guests and a few other ways. How do they charge their customers? And what about rentals and supplies, is that included in the fee, does the customer reimburse, or what? Curious as to how this works.
1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoThe Bryan Adams song "Heaven", does any one else sing it?
We are looking to use the song as the first dance to my brother's wedding with him and his new bride. The original Bryan Adams version is just to 80's for the wedding theme and I was wondering if any one else sang it, maybe acoustically. I know That there was a CMT crossroads episode where he and Jason Aldean sang it together, but Would rather not use a live version, which is all I can find. Does anyone know of another version or where I can find the version with Jason Aldean that is not live?

I need green flowers that can be used in a bridal boquet and centerpieces. Any suggestions? Just the name of them will do, I have a place to buy them from. They will be mixed with roses if that helps any.
6 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoWhere is the line here?
My soon to be sister in law has asked me to plan her and my brother's wedding. He is at Army boot camp and unable to talk or have any input so she and I are left to our own devices. We decided i would make a list to help guide her through the process. She told me the colors she liked, the theme, and I came up with an idea. It's at christmas time and I suggested red and chocolate brown as she wants a rustic theme. Hay bales and burlap the whole nine yards. However, today, she decided she wanted black and red and wants to keep with the rustic theme. This is all well and good. It's her wedding. She can shoose what she wants. The thing is, the ideas her friends have goven her are absolutely terrible. It's things and color combinations i've seen done before and it just does not work.
SHe decided to go with black because her sister thinks she looks "washed out" in brown. If I know that this is NOT going to make her happy, do I say something? Or let it go and have it turn out less than good. I wouldn't even be asking if I knew this wasn't going to work, trust me. I want her to love her wedding but I really think she'll be dissappointed with red and black at a wedding with hay bales.I KNOW she will. What do i do? sit back and let it go, or try to convince her otherwise?
I also know that my brother hates the color black and since he is unable to give his input, I kind of feel like I should take up for him too, it's his wedding also!

A common affirmitive response is the word "okay". Where did it come from? Is it short for something or is a term borrowed from another language besides english?
