Are any of you planning to try the 21-Day Vegan Kickstart in January? Have any of you tried it in the past?
I would love to hear feedback from people who actually tried or are planning to try the 21-Day Vegan Kickstart. It is sponsored by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).
2 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan9 years agoAre you familiar with this quotation from Shakespeare, and did you know that "beef-witted" meant stupid?
I was surprised to come across this quotation today. I had never heard it before. Now it reminds me that Archie Bunker called his son-in-law "meat head." What do you think of this idea from Shakespeare's time?
"I am a great eater of beef, and I believe that does harm to my wit."
Shakespeare
William Shakespeare (1564–1616), British dramatist, poet. Sir Andrew Aguecheek, in Twelfth Night, act 1, sc. 3, l. 85-6.
Eating beef was proverbially linked to being stupid or "beef-witted."

3 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan10 years agoWhat is your favorite recipe featuring nuts/seeds or legumes (peas, beans, or lentils)?
I am looking for an entrée or snack which gets its protein from plant-based sources. It can be vegetarian or vegan. I love spices and foods from various ethnic traditions around the world. Thanks for your help!
3 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoWhy do so many Chicago suburbs classify themselves as a village rather than a town or a city?
Many Chicago suburbs are given the name "village." It seems to be part of the official name, for example, the "Village of Glen Ellyn." Did someone feel this would help promote tourism, does it relate to any legal or official description, or is it completely based upon tradition? I am just curious about the history of how this practice was started. Thank you for your help!
5 AnswersChicago1 decade agoWhat was your favorite hand-clapping rhyme when you were a child?
Say, say oh playmate,
Come out and play with me,
And bring your dollies three,
Climb up my apple tree.
Slide down my rain barrel,
Into my cellar door,
And we'll be jolly friends,
Forever more - more - more!
Verse 2
Say, say oh playmate,
I cannot play with you,
My dolly has the flu,
Boohoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo.
Ain't got no rain barrel,
Ain't got no cellar door,
But we'll be jolly friends,
Forever more,more, more,more,more.
1 AnswerWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhat favorite book did your parents read to you over and over again when you were a child?
Some of you might have fond memories of a particular book which you kept asking your parents to read to you. I am interested in what you can remember about having someone read to you.
10 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoParents, how much time do you spend reading to your kids?
I am wondering about how often you read to them, what you read to them, how much you dislike or enjoy reading to them, and whether or not you think it makes any difference. Thank you for sharing!
2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoHow concerned are you about the nutritional quality of lunches at your local school?
I am wondering if people see this as an important educational issue. Please describe the trend at your local school. Let me know if there are plenty of nutritious choices available for those who want them. Many people have been excited about the work of Jamie Oliver, Michelle Obama, Rachel Ray, Alice Waters, and others. Now I am thinking about whether or not the families across America are starting to see some real changes.

2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhat are you doing to improve nutrition in your local school cafeteria?
Hopefully you have all heard about the efforts of Jamie Oliver, Michelle Obama, Rachael Ray, and Alice Waters. I would like to hear about the smaller efforts (beginning steps) that you see at your local schools to help fight childhood obesity.
