  • Restore Windows 7 onto new RAID 0 volume?

I'm looking at putting my two 1TB seagate drives into RAID 0. Now my question is if I did a full backup of my Windows 7 Ultimate install that is currently installed on just one of the two drives (the second drive was backup until I got my new 2TB drive to replace it), would I be able to restore that backup onto the new RAID 0 setup using Windows regular restore process? Basically I just don't want to have to go through and do a fresh install of Windows since there is nothing wrong with my current install.

  • Are these Kicker speakers good?

I am looking at upgrading the factory sound system in my "new" car. The old speakers sound like crap, and I'm looking to throw in some new ones that have decent bass at a decent price.

I guess my first big question is whether or not Kicker overall as a brand is good quality, and then more specifically whether or not the two speakers listed below are any good. They will be hooked up to a factory head unit until I get the cash together to upgrade it as well, and then possibly an amp in a year or two.

    Here's the speakers...

  • Backing up internal hard drive to another internal hard drive. Are there any potential issues?

I just recently had to replace the hard drive in my desktop. When I did so I went ahead and upgraded from a 500GB drive to a 1TB one. The problem being that my external backup drive is only 500GB. I'm trying to decide between just getting another 1TB internal drive, or getting a slower, more expensive 1TB external drive. The problem is I've never really heard anyone mention using an internal drive as backup outside of a RAID. It would NOT be a RAID setup since I don't really want to risk an accidental erasure of both drives, and I don't want to have to go through the hassles of setting up and maintaining it. So my question to you guys is are there any downsides to using an internal hard drive as a backup instead of an external? I for the life of me can't really think of one, but its midnight and well... its me.

  • Is the Intel Core 2 Duo Q6600 a good proc for $190?

I am going to be building my first computer pretty soon, and am trying to decide on what processor to purchase. I only want to spend around $800-$900 on the entire computer.

My question is whether or not the Core 2 Duo Q6600 is a good processor for $190. It will be used mostly for some video encoding, a bit of gaming, light photo editing, and lots of programming.

If you need more information just say so in the answer, and more will be provided within a day, so remember to check back.

Also, if you know of any good forums where I could ask these types of questions I would be very appreciative if you would tell me.

    Thanks for any answers provided.

  • Java Minesweeper project question. JButtons specifically?

In my Java programming class we have been working on an individual project where we each make our own copy of minesweeper. I've gotten quite a bit done, but ran into a small problem. I don't know how to find the position of the button that they click in the grid layout.

Basically I have a field of JButtons attached to a JPanel in a grid layout. My problem is that I don't know how to find the (x, y) position of a JButton on the grid when it is clicked. I need these coordinates because they will then be fed to my 2D array of button objects that will actually determine what is done after the JButton is clicked. I've gone through the Actionlistener, GridLayout, and JButton entries on the API, but couldn't find anything to help me. Does anyone out there have an idea of how I could find the (x, y) position in the grid for the JButton that is clicked? Or should I try to do this in a different way?

Thanks in advance for any help.

In my Western Civ class I am being required to watch a movie based sometime in the years we cover, and write a paper about the movie. I was just wondering if anyone out there had any movies they really enjoyed that were based between 1300 AD and 1800 AD.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Power lost while running air conditioner?

So, I drive a 1995 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight with 155,000 miles on its 3.8L V6 engine. The problem is that whenever I turn the AC on there is a noticeable loss of power. I was just wondering if this was normal for a car with so many miles on it? Or, is there something wrong with it? Its not really a big issue just an annoyance, and if it causes the car to lose some power that means I'm burning even more gas than normal to run AC while driving. (less power = more gas burnt to achieve same speed)

Any ideas what could be causing it?

  • Question on federal low speed electric bicycle laws.?

Well I have been looking at getting a nice electric scooter, and ran across this little pdf on a number of scooter sites... http://www.iloveebikes.com/Distributorfiles/FEDreg... . When I read this what I understood was that any vehicle that met the requirements are to be considered a bicycle, and the owner is not forced to follow any stricter laws made by a state. If this is true then why can the state of Ohio make it so that only the Mopeds on their list of acceptable mopeds are legally allowed on Ohio roads? Seems to me like they don't have any choice but to allow ANY electric scooter that meets the federal requirements to be used on their roads.

Do you agree or am I just really pissed off that no matter what I do Ohio's freaking BS laws stop anyone from getting a simple gas saving vehicle without having to bend over and take it up the a**?

  • Ballpark estimate of circut breaker upgrade?

My parents and I are looking at upgrading the circut breaker in our 1960's home. I believe they said that we would only need to upgrade the box, and wouldn't have to worry about replacing the wiring as it is still in good condition. Are there any electricians or people who have recently done the same out there who could tell me about how much it will cost?

I'm asking this because I plan on paying at least 1/3 of the costs to upgrade because part of the reason it is necessary is the amount of electronic equipment I have, and how much power it all pulls.

  • Is this a good barebones kit?

What I'm running right now isn't upgradeable, so I decided that I need to get a new one. I already have XP, so there's no worries about kits not having Operating Systems. I'm really just looking around right now trying to decide how much I need to save to get a good one.

  • Java Math.pow issues?

I''m having issues with my program ignoring the Math.pow portion of my calculations.

Here's the line that is having the issues...

    volume = (Math.pow(radius,3) * 4 * Math.PI) / 3;

I can't spot any obvious issues, but as I said my program seems just just replace the whole "Math.pow(radius, 3)" part with a 1 or something.

  • Help with Windows XP Home Workgroup?

I have two computers that I am trying to connect through a workgroup. The first computer is connected directly to my Linksys router. The second computer is connected to a Linksys USB Wireless Receiver. They are both set to the MSHOME workgroup. On the first computer I can see icons for both computers, but when I double click on the icon for the second computer it pops up the message "\\Family-desktop is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The Network path was not found."

I have file and printer sharing permissions set to allow, and have turned off both Windows Firewalls. I have been trying to get this to work for a while, and am getting a little tired of it. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
