  • What is a good pedometer/lifestyle tracker for iphone?

Hi, I am looking for a pedometer for iPhone that tracks the steps I take every day. But I want it to not track steps if I am in a car or riding the bus. I want it to be on all day every day - which would require GPS. But most of the GPS based pedometers don't ignore drive time.

Is there a good app that does this?

  • Help! I over-fertilized my tomatoes. Can I fix?

I have one of those self watering containers made for tomatoes. I put in a lot of miracle grow fertilizer 2 days ago. Today the leaves are brown and shriveled. But the plants themselves look strong. Is there a way to save my plants or did I kill them?

  • How to clean & shine All-Clad stainless cookware?

We have a set of All-Clad stainless cookware. Over the years, a few of the pans have developed stubborn stains on the outside that make them look ugly. (We hang them overhead in our kitchen.)

I've tried many different cleansers and Brillo pads, I even took a dremel to the bottom of one. But nothing seems to remove what appears to be cooked on grease spots

Any suggestions on how to get them shiny again?

    Thank you!

  • Inexpensive Visual Studio 2008 license for Independent developer?

I am a small independent developer who wants to start using Visual Studio 2008 professional to do my work. There used to be deals for smaller developers such as signing up with MSDN or getting an "expert" bundle type of license. I was wondering the least expensive way to go about getting a license outside of an ebay auction (been burned before).

Do you know of any special deals or pricing on Visual Studio 2008 professional? Thanks in advance!

  • Vista SP 1 froze on 2 out of 3 - is it corrupt?

I had to rebuild my computer yesterday. Installed using the factory CDs. Ran all the microsoft patches and finally got Vista SP1 to download and install. When I came in this morning (12 hours later). It was stuck on the boot up screen that said "Windows is updating 2 out of 3 items 0% complete.

I powered off the PC and booted back up. It appears service pack 1 IS installed. But I am worried it is corrupted.

Is there any way to check the validity of the install? What would you do at this point?

Windows update shows I can install service pack 2 now. Should I?

    Thanks

  • If I learn Adobe Flex & Actionscript will I learn JS automatically?

Hi, I am having trouble focusing on what language to learn next. I think Flex/AIR look fun and exciting. But I also see the power of javascript.

What I am wondering is if I learn Flex and Air, will I learn JS by default? Or at least enough to get by?

  • How do you fix a battery when it's polarity has reversed itself?

I took apart a dead Roomba Battery pack to see if I could replace a few cells and found that one of the battery's polarity had switched from negative to positive. I've never seen this. Luckily it was at a very low charge.

Do you know how to reverse polarity on a NiMH battery so I can reuse it? Or am I out of luck?

My cellphone is acting as if it's going to fail at any moment. I've got 3 months left to my contract with Sprint.

I really want an iPhone but am wondering what hardware enhancements MIGHT be available with the new OS in July or when the new one comes out.

What would you do? Wait or buy today? And Why?

  • My PC Can't write to thumb drives - others can... why?

I've been pulling my hair out over this issue.

My work PC will not write to or format thumb drives. I can format a new thumb drive from a neighboring PC and put it into my computer. When I do, everything looks right. And it APPEARS to let me copy a file to it. But once I remove the drive and put it back in, the file(s) are gone!

Does anyone know where I can start to look for a solution to this?

    Thanks!

  • Replace dual core with quad core on Windows XP SP3?

I have checked my motherboard and bios. My fairly new motherboard can indeed accept a quad core processor.

But what I was wondering is would I have to reinstall the OS (XP Service Pack 3) for it to recognize the 4 cores? Are there any other problems to be on the lookout for if I swap out a dual core for a quad core processor?

  • On Vista Home Premium Notebook, Will I get a Performance boost from adding 2 GB RAM?

I own an HP Pavilion dv9000 that came with 1GB of Ram. I have added another gig bringing it up to 2GB. But I can replace the 2 existing RAM sticks with 2GB sticks.

If I boost it up to 4GB can I expect a performance increase? If so, is it enough to make the purchase worthwhile? Thanks

  • Which is faster 100 Base-T or 802.11N?

I was setting up my new wireless N router when it occurred to me that 300Mbps (expected speed) might be faster than 100 base T. But I was wondering in the real world how it stacks up if I have great signal strength.

Would putting in an N card beat my 100base t Ethernet connection?
