I'm in my final year of GCSE's, next year I plan to take English literature, English Language, Philosophy and History for AS levels. I want to study English Literature at university and, eventually be writing fiction books. I love Harry Potter, Dr Pepper, Rupert Grint, Coffee and mango chutney on crumpets. :P

  • Fallen out with my friend, should I still do her a favor I commited to?

A close friend of mine went to college at the start of the academic year and I stayed at school to attend the sixth form. My friend (friend A) and I have always argued a lot, but now we don't see eachother every day it's harder to make up. We see eachother most weekend and some days after school but she always gets crazy angry when I do anything with my other friends (even when she went to school she'd get jealous of my other friendships, but it's worse now).

Anyway, she's studying photography at college and asked me to model for her coursework project about a month ago, we were fine at the time and I agreed. Since then another friend of mine (friend B) invited me to the cinema with her, and said to invite friend A along. When I asked friend A she said she didn't want to see the film with friend B (even though they used to be good friends) and asked me to see it with her seperately. I said no because I didn't want to pay for a film twice, but that I'd do something seperate with friend A. She then had a strop over text and stopped messaging me for about a week. She was meant to sleep over at my house that Friday but didn't show.

My cinema plans with friend B were made for tomorrow and we invited a coupl other friends along. We were also invited to a group thing after school the same day as we were going to the cinema, so we decided to go to the group thing then go to the cinema that night. Then friend A texted me and said that she needed some practise photos for her project on friday and could I come to her college after school. I didn't want to start another argument so I cancelled my group plans and said I'd meet everyone at the cinema later. Then friend A wanted to stay friday night after the shoot and I told her no because I had cinema plans, but she was still welcome to come if she wished. At this point she sent me a series of log messages about how I no longer make any effortin our friendship and don't text/ call enough. I sent a reply in my defence, and she claimed to be 'too ill and upset' to read my messages.

The next morning (Tuesday) I texted telling her to find another model for friday, and she said that exactly proved her point. I replied I was doing it because if that was her opinion of me I may as well conform to it, and she might better understand that if she bothered reading half my texts. She completely dismissed this and said, "I can't get anyone else, I don't have another friend." and "I'll be at the train sation on friday, and hoping you'll get off".

We haven't spoken since then. Thing is, she used to be really popular, but her irrational mood swings and jealousy led to a lot of arguments and eventually everyone but myself and her boyfriend deserted her. Now she gets jealous and angry about the slightest thing and tries to control everything I do. So should I go to her shoot tomorrow? On the one hand I made a commitment and should stick to it, plus I don't want to lose her friendship forever, but on the flip side I'm still upset by what she's said and don't want to just do what she orders me too.

Sorry for the length of this! Thank you so much if you've read this far! :)

  • My friends boyfriend hit her, what should I do?

My two best friends started going out when they were 13. They're 17 now, and just recently he's started being violent. I know them both really well, and can't imagine him being violent. He's always been (at least in front of me) very calm and caring towards her. She can be irrational and get mood swings, and because of this they often argue. Four months ago he pinned her down twice and was a bit rough during two heated argument. She dumped him and they were apart for three months. Recently, they got back together. He was incredibly sorry for what he'd done and had even called me crying about it and asking what he should do (I told him the damage was done and he should leave her alone). Anyway, they got back together, and yesterday they left to go on holiday together. But she called me to today in tears because he properly hit her today, and there's no way for her to leave without him so she's stuck there for a week. She doesn't want to dump him because she "loves him too much". I don't know what to do about it or what to advice her, but I'm really scared about it and can't believe the guy I've known and trusted and been friends with so long could turn on her like this. She still has faint marks on her arms from the first time he got violent months ago, and she says he's left a much worse mark this time.

    What can I do?

  • Why do you follow moral absolutism?

Writing an essay with the title 'Explain what is meant be Moral Absolutism'. I'm nearly finished but wanted to add in some reasons why people would follow it over other ethical theories, like relativism, and also some examples of how people have applied it in their lives. If you're a absolutist, could you please explain why that is and what decisions this leads you to?

    Thanks a lot! :)

  • What are these tiny black jumping bugs?

5 days ago I noticed a couple of these jumping bugs on my bed, I assumed they were fleas because we have 3 cats. I changed the sheets, hovered and gave the cats spot-on (gets rid of fleas). A couple of days later I was walking around in bare feet and noticed that loads of these bugs were jumping on my feet- at least ten or so on each foot. I hovered again and changed the sheets on my bed again, and was later walking in bare feet and couldn't see the bugs.

Then today I was revising on my bed and I saw one jump on my hand, so I stepped on to the carpet and they were all over my feet again. I just hovered and they seem to have disappeared for now.

I got a closer look at one today and I'm certain they're not fleas. They are tiny, black and can jump. They don't seem to bite or hurt. There are a few on the bed but most seem to be on the carpet. I can only find them in my room-nowhere else in the house. I live in England.

Any ideas what they are or how to get rid of them? Thank you!

  • What grade did I get on this practise paper?

Just did the January 2010 AQA Unit 2 biology paper as practice for my exam tomorrow. I got 37/45, does anyone know what grade this is equivalent to? Even an approximation would be helpful. Thanks a lot :)

  • Can you explain the Star Wars movies to me?

Hey, I'm a teenage girl who is totally clueless about Star Wars. A couple of these guys I know were going on and on about Star Wars the other day, so I was just nodding along as if I knew what the hell they were talking about! Anyways, I was wondering if someone could summarise the story line of these films to me in a really simple way? I know I could watch them but apparently there's 9 of them and I really can't be bothered...

    Thanks in advance :)

  • How do you relieve exam stress?

My final GCSE exams are in a few weeks and I am stressing out! Everyone always goes on about how I should be getting A's and A*'s and I'm so scared of disappointing everyone. I really want to get into a top university like Oxford to study English Literature after my A-Levels so I really need to get good grades. I've taken loads of Maths mocks but keep getting B's (just a couple marks off an A though). I know a B is a really good grade, but it kind of feels like a fail because I know my parents expect better and if I'm aiming for those top universities I think I should be aiming for straight A's. I spend most weekends with my friends and play badminton every Thursday to try and balance my studying with other stuff, but even so all I can think about is exams. I'm so scared of messing up and I'm always in a bad mood because I'm worrying so much.

So my question is what do/did you do to stop yourself from getting to stressed about exams. Thanks. :)

  • 16 things to do before I turn 16?

So, I'm totally fed up of people stereotyping me as the 'good girl' with the straight As who always follows the rules etc etc. I know that's not a bad thing, but I just want to have fun before I turn old and boring! Haha, anyway, my birthday is in 3 months so I figured I'd write a list of 16 fun and crazy things I can do by then that will prove there's more to me than the 'good girl' exterior. My best friend is going to help me complete the list too, here's are the ideas we have so far:

Kiss someone just because I can

Dye my hair a shocking colour

    Get drunk

    Smoke a cigarette

    Go to a party

Play spin the bottle or strip poker

Do a really good prank call

    Go skinny dipping

Slap someone really hard who deserves it

    Flirt with a stranger

    Dance in public

Say "Yes" to everything for 1 week

    Sleep under the stars

That's 13 things, but I'm not sure whether to include all of them or not, so I need more ideas! :) Thanks

  • Does friends with benefits ever work?

Okay, so one of my best friends is a guy. We're really close (although we argue a lot) and have known each other for about two years. There has never been anything romantic about our relationship, although he often tells me that he thinks I'm beautiful or that I look good in certain outfits. Anyway, we were sharing a portion of chips at lunch today and when I had one chip sort of half in my mouth he bit the other half, and we ended up having a bit of a kiss. We haven't really talked about it, since. I definitely don't want a full on relationship right now, and I'm pretty sure he's still in love with his ex. So my question is whether or not it could work if we did the friends with benefits thing. I think he'd like the idea, but I don't want to lose him as a friend and I don't want messy feelings in the way!

Lol, what do you think I should do?

  • Why hasn't he called me?

That's like, the worlds most typical teen girl question ever, I know! Lol...

Anyways my friend and I were at this concert on Saturday (T4 Stars) and we met these two guys while we were there. We'd been flirting and laughing with them all the way through and then when Example was like "Grab someone to dance with" one of the guys grabbed me around the waist. We were getting really close and at the end of song we were snuggled right in together, my friend and his friend were having a bit of a snog next to us, and he tried to kiss me but I turned my head and carried on dancing because I'd only known the guy about 3 hours. He didn't seem that bothered though because he was still all over me and at the end of the night I gave him my number, but he hasn't called, texted or face booked me. Why? Was he just flirting for a bit of a snog, or is he justt shy?

  • Opinions on these poems please?

    1) Even Then...

Even when all the worlds decayed,

and in neat rows the dead are laid,

and among the rows lay You an I,

nobody left to mourn or cry.

    Even when the tide invades,

and all that's left is the echo of a scream so afraid,

floating corpses is all that's left,

the earth is silent, not a single breath.

Even when fire burns us with fierce hatred,

and together we wait for death, breath bated,

all the trees are engulfed, the world is gone,

never again the wolfs howl, the child's laugh, the birds song.

    Even at the very end.

    Even then,

    I will love you.

    2) Nature

    The eye of a hurricane.

Like an oasis in a desert,

I can hear the screams of pain,

and see the blood of people hurt,

    houses crashing to the ground,

    ferocious fires begin to grow,

    Hell erupts from all around.

Though I'm safe, I'm all alone.

From where I stand it's eerie silent and still,

watching in horror as nature kills.

  • Did Darwin Kill God? Opinions needed!?

Writing essay on whether evolution proves God does not exist. I will be arguing against creationists who take the bible literally and I will suggest that the bible was always meant as metaphorical to teach morals. I will also be analyzing causation theory. I am interested to know peoples opinions on this so I can have more varied arguments in my essay. All opinions are welcomed and respected. Personally I am an atheist but I want to put across a fairly balanced argument.

    Thanks :)

  • My friend has bulimia, how can I help her?

Last year my friend went through a 'phase' of about 6 months where she'd make herself sick about twice a week (when ever whe was alone in her house). She was 15 at the time and she confided in me, her boyfriend and 4 other friends of ours. Despite my other friends telling me not to, and against her wishes, I told a teacher. This didn't help at all though because when confronted she denied all and the teacher said there was nothing more they could do. She did stop for a while, but she has recently started making herself sick again. We are 16 now and at first she only told her boyfriend. She told me during an argument the last week. Nobody else knows and she doesn't want help. She is doing it much more than last time and I'm scared she may do something drastic, like killing herself, because if she argues or gets upset then she gets really emotional and unpredictable. I don't think telling a teacher would help anymore than it did last time, but I need to do something! Please help me.
