Trouble at the Pharmacy filling new oxycodone script?
Trouble filling a script for Oxycontin because i was "too early" (one day, mind you). I have no idea about the laws, or rules about this sort of thing. I was recently diagnosed with a debilitating disease, not life threatening in the near future, but still tough as I am only 34 with 2 small children. Anyway, my pain management team started me on a small dose of Oxycontin in June. They have since increased the dose, but from talking to other pain patients it is still on the low side (5mg/3x day). I always take my script to the same pharmacy every month when I return from the doctor. Yesterday I went through the drive thru at the same pharmacy and they abruptly denied to fill it, saying that I ALWAYS fill my scripts early & you have 7 days per year to fill a script early and I have already used all of them. First of all, I was unaware of this "7 day" rule, and secondly I was coming FROM the Dr at the time. Why wouldn't the Dr warn me of this? And is it really necessary to say they wouldn't fill it yesterday, but they will fill it today?
I asked to speak to the pharmacist and she treated me like the scum of the earth. I just wanted to know why I had to come back. She asked me, "well, don't you still have pills?" I told her I had a few & she told me to "come back tomorrow. It's the law"
Ugh...frustrating!
5 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoMy due date was just bumped back 2 wks. Should I be concerned?
I had my mid-pregnancy ultrasound yesterday. According to the first day of my last period, I am 20 wks pregnant, but the baby only measured 18 wks. The midwife acted like it was no big deal and just bumped my due date back 2 wks.
I'm worried because I take beta blockers for high blood pressure and I have gall bladder disease, both of which can affect the size of the fetus. In fact, at my surgery consult for the gall bladder the Dr said he would take my gall bladder now if the baby measured small at ultrasound.
This date change would also mean I had a positive pregnancy test at 3 wks after 1st day of last period and a strong heartbeat was detected at 7 wks with doppler. My gut is telling me to get a second opinion, although I don't want to overreact if it's really nothing.
11 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoCould lymphedema be a possibility after the removal of one lymph node?
I had a lymph node removed from my lower left back in March, 2006. The surgeon thought he was going after a lipoma, but it turned out to be a herniated lymph node.
I've had pain ever since the surgery, but I developed swelling around the sacrum after a 2 1/2 hr flight in Feb 07. The swelling has never left and varies in intensity. The tissue around the sacral area feels "crunchy." I am currently in physical therapy and the therapist can feel pockets of fluid as well as several knots and spasms.
I must admit, the pain is severe at times. I really can't imagine living this way forever, although I'm having a hard time getting any Dr to take me seriously.
I know it's a stretch, but could this be a form of lymphedema? The swelling is not so severe that it has deformed my back, but my soft tissue feels crunchy and the pain is horrible.
ANY suggestions would be great!
2 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoWhat are the future consequences of a failed background check?
I am a 32 yr old married mother of one. I just graduated with my MA in Criminal Justice. I was offered a job as a crime analyst, provided I pass their standard background check. I was given a questionnaire about my criminal history (i have none) and drug use. They warned me to be completely honest and I was. I revealed that I had experimented with various drugs in my early to mid twenties. Here's my drug history: ecstacy- one time, mushrooms- one time, pot- a few times, cocaine- a few times. This was enough to get me disqualified for employment at ANY TIME with this organization.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice. These things happened before I even went to graduate school. So, does that mean my degree is worthless?
8 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoDo supermarket butchers mix old ground beef with new?
I have had this happen to me quite a few times- I buy a package of what appears to be nice, fresh ground beef but when I break it open at home, the middle is greyish-brown. I know all the theories about oxidation, but that theory would not explain the old, musty smell associated with the grey-brown meat. I think they might be covering the old meat with fresh in order to sell it. Anyone have any inside info?

24 AnswersFast Food1 decade agoDoes the color of a person's blood signify anything?
When getting my blood drawn at the lab, I have always noticed that blood comes in many shades.
I had blood drawn today and it was so dark, it was almost black. I had a baby in July and remember my blood being a brighter shade of red while I was pregnant.
Do the differing colors of blood mean anything?

4 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoCan anyone reccommend a car seat that has good head/neck support for a newborn?
We have a Graco Snugride car seat and I am not happy with the way my daughter's head always flops to one side. We even have one of those head support inserts, but that doesn't even work to hold her head up.
I need to make a 3 hr. trip in the car this weekend and was wondering if anyone knows of a car seat that would hold her head in place?
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow long do dissolvable stitches (used to repair a tear during vaginal delivery) take to dissolve?
I had my daughter three weeks ago tomorrow. I tore in three places which the Dr. repaired with dissolvable stitches. I finally got the nerve to look at the area and the stitches are still there! Is this normal???
7 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoBreastfeeding problem. Any suggestions?
I had a baby on July 4th. She had some respiratory problems and is now in the NICU. I have been staying with her at the hospital in order to feed her, but I have recently been having problems expressing milk. My breasts are HUGE and full but when I try to pump little to nothing comes out.
I'm at home right now getting some rest. My blood pressure went through the roof last night, so the Dr has me on bed rest. Maybe the stress of the past week is not letting me "let down." IDK. My husband and I are just worried that I will stop producing milk if this keeps going the way it's going.
Oh, I also have a hospital-grade pump at home and that isn't even working! Please help!
9 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoToys R Us doesn't accept Babies R Us coupons?
I'm just a few weeks away from having my first baby. My mother came to visit to help with last minute preparations. She brought with her a bunch of Babies R Us coupons. The city I live in doesn't have a Babies R Us, but we have a Toys R Us with a baby department. We went there with coupons in hand.
When we tried to use the coupons the cashier told us they did not accept Babies R Us coupons. She acted like we were idiots for trying to use them. Now, isn't it the same company??? It seems like they would honor the coupons. Anyone else have this problem? I'm not sure if I should let it go or try calling customer service.

We're just about to have our first child and I have no idea what babysitters are making these days. I used to make between $1-$5/hr. but that was a looooong time ago ;)
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoCan anything be done to eliminate set-in pet stains and odors?
We moved into a rental townhouse in early spring. At first, I noticed an odor that wasn't so pleasant but I attributed this to it being a new place and figured it would dissipate once we cleaned and get settled. Well, the odor has only gotten WORSE because it is from urine stains in the carpet and the warm weather and humidity really brings it out. The landlord had the carpets steam-cleaned right before we moved in and then again 2 wks ago after I complained about the smell. The problem is still just as bad. We are expecting our first baby in just under a month and it's driving me crazy to think we have to bring her home to this environment! To make matters worse, we have a 9 yr old golden retiever. She is a wonderful dog and we have NEVER had problems with her peeing inside. Our landlord has decided that it is our dog that is the problem. I stay at home and would notice wet spots if she were going inside. Is there any way to prove that the stains are old? Any sure way to get rid?
