  • Can you identify this archer?

So I remember looking up information on famous archers a while back. I wound up finding one who originated in a book from Asia. Although he was renowned for being an excellent archer (and, if I recall correctly, the book title had something to do with his archery), he was even more famous for his hand-to-hand combat skills. I simply CANNOT figure out what his name was, since I've cleared my history long ago and don't remember the exact phrase I used to look it up. The site I ended up finding it on was a forum comparing famous archers and I remember people arguing about whether he was really considered an archer above all else.

You now know pretty much everything I can remember. Can anybody assist me in this endeavor?

  • Can Fantasy Grounds make noise?

So I've been playing on Fantasy Grounds with my friends. I was wondering if there was a way to have it make a noise whenever someone types in the chat box. It's slow and I normally tab out to other programs while waiting for a response. I just can't tell when that response has come.

  • Is legal marijuana still legal?

So, I live in Michigan, one of the states where it is legal to grow and distribute marijuana for medical purposes provided you have a permit from the state. Rumor has it, though, that even though it is legal to do so by state law, the federal government can just take a list of the licensed individuals, raid all of their houses, and charge them for possession and distribution of an illegal drug since it is illegal to grow or distribute marijuana by federal law.

Now, this is partially based off a lawsuit from around a decade ago in California, where they allowed pharmacies to distribute some marijuana and the Feds rushed in and started charging them for selling illegal drugs. The individual who I was talking to hadn't heard anything about the case since then and assumed it was still going on. This seems kind of fishy to me, since it would mean the people who were trying to stop the proposal from being passed didn't mention this amusing loophole that had so much anti-marijuana potential.

  • How much does driving in 4 wheel drive lower the MPG from driving in 2 wheel drive?

For a 2005 Jeep Liberty, does driving in 4 wheel drive cut its MPG in half, since twice as many wheels are operating? If not, about how much MPG is lost?

  • What should I do about a cut on my cat's paws?

My cat just came in and he's got some cuts on his front paws. One of them is a cut and the other is either a scrape or something. We've pinned the poor guy down for now (minimize the spread of cat-blood) but are unsure about whether it's necessary to take him to the vet right now or what since this doesn't look like a very severe injury.

  • How do you fix downloaded files when they're corrupted?

So I found this neat program and downloaded it. It came in 10 pieces and I used HJoin to put it together. However, when I try to extract it, it gives an errors such as "Data error in 'PROGRAMNAME/data10_2.dat'. File is broken." There are quite a few files like this, all of them as broken files.

My question: How can I fix them? I've been redownloading them a bit but it seems to just add problems. I'm also not too sure about which broken files belong to which download.

  • How can I update Apprentice?

I installed Apprentice a while ago and am updated to the Shards of Alara set. However, I cannot seem to get Conflux, M10 etc.

    1) I've downloaded the patches and replaced the files, but nothing changed.

    2) I then went and deleted everything except the Graphics fold and I could STILL play just as well as before. I even specifically deleted the Decks folder and I can still use all my decks.

    3) When I deleted the Apprentice folder from Program Files and reinstalled, it was still able to load my decks (which were still in my recycle bin).

I just can't seem to win. The only conclusion I've been able to come to is that it is saving to some other folder (even though its Properties and save as options tell me it's going to Program Files). Is there anyone who knows a reliable way to fix this?

  • Why doesn't Funimation deal with fansubbers?

So, I've noticed that Funimation seems to go after fansubbers whenever they copyright an anime. This began to confuse me when they started releasing their own subs for said anime shortly thereafter for free online. Why don't they just strike a deal with the fansubbers? The fansubs are:

    1) ...difficult to get rid of. You can't actually punish the people who view it, just the seeders and hosts. Therefore, there're several copies that get spread around Youtube and other hosts when the episode comes out. They do get removed in about a week, but most fans have seen it by then. And lets not even start on seeders...

    2) ...include karaoke. Only the speediest subs don't include the words and translation for the lyrics in the opening and ending themes. Only a few of those don't turn the words in the lyrics into karaoke (just in case someone wants to sing along >.<). Yuurisan subs actually did this during an episode of D.Gray-man when two of the characters started singing. Funimation doesn't do this at all.

    3) ...in existence. This is the most puzzling. Most subbers do it for free as a community thing. Funimation could offer the group $50 an episode or something in exchange for written approval to use their subs on their site (and perhaps DVDs). Most subbers really just want credit. They'd be like interns.

    4) ...accurate translations. This one is just one I usually just hear others whining about, but I've noticed one or two moments where my pidgin Japanese tells me that they took artistic license with their translation. I've never seen people complain that way about subbers, except for when they stopped subbing Soul Eater and someone subbed it with Babblefish. Funimation isn't anywhere NEAR that bad, but flaws seem to exist.

Yuurisan's in-episode karaoke is below (0:38). Most karaoke are like this.

  • Can Dawn of War II play via LAN if nobody has Steam?

My friend doesn't have Steam and, in fact, it tends to cause his computer to crash. We learned this the hard way. I casually checked out the DoW website only to find out that DoWII had been released a while ago. However, they said that DoWII requires Steam to play online. I'm wondering whether it goes beyond that and Steam is necessary for all multiplayer formats or not.

    Please and thank you.

  • Bleach Shunpou vs MSN Shundou?

In Bleach the shinigami use a technique that they call "shunpou" to instantly travel between two locations (supposed to be instant, anyway). About midway through Mahou Sensei Negima!, they introduced Instant Movement as the same concept. However, recently some of the translators left it in its Japanese form, "shundou".

I am wondering why they are named very similarly but not identically. Can it be read either way and left up to the editors or is it just a random change in letter to make the former or later seem more unique?

  • How do I do this pnp BJT small signal analysis?

OK, so I've got this pnp transistor here and I have to find the current and voltage amplification. However, I seem to have taken some...below average notes (it seems I really only took notes on the npn transistors). The circuit doesn't have a resistor (R_c) in the collector side of the transistor and my equations rely off it. I know that it is final/initial, but I need the equations to find the final and initial voltage as well as the final and initial current.

  • Chicago style citation?

OK, so I was wondering about what dates and locations to use. The book I am using right now was originally printed in Germany in 1968, but it was reprinted in 1991 by the University of Michigan. So I've got two choices to use for citation. Which one is correct?

  • Which anime battle is the best?

Out of any action anime you've seen, which battles are the best? Notable battles include Ichigo vs Byakuya in episode 50ish or the battle in episode 103 of D.Gray-man. Give the fighters, the episode number (wikipedia generally has episode lists), and why it's so BA.

  • Where did this photon quote come from?

I remember hearing about the phrase "Photons are photons are photons" from my physics professor last semester and I was wondering where he got it from. I thought he quoted someone else but Google gives only one result for that, and it's an indirect quote that wasn't cited. Does anyone know where it came from?

  • Magic the Gathering: Elder Dragon Highlander-Norin?

What is EDH? It's an MTG variant!

    http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~geduggan/EDH_rules.htm...

    Who is this Norin fellow?

    http://beta.gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Detail...

I've decided to make a Norin the Wary based Magic the Gathering deck in EDH format (he's my general). This is mostly just to amuse myself. However, one look at Norin tells me that it won't be easy. I've already found Pandemonium and Confusion in the Ranks, but what other spells should I include to abuse this fellow? Practically any suggestions are welcome.

  • How do you add karaoke lyrics?

I'm attempting to make a music video, but Window's Movie Maker 6.0 is being WORTHLESS in terms of help. I'm trying to do the same thing you see on subbed anime, where the words color in when they're spoken (so people can karaoke, go figure). I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do this properly.

    1) I can't find a Library tab anywhere (rather aggravating; it's probably got a different name) so the help feature can't help me. And when I say "anywhere", I mean I've searched in virtually every feature (except the one it's in, of course).

    2) I tried to do it with normal titles, but guess what?! It won't let you change the color of individual words. It's all one color or all another. THANK YOU MICRO$OFT FOR ANOTHER USER-FRIENDLY PROGRAM.

  • What anime is different from its manga counterpart?

I'm talking about rather major changes.

For instance: Bleach has its filler arcs, but remains faithful to the manga all the same.

However, Full Metal Alchemist split off completely and introduced new characters, ultimately ending long before the manga and in (likely) a completely different fashion.

If the anime just left information out of the manga, that's not worth mentioning (too many series do that). I'm looking more for new things appearing in the anime.

  • Where can I find Higurashi no Naku manga?

I was looking at Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Watanagashi and I hit a problem: although the manga was released in 2000, no chapters past 4 have made it online. Do they exist? Are they available online? I would really appreciate links to sources.

  • What new Magic the Gathering keyword would you make?

MtG has quite a few thematic abilities. They began with the basics, such as flying and first strike, and now release several new abilities every set, such as Wither or Hellbent. However, they haven't explored all the assets of Magic by a long shot. What types of abilities would you make? What conditions would you explore? Include the ability's name, a description of what it does/how it works, and an example card or two.

    Reflexes

A Reflexes ability is a powerful activated ability that has the additional requirement that the creature be the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls.

Use the format below to make things easy to read.

    Underhollow Banshee 2BB

    Creature--Spirit

Reflexes--If ~ is the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, you may pay BB. If you do, target player sacrifices a creature.

    2/2

    Goblin Boom Krew 2RR

    Artifact Creature--Goblin

Reflexes--If ~ is the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, you may sacrifice it. If you do, deal 5 damage to target creature.

    Morph--sacrifice a land.

    2/3

Of course flaming arrows are always a good idea!--Last words of Colonel Azieh.
