  • Are police reports public documents?

Are police reports public information or does the person requesting the report have to be involved in the incident in some way? How much info would I have to provide for the police to locate the specific report I am hoping to find? How would the report be filed so it could later be located by the department? By the name of the person involved, the date, they type of incident, the address, the officer involved? Could this differ by state?

  • Duties as Power Of Attorney?

My Dad owns a piece of vacant property. The town (small NH town) sent a letter addressed to him last November saying he has too many tires stored on the property. I have power of attorney (POA) for my Dad, though no town official has ever seen the paperwork. They are now suing for the tires to be removed. The court summons came addressed to me only. His nor his wife's names are on the paperwork. I do not live there, do not own the property nor am I accused of dumping the tires there. Can I have the charge dismissed at the court hearing since I do not own the property? Why and how could they charge me?

  • How can you tell if your return was accepted?

I filed online using turbo tax on 1/27. My credit card was charged on 1/30. According to the IRS website using the date I filed I should have received my refund by direct deposit yesterday. I did not receive the money in my account. I have read that the IRS is behind in sending out refunds. I went to the where's my refund link and it says they have no info. Is there a place to see if my refund was accepted?

  • 1997 VW Jetta temp guage?

I just bought this car with 152000 miles on it. It runs great but I noticed the temp gauge stays all the way on cold all of the time unless the car idles for over 5 minutes. Then it goes up to half. As soon as I start to drive it drops right back to cold within 1-2 minutes. The car blows plenty of heat inside. Should I be concerned? The radiator is full and the antifreeze is good for -32 degrees.

  • Training puppy to use puppy pads?

Any suggestions for training a puppy to use puppy pads rather than taking him outside to do his business? My puppy is pretty good about trying to use the pads but he stands with his front feet on the pad and his butt on the carpet. I have tried putting the pad in a box so he has to get in but then he stands outside of the box and pees on the carpet.

  • Training a puppy to stop nipping suggestions needed?

I have a 10 week old puppy. I know they need to chew but he tries to bite our feet as we walk around. He latches onto our pant legs and won't let go. He also jumps at and nips our 2 and 4 year old in the face. The kids won't be paying the pup any attention just playing with their toys on the floor or watching tv and he just goes for the face.

Any suggestions for stopping this behavior?

  • Oil furnace with a problem?

Oil furnace, hot water runs off of furnace. Furnace replaced last season. Thermostat replaced this season. Same problem with old and new. Set the thermostat to 66 degrees. Furnace comes on but temp in house keeps rising. Does not stop at 66 or even in the 70 range. Must flip the emergency switch to turn off the furnace to get the heat to stop. There is a heat control on one of the lines in the basement which we keep closed in the summer, hot water works fine when this valve is closed. Landlord acts like this is fine, furnace technically works. Any ideas as to what could be causing this is? I know it is the landlord's problem and she should get it fixed but still want to know what could be causing the problem.

  • My oil furnace does not seem to be working off the thermostat?

I have turned my heat on in my new rental house. The valve on the furnace needed to be opened to get heat so we opened it yesterday. Set the thermostat to 66 and it went up to 82 without turning off. The landlord tells me to flip the emergency switch off to stop the heat from coming on but then I don't have any hot water. She says keep the switch on till it gets to 74 degrees then turn it off til it gets down to 66 then back on. I CANNOT live all winter like this. Any ideas on what is wrong? I don't mind paying a minimal amount to fix it because she doesn't seem like she thinks she should.

  • How long to receive reissued stimulus payment?

My daughter's stimulus never arrived, she had to wait 1 month before they would reissue another check. She has called and they have agreed to reissue a new check does anyone know how long it actually takes to receive the reissued check? IRS worker told her it could take up to 2 months, just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if it really took 2 months?

  • Mobile home park rules?

A friend recently bought a mobile home in a park. She read the rules and agreed to them but it seems that the manager is taking things a bit more literally than her.

The rules say "no swimming pools". This is understandable but is it reasonable to expect this to include a 1 foot deep plastic wading pool?

The rule says "no fences". Is it reasonable to expect this to mean a small 1 foot high ornamental fence bordering a flower bed?

The rule says "no more than 4 occupants". Is it reasonable to expect that if you move in with 2 toddlers and get pregnant you will be kicked out of your home?

The rule says "no dogs". Is it reasonable to expect visitors not to visit with their dogs?

  • Is this deposit worth fighting for?

Lived in an apartment complex for one year, full filled the lease obligation, moved out, took pictures. About a month later I received a letter stating that my security deposit would not be returned because the apartment had to be repainted and the carpet had to be cleaned. I watched the maintenance team repaint and replace carpet in EVERY apartment that came empty during the year we lived there. We have a friend who worked for the maintenace department who would testify that this was the norm. This complex has well over 300 apartments, at least 50 became vacant while we lived there. They also listed that they needed to clean the stove, fridge and bathroom floor.

Would it be worth my time to take my pictures which I believe show that the apartment was clean and not damaged and go to small claims court? Or should i just write this $1000 off as a loss?

  • Not cleaning dog feces?

My daughter moved into an apartment building over the Winter. The neighbor living downstairs let her 2 dogs out the front door to poop and never cleaned it all Winter. Now that the snow has melted there is seriously a deep layer of feces covering the entire front lawn area. My question is this:

Does this pose any danger to my 2 and 4 year old Grandchildren? Hopefully they will not walk in it or eat it but how can you be sure with toddlers. I am expecting that it will attract bugs once it gets warm which could be another problem?

  • Direct deposit and fees?

I was agreeing with others who said that if you had your income tax refund direct deposited but had your preparer take fees out of it then you will not get your rebate direct deposited BECAUSE the IRS will not have your bank account info

    BUT

I DID put my bank account info on my 1040 form when I filed online so why wouldn't the IRS have that info and be able to use it now?

  • When can I check the status of my rebate?

Someone posted this link and I tried it but it does not give me any info. Do I have to wait until after the date that it says my rebate will be sent to check? I was just wondering if my check would be direct deposited or mailed since I had my fees taken out of my refund and used Turbo tax. I know the answer given by most people answering here is that my rebate will be mailed.

Go to www.irs.gov. Click Where is my Refund? Then click Status of my Stimulus Rebate.

  • Change of address IRS?

I just realized that my rebate check may be mailed instead of being direct deposited since I had my turbo tax payment taken out of my check. I have since moved. My SS# ends in 88. If I mail the IRS change of address form now what will happen to my check? Will it be better to wait and have it mailed to my old address? Will it be forwarded or returned to the IRS? Will it take longer to get my check if I file the change of address now?
