  • My son has epilepsy. Been on keppra for 4 years and he is starting to become angry. He is never angry.?

Is it possible to develop side effects mood swings after being in a medication so long? We are talking raging angry.

He is the nicest little adult on the planet. This is very out of character for him and it's happened a few times already.

  • Posting this again since someone might have missed it.?

I know this is one for the Neurologist but I live in BC and it will take months to get another appt.?

My son has Epilepsy Grand Mals and Myoclonic jerks. He has JME (which for the curious, means A form of epilepsy that occurs in teenagers and involves sudden muscle jerking and seizures which is especially common on awakening). My sister, coincidentally was diagnosed with MS a year later (she is six and a half years older than I, although I don't think that matters).

About five weeks ago, my son (who is almost 21) started complaining about numbess and tingling down the left side of his body when he tilts his head just a litte; It is constant and doesn't go away. At first, he thought it might just be a pinched nerve because he stopped sleeping on the couch and actually moved to a bed but it was again 5 weeks ago and it just hasn't gone away.

He also has had tremors in his hands for quite a few years but ignores it because it only affects him when he is holding his hands out.

I don't live with him right now and can't actually drag him by the ear to the doctor but it is possible that this is only coincidence.

Does anybody have any educated opinions? Keep in mind he has had Epilepsy for nine years now so this isn't our first go around.

*** Just to be clear, I am concerned about the possiblity of M.S. and wondering about the likelyhood that he could even have both and is it genetic.. etc, etc. I am trying to no be a paranoid Mom but I guess it doesn't matter how old your kids get, you still worry.

    Thank you.

  • Just out of curiosity, how many people are outraged over the new Gain commercial?

Apparently it has become important to dumb down the English language even more by using the non-existant word "Gooder".

Just a quick show of hands of people who are embarassed by this.

  • Dilantin IV drip and swelling.?

My son had a Dilantin IV drip last Thursday and he kept telling the nurse that it was almost unbearable pain - he almost passed out and he is 19 and a fairly tough kid. It is now almost a week later and his arm is still swollen and he can lift anything or even straighten out his arm without it hurting.

Just wondering if this is normal or should he go back to the doctor.

  • you have to be to cross into How old do you have to be to cross from Canada into the U.S. by yourself?

My daughter is 17 and has a valid passport. She would like to come and visit me here in New York. Can she take a shuttle with a notarized letter from her father (and myself) all by herself. She would be catching a shuttle in Vancouver to take her directly to the Seattle airport. Or, possibly taking a train from Vancouver to Syracuse and flying back. I can't find this information anywhere.

  • Health pro's only please. No guesses 'coz I have those. A small but serious burn?

No medical so I can't go to hospital so please don't suggest that one.

I have a burn. It has turn the skin that is burned white and when I say white, I mean mozzarella cheese white. ( I assume that is dead flesh) and I suppose if it was maggot season, I could probably resolve the issue the old but disgusting way.

The wound is almost three weeks old. Since the wound, I have learned that no antiseptic should be used but I only used antiseptic once anyway. It has been wrapped in gauze and the pads have been removed and re-applied every day.

It is itchy (which to me is a good sign and there is red surrounding the wound but no green or white, which would give the sign of infection although the skin is much darker around it (eg...dark brownish red, bright red around the rim of wound and then wound - no green). The wound is about two inches in diameter.

In the last few days, it has started to bleed in tiny amounts. I imagine if my vessels are bleeding, that means the wound is healing???. I understand that the proper procedure would be to see a physician and have him cut out the dead part but..........since that isn't going to happen, would you say the small (very small albeit fresh) bleeding is a good sign?

Is there anything else you can suggest?

  • Can I Put a Spinet piano on it's side to get it through a doorway?

The easiest way for me to move this piano is to bring it through the kitchen - only three steps however there is an awkward area between the kitchen and the dining room where it just won't go through unless it is turned on it's side. Can I do this or will this wreck the piano somehow.

  • Did you love or hate the new Star Trek?

Normally, I am a mitch (substitute "m" for "b") about these things and wouldn't like the new one but I actually did like it. I think it kept the same spirit and it isn't like Star Trek hasn't been known to do a little time future altering move before. I wasn't too thrilled about the Spock Uhura love interest due to Spock's seven year nature but hey, everything else was good.

    What do you think?

  • Who thinks Winona Ryder did not belong in the new Star Trek Movie?

I left my prejudices at home and took the movie for what it was and it was damn good. The only two things I had an issue with was the love interest with Spock and Uhura and of course Winona Ryder.

  • I am looking for a few people who are participating in Lent to be accountability partners.?

I personally have decided that I will not consume a single alcoholic beverage during Lent. I am positive that things will come up that will make this commitment difficult (friends, work related meetings, a hard day and the desire to have a cold beer etc.....) I would like to have someone to be accountability partners with.

    Interested?

  • I am 35 and still have gut wrenching menstrual cramps.?

I thought this went away after you had children and got older and stuff.

I know I am not the only one but my life stops for two days unless I am continually popping over the counter analgesics such as Motrin or Advil, and that only helps a little.

How did you explain this to your job and friends?

  • is anyone moving furniture to either T.O. Ottawa or Niagra Falls from Vancouver.?

My son has a bunch of boxes, one electric piano and one big screen. This will not take up too much room but it isn't worth us renting a whole truck for it.

If you are planning a move in the next couple of weeks, let me know and maybe we can work something out
