  • What can I do to lower my blood pressure quickly?

I have a medical test in 8 days and I need to pass this but last time my blood pressure was right up into the red zone.

There may have been some factors that went against me, I had very little sleep the night before and i had been drinking heavily and my stress level was off the charts.

I plan to go without booze and bacon and salty snacks this week and get some quality sleep which should make a difference, but is there anything else I can do to get me down to the 'normal' level so the doc can give me a medical clearance, other than the high blood pressure everything else works OK.

  • Do we really need both Uranus AND Neptune?

Why not nudge them together and make just one really big gas giant called Nepanus or Uratune.

They are practically identical and serve no useful purpose, we could even crash them into Jupiter, the result would be a bigger brighter Jupiter but it would at least clear some extra space and make the solar system a lot simpler to understand. Agree?

  • How do I cook oysters....?

I am making a seafood soup with chili and garlic, I usually add prawns, scallops and mussels.

This time I would like to substitute oysters for the mussels.

Would you say the cooking time for oysters is the same as for any other seafood?

What happens if oysters are overcooked?

  • Do you ever get lost when you're driving round?

How to deal with that? I think they have some modern gadgets to stop that, but that stuff is hard to know and I think not everybody can doing that? I heard there are people who got lost back in the 1980s who are still driving round looking for their house? If they forgot where they live then how to getting home?

  • How does detention work in schools?

I went to school in the 1980s, never heard of anybody getting detention, only ever seen it on TV and movies.

If the students have to stay back doesn't that mean the teachers have to stay back to supervise? Since teachers are usually just regular people with lives outside of school wouldn't they be just as eager to get home as the students? I don't think they could be getting paid overtime for staying back to supervise detention?

Even if they were doing school work like grading papers wouldn't they rather be doing that in their own time at home?

  • What would it take to brink back the megafauna?

Millions of years ago animals were HUUUUUGE!!!

Not just the dinosaurs, everything was much bigger in those days.

Big cows, big sharks, big birds, giant spiders and mosquitoes, biggest elephants, massive cats and rats.

That would be so cool if we could bring those animals back, what would need to do to tweak the environment to produce 6 foot tall rabbits for example? Just one rabbit could feed a whole village for a week. Imagine a mega-chicken giving enough meat and eggs to produce 2000 pizzas and omelettes. How can we get moving on this?

  • Fish as a filling in Mexican food - yes or no?

Does fish (or any kind of seafood) have a place in Mexican food? Or is that a big no-no?

    Consider these options....

    Fish taco

    Fish burrito

    Fish quesadilla

    Fish nachos

Will that be OK or should the fish be sent back where it belongs with the chips?

  • What kind of cool and interesting stuff can be found in the space between galaxies?

I know its pretty much empty out there but surely there must be something of interest?

  • When is the next galactic eclipse?

Solar and lunar eclipses have become boring and humdrum, they are as common as a loaf of bread nowadays.

I think its time to raise the stakes a couple of notches and have a galactic eclipse to give life some meaning again. When and where is the best place to view it? Do I need to wear 3D glasses to see it?

  • Can we put safety stickers on the moon?

Safety stickers have saved my life many times.

But will they stick to the moon?

    For example...

    Danger rocky surface

    Craters ahead next 760km

Caution surface may be hot to touch

Safety equipment to be worn at all times

Smoking may reduce your life expectancy

No unaccompanied miners past this point

    Danger falling rocks

I would feel a whole lot safer if the stickers were in place, safety is a good thing , yes, anywhere in the universe?

  • Does the Earth and the planets have any effect on the sun?

If the Earth and planets were not there and the sun were surrounded by only empty space would there be any feedback at all on the sun, or would it just keep on going just the same?

  • Do I have to spit out the seeds of grapes?

OK well here is the situation - there are grapes which have seeds and those whom do not. If I am eat the ones with seeds do I have to spitting those seeds out or OK to swallow? What could happen if I swallow the seeds? Could I choke, could I die, or worse? I read somewhere that the seeds do not get digested and stay in the stomach or colon for the rest of your life and afterlife?

  • Whatever happened to carob buds?

Remember carob buds? Back in the 1980s they were very popular as a caffeine free chocolate substitute. I used to buy a big bag of delicious carob buds at the health food store and eat it at the cinema for a fraction of the price it would cost for a couple of chocolate bars at the snack bar. But they seem to have all but disappeared from shelves nowadays, I found some on eBay but of course the postage costs make them way too expensive. People used to say they were healthier than chocolate which is probably just a myth but I'm surprised they are not popular in the 21st century, is anybody with me or am I alone with this?

  • How long can a car battery last?

The battery in my 2004 Peugeot 206 recently died and was replaced. The previous owners seem to have kept literally every receipt for every little thing but I cant find any indication the battery was ever changed. Is it possible the original battery lasted 14 years?

  • What would be the result of splitting just one single atom?

An atomic xplosion is the result of a chain reaction of millions of atome OK but what if it could be controlled to just one single atom? Would it result in a very very very small atomic bomb just powerful enough to blow out a candle, or would there be no noticeable result at all?

  • If I got lost on the moon whats the best way to find home?

If I was on Earth you can use the sun to find directions, or you can follow a river downstream, or some people say you can get directions from looking at trees and plants or birds or which way the clouds are pointing, but none of that will work on the moon. If I got lost and had no tech gadgets to get home what can I do, cause its scary out there.

  • Why does age improve alcohol?

The bottles are labelled 5 year old, 10 year old, 15 year old, etc.

What is happening there is it the sugar in the alcohol that improves with age or what? Why does juice or pepsi not improve with age as that stuff has loads of sugar?

And is there a limit, is 100 year old whiskey twice as good as 50 year old or does it reach a limit that can go no further?

  • Why do peoples still climb up Mount Everest, there are easier ways?

Why with all our whizz-bang technology we have to use a 1950s method to get to the top?

There should a network of tunnels dug under the mountain and an elevator shaft going right up the middle to a luxury resort on the summit, complete with restaurants, amusement parks, golf courses, rollercoaster, water slides, casino, international airport etc.

I think its disgusting that the people who should be out there building it are sitting around twiddling their thumbs and playing video games, that thing is not going to build itself. If they hollow out the centre they can turn it into a luxury apartment complex big enough for 1000s of people, the building materials are already there so the cost will be negligible.

Why is it taking so darn long, we are a fifth of the way thru the 21st century, lets get moving OK?

  • What if the Egyptians had decided to build the pyramids higher?

Hypothetically what if any extra engineering challenges would they have faced? Is there a maximum height beyond which the weight will cause it to fall down? A mountain does not fall down so a pyramid should follow the same logic, right?

What if the pharaoh had decided the Great pyramids height of 150 metres was not big enough and it should be 10 times higher? Assuming that labour and materials are not a problem and they have 1000 years to build the darn thing, could they just continue stacking stones up to 1500 metres height?
