iPhone - Manually manage music, new computer?
So, I just got a new computer, installed the latest version of iTunes, plug in my iPhone and want to manually add a couple of songs.
In order to do that, I have to select the "manually manage music and videos" option in iTunes, otherwise, I can't drag and drop songs into my iPhone.
However, in order to do that, iTunes seems to REQUIRE me to wipe all current songs on my iPhone before I can enable the option to manually manage music.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks.
3 AnswersMusic & Music Players8 years agoWindows 7 Keeps Switching from Active Window?
Hello,
I have a new computer (few days old), running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Practically no bloatware, as far as I can see.
My problem is that it has a tendency to 'switch' from the active window after a few seconds - e.g. I have a browser open, and am reading a long document, then suddenly I'm unable to scroll down anymore because the browser window is no longer 'active'. So I have to click on it again in order to be able to scroll down.
I tried a test by opening a folder - at first, it works like normal i.e. I can use the arrow keys to select (highlight) various files within the folder. Left it for a few seconds, then tried hitting the arrow keys again, and voila - I can no longer select anything since the window was no longer 'active'.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
2 AnswersSoftware8 years agoOpera Bookmarks Question (No Alphabetizing)?
I'm using the latest version of Opera on Windows. I'm just wondering if there is any way to allow Opera to NOT alphabetize my bookmarks?
I want it set-up similar to Firefox, where if I hit Ctrl-D to bookmark, it defaults the new bookmark at the BOTTOM of the bookmarks list.
Thanks.

If I have my Privacy settings set to exclude certain groups of people from viewing tagged photographs of myself - and they tag me, and comment on one of my photographs posted by /other/ people who are our mutual friends - what happens?
Are they then unable to view photo's that they tag of me (which have been uploaded by a mutual friend)?
Thank you.

1 AnswerQuotations1 decade agoSetting up a Wireless Network?
Just a quick question - I've set-up a wireless home network before:
My set-up was:
Modem > Wireless Router hooked up to a Desktop > then wireless via my laptop.
Now I want to set up a wireless network, without the desktop, so is all I need just the wireless router now?
i.e. I set up the router while wired to my laptop, unplug it, then just turn it on and I can pick up the signal from my laptop (which has a built-in wireless receiver?
Just a bit confused if I need extra hardware, since my router is no longer wired to a desktop..?
Thanks.
2 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoCredit Card Expiry Question?
I'm just wondering - what's the normal practice -
Say I have a credit card expiring on Feb 2009 - and I would still be carrying a balance on my card by that time - would banks normally ask you to settle the full amount, or do you just get a new card?
Thanks
7 AnswersCredit1 decade agoSpeaker Impedance?
Hello,
Just wondering if it is safe to hook up my Logitech X-230 speakers to a DAC/Amp that I had purchased.
The USB DAC/AMP that I bought was actually meant for headphones, and there is a warning saying not to use headphones with less than 30 ohm impedance on it.
I'm just wondering how that translates to speakers? The only info I could find on my speakers were the following, and I have no idea what it means.
Total RMS Power: 32 Watts
Subwoofer: 20 Watts RNS ibto 4 ohms at 100Hz at 10% THD (total harmonic distortion)
Sattelites: 12 RMS (2x6w) ubti 4 ohms at 1 KHz at 10$ THD.
It is the Logitech x-230, with 2 speakers and a sub. It has its own power cord hooked up to a power outlet. The DAC/Amp I have is the HotAudio USB1.
So would it be safe for me to hook it up to the DAC/Amp? How do I determine if the speakers have an impedance of 30ohms or more?
Thanks!
3 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade agoWireless RF Products with a wireless router?
Im wondering - I currently have a wireless router set up at my place, and the box says its 2.4GHZ.
Now, I am planning on buying a wireless RF keyboard that says its connecting on the "2.4GHZ ISM" radio band frequency.
Now is this going to affect my wireless net speed? Will it cause the connection to drop?
I need a wireless keyboard WITH a built in trackball or touchpad - and so far, the only ones I can find are RF ones, I havent found one with bluetooth yet.
Thanks!

1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade agoSuit Jacket or Blazer with Jeans?
Ok, I'm a small guy and need to get a jacket tailored for my body type. But I'm not sure what to ask for.
I want one of those that are worn with jeans. You know, movie stars wear them with jeans, and also some of the younger business people wear them too. Especially during the dotcom bubble, when all these 20 year old CEO's were partnering with 45 year old CEO guys in suits.
But which one is it? Suit jacket? Sport jacket? Blazer? What are those that are worn with jeans? I think they're blazers.. not sure though?
So if I'm looking for something "formal" to pair with jeans, what should I be looking for? I guess no double breasted stuff, what else? Any ideas?
Thanks!
2 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoSelling used DVDs? Legal?
I have questions about the legality of selling used DVDs on places like ebay.
1.) Some DVD's have a disclaimer saying that it is illegal to 'distribute' or 'sell' them without expressed written consent. Does that include ebay? Although I know thousands of people sell them on ebay, even legit brick and mortar stores like EB Games sell used DVDs.
2.) Also, some DVD's say they are only for exclusive sale in a certain country and it it illegal to 'export' them. Would it then be illegal to sell a "Canada exclusive" DVD to US ebayers for example?
I am located in Canada. And I am referring to store-bought DVD's. Not promotional copies or bootlegs.
Thank you!

I was looking at my shoes earlier - (I'm a Male) - and in the part for the U.S. equivalent size - one says 7.5W and the other one is an 8M.
Anyone know what the "W" and "M" mean?
6 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoMAC Filtering?
I have a DLink wireless G router (Model WBR-2310) that I use to hook up my laptop with the internet wirelessly. The router is also hardwired to my main desktop PC.
We will soon be getting a 2nd PC which we plan to hardwire to the router. But we want this PC to only have access to the LAN (ie, my son can play games vs my other son using the main PC and the new PC) BUT we don't want the new PC to have access to the web.
My router's settings gives me the option to turn MAC filtering ON and either:
1. Allow the computers listed access to the network.
2. Deny the computers listed access to the network.
Question: I'll be using option 2 and will be adding the new PC's MAC address to the router config. But will this still allow them to play LAN games? Or will it disallow access to the internet only but allow them to play games, which is what I want?
I don't seem to have the option that specifically says to disallow net access - or will the MAC filtering do that?
DLink WBR-2310
Thank you
4 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoIntel Notebook Processor Naming Scheme?
Would someone please help me understand Intel's naming scheme for it's notebook CPU's.
e.g. How does a Core 2 Duo T2050 differ from a T7400? How will I tell which is a more batter efficient processor vs a faster one?
I know that for the AMD Turion 64 X2, they use model names such as TL-50 - where the first letter denotes single or dual core, the second letter is for comparing power efficiency while the number is pretty much for comparing processor power. So for example, assuming everything else equal -- an MT-34 would be more battery efficient than an ML-36, but the latter would be a 'faster' CPU. I am wondering if Intel has the same naming scheme?
PS. I am only concerned about "model names" with in specific processor families - NOT the differences between Core 2, Core Duo, Core Solo, Celeron etc..
Thank you.

4 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoCanada Tax?
I had my taxes done by H&R block - and since basically, I am a contract worker with an employment agency, but the way it works is that I am technically self-employed and are billing them for hours. So they only took off CPP and EI and not taxes on my paycheques.
So I get a T4 slip and a business expenses form. When I had my taxes done, H&R block says I am eligible to make installment payments, June, Sept 2007 and March next year. Since I went over $2500 in tax.
Does anyone know if the tax installment thing applies to "self-employed" guys like me? Or do I have to pay by April 30th?..??? Yikes!

3 AnswersInternet1 decade agoPaypal and Ebay?
I have just signed up with Paypal and have hooked up my credit card as my primary account.
I am currently showing as unverified in Paypal. And it seems to get verified I have to provide them with my bank account numbers too and let them do their thing to verify it. But I don't really want to :D
Anyway, my question is, can I still purchase items on Ebay with no problems? (Items that are less than $1K to be more specific)
Many thanks.
