  • Facebook - how to stop my likes from being seen by my contacts friends?

I upoaded a picture of my child for my 40 facebook friends (I keep it close people only). Then when some of those 40 people "like" my photo, it then shows up on their friends timelines. I cannot seem to find a privacy setting to change this. I already have everything I can access set to "friends only".

    Help?

  • Can Canadian police/RCMP search my backpack in a public space?

At the beach, my friends and I were up in the bushes a little bit and a cop came up to us and said, "open your backpacks".

    - Is this legal in Canada? Can I just say, "I do not give you permission to search my belongings"?

    - I assume a cooler would work the same as a backpack or purse?

    - Does this differ province to province, or between RCMP and provincial/city police?

    - Would parks Canada staff have any different rules governing them?

I think you get the point, while I'm at the beach with some friends it's nice to have a beer, or glass of wine. We are all 30+, not drinking heavily at all, and always out of public view.

Please no American responses, Canadian law is much different.

    Thanks!

  • My front driver side wheel sqeaks when I drive slow.?

It started when I was driving slow, now it seems to be doing it when I apply the breaks lightly (does not do it if I push them hard). I thought it was the pads, but it also seems to happen when I accelerate slowly, and even when I am just slowly moving with a bit of turn.

Really hoping I can just grease something and not have to do major work, suggestions?

  • Is there a hippy area in calgary?

I am moving to Calgary and keep hearing about how different it is to other cities. What I am looking for is the hippy/bohemian type area of the city to look for apartments.

Similar to, in Winnipeg; Osborne Village

    in Saskatoon; Broadway area

    in Vancouver; Commercial drive

I have heard about a party/bar area, but not a real bohemian area.

    Any tips?

  • What does, "no soy gringo" mean?

I read this on a shirt the other day in central america (nicaragua). I was thinking it was a satirical take on the stereotype of white people putting soy sauce on asian food, but then was second guessing that maybe it is a spanish saying, or part of one?

    Any thoughts?

  • Canadian and German citizen looking to work in the UK; visa's and job prospects?

I am canadian, I can apply for the UK equivalent of working holiday maker as long as the 5,000/year issued to canada aren't used up. My friend is a German citizen, but has canadian permanent residency, how would this work?

Next, is it difficult to find work? We are both currently working in the resort industry, (groups coordinator and executive housekeeper) and would prefer to find "decent" jobs, as in, PREFER not be to washing dishes for a year.

Lastly, what are some websites or best means of finding said work? Would it be best to go there and apply in person, or start sending resume's early?

    Thanks

  • What are the effects of elevation changes?

I live on a mountain and drive into town daily. The elevation at my house is 1700m and in town it is 300m.

I am finding that my ears are popping alot (just sitting around),I have been getting more frequent headaches, and not sure if it's related, but have been developing an itchy rash on the inside of my arms!

Are some or all of these symptoms associated with elevation changes? Is it healthy to be doing this change daily?

  • Can I boil chicken for chicken noodle soup?

I have some frozen chicken thighs that I want in my noodle soup (just a pre mixed package of chicken noodle soup). Should I fry the chicken, remove from bone, and add to cooked soup? Can I just boil the thighs for awhile then add the soup mix?

I have never cooked chicken in my life.

What is the best way to go about this?

  • Can I use my Saskatchewan driver licence in Taiwan?

I am heading to taiwan and need to drive. From what I have read, they have a reciprocity agreement with quebec and possibly bc, so those driver licences are fine, but not sask? I also understand that an international licence will not work anyway.

    What do I do?

If you can find the answer, 10 points!

  • is a hostel a good business?

I am looking at opening a hostel in a city somewhere in canada. I know Calgary only has one, and that there are a few for sale in BC...seems to me that if you work it yourself, and especially if you bought one that was already established (has current zoning, beds, payment systems, advertising, etc), and worked it yourself......it would make money.

  • Am I eligible for unemployment (EI), in Canada, in this instance?

I had a job all year from end of january untill october. I quit this job to travel for 2 months, then came back, and got another job, from which I was laid off after only 80 hours!

I would have enough insurable hours, the question is, because i quit that first job, does that disqualify me?

Also, I only worked the second job for 80 hours, would that have any bearing?

  • Idea's for New Years eve in Winnipeg/in general?

My gf and I don't know what to do! We are mid 20's, living in Winnipeg, mb, canada, and don't really have many friends that go out/are available. We know there are things going on at clubs, but no clubs here have websites, and don't know what or where, and reallly, the thought of going to a club just the two of us is fine, but not great.

Does anyone have any unique ideas? We considered sitting in with booze and food, and have attempted to find a cabin for rent (why noone has websites is beyond me)....

I think things are happening at the mts center? burton cummings theatre?

    Any thoughts appreciated

  • In sports betting, what is a labby line?

I keep reading about this, I understand it is a type of chase system, somehow similar to the martingale system. Anyone know about this? Google tells me nothing.

I have been using martingale with some success, the problem is, a 5 or 6 game losing streak, and your bankroll is out the window.

    Labby?

    Thanks

  • No response from canada immigration regarding common law application, what do we do?

We sent in our common law application for permanent residency, and received verification from canada post that it was received. They say the maximum to hear back that they have started processing is 52 days at the latest, it has not been 72 days! We call numbers to get ahold of people and it takes us in loops....what can we do?

Canada immi definately received our app (according to can post), yet they are 3 weeks beyond their maximum to send us a letter informing us that they have started, and we can't get ahold of anyone!

  • How can I stop a stone chip in windshield from spreading?

A stone hit my windshield a few days ago, it is actually rather large (1 inch x 1 inch), with a few small half circles of crack around it. I know it will need to be repaired properly someday, but I just don't have the cash right now. Is there something I can do just stop it from spreading? Or even something I could do as a half fix?

I heard rumors of glass fillers and stuff.

fyi - it is not in my line of sight, at all. Also, my insurance does not cover it, at all.

  • If my car is overheating, should the over flow reservoir not fill up?

I have a new water pump, coolant level is good in the reservoir, yet my car keeps running hot. If I keep the heat on, it runs at a warm, but tolerable level. However, if it is running hot, should it not push coolant back into the reservoir? I squeezed the upper rad hose, and it moved the level under the rad cap, and in the reservoir, so I don't think it is blocked......

Also, when I start driving, it gets warm, then the water pump kicks in, and it goes to a good level, then slowly heats back up to overheating, but never "kicks" back down again. Could my thermostat just be sticking?

Thank you very much for any thoughts.
