  • My tablet kindle suddenly wants a password but I don't have wi-fi?

I use my tablet mainly for reading, as I don't have wi-fi. I went to my parents to download an app, and now at home I want to read and it asks for a password! There are no books, just a button "Start reading", and when I press it, it says to check my connection.

What do I do? I use it on the road to, and I have only one computer with a modem, so installing wi-fi in my house is not really an option.

  • How does this thermometer work?

i have this kid bathtub that had a thermometer inside, it's not digital or electric, it's round. my kid was playing with it and took it apart (so my husband tells me, i wasn't around). so today i took a look at it to check it out, and to see if there was any mercury, since i was worried about it, but there didn't seem to be any? or anywhere to keep it anyway. there is just a round space with a paper with the degrees (that i threw out) and in the middle a little black thing where the hand was that indicated the degree.

i am still a bit worried, should i be? we keep the tub in the regular bathtub so it gets washed out all the time.

but i'm also wondering how it works otherwise. i have no clue if it was accurate, i never paid attention to it, although the hand would move around.

  • I need some help with a mathematical equation?

If I have a plot of land that is 1372 square meters, and 947/2744 parts out of that belong to someone else, how do I figure out how much that is?

I was thinking of diving it, so: 947/2744= 0.345116618.

    1372*0.345116618= 473.49 square meter.

Is that right? I have no way to check it.

BTW this is not homework, it's for a client.

  • What sauce goes good with smoked salmon?

I want to try a type of bureka (filled puffed pastry) with smoked salmon. in the past i used ketchup/cheese, ketchup/salami or mustard/salami as filling. i had a brainstorm to try smoked salmon. what sauce would be good with that? ketchup or mustard don;t sound so good. i am open to recipes although nothing containing meat products, and preferably nothing containing milk products either, because i eat kosher. thank you!

  • Question about watch batteries?

I found 2 old watches in a drawer that don't work anymore, I know one of them still worked about 6 years ago, the other i don't know, probably it died before then. Is there a change that they might have leaked? And if so, does it stay in the watch or does it get out? Could it have leaked onto my other things? The backs of the watches look pretty clean, a bit dusty and dirty around the seams.

  • Question about my husband's social security number? (details)?

My husband was born in the US and came to Israel before he was a year old. His mother is American and his father is English. Now he is trying to get citizenship for him and our son (I'm Dutch, so I'm out). We always thought that they get a passport and go to the US for a visit and then they'll be citizens.

But now he needs a social security number, and in order to get one he has to pay $100 and wait 6 months... Doesn't that seem a bit weird? I thought social security numbers are a bit like Israeli ID numbers, you get one when you are born or when you immigrate, and that's it.

Can someone please explain? We have his birth-certificate, He was born in NY.

  • Did anyone ever have this at 11 weeks?

I am 11 weeks pregnant today and I am showing a lot! i was a bit overweight to begin with (70 kilos which is too much for me) and the place where i gain is around my bellybutton. so it was already sticking out, but now i feel it's getting really huge! i look past 3 months i think. my doctor says it's just fat (i gained 1 kilo lately) but my mom thinks it's baby-fat, because my face looks normal (i also gain a bit there). did anyone ever show at 11 weeks? i'm not actively trying to hide it but because it's still in the first trimester i am not ready to tell people...

In the old Paint program you had that the eraser tool would erase everything, but if you pressed the right-click button on the mouse only the selected color would get erased.

  • is inhaling baby oil the same as breathing it in?

i put some baby oil on my dry hands, very thin layer. then i looked online and saw that it is really dangerous to swallow and inhale, so i washed it off with soap and wiped off my keyboard and mouse. so i probably didn't swallow any, but maybe i breathed it in? is that the same as inhaling or do you need to really hang your nose over it for that? sorry if i sound a bit weird but i am just paranoid about these things...

  • What do the letters mean in Swedish cities (details)?

I have a family tree that is mostly Swedish people and after each place names it says (AB), (Y), or (Z). Maybe others too. For Family Tree Maker you need the part or province of the country also, and sometimes there are a few choices. How do I find out what the letters in parentheses mean?

  • is dried battery acid dangerous? more info in details?

found a battery at work today, it had a bit of brown stuff at one end, not the white stuff. it seemed dry. i didn't touch it, but my co-worker touched it and nothing happened to her. i told her to wash her hands and she did but not thoroughly. the problem is that i am completely paranoid with these things, especially poisons and batteries. i am worried maybe some of it got off onto the pens, keyboard etc... and i'll be afraid to eat and drink there.

is it dangerous or poisonous? it was a AAA alkaline battery.
