  • Made for TV movie about a town with a child molester?

I think it was made sometime in the 80s or 90s. I believe in took place maybe about 50 or so years ago in the south. There were girls who were getting molested by an important figure in the town. The focus of the story was on one girl in particular who was known for making trouble and tall tales. She was one of the victims of the molester but was afraid to speak up because she knew she would not be believed. She was also friends with a black man. When the black man was accused of messing with the town's girls, the girl had to be persuaded to speak up and when she finally did, at first she was not believed until another girl backed her up, and then more girls confirmed her story to be true, which freed the black man.

    Anyone familiar with this story?

  • Russian songs during the 1980s?

During the 1980s, many popular songs were made in America and Western Europe about the Soviet Union, the cold war, and concerns with the possibility of a WWIII.

I am interested to know what kinds of popular songs were made in Russia concerning their take on the subject.

Links to YouTube vids with subtitles would be helpful.

  • Hard Rock music video around 1979-80?

It's the first music video I ever saw and I can't remember what it was. I believe the band was KISS. The only bits that I remember is a man and his son sitting in his living room and watching the band playing on TV, meanwhile appliances in his house were self-destructing.

Are there any early hard rock-buffs that can help me identify this?

  • There's a British term I'm not familiar with?

I'm reading a book written in England from the early 60s. The main character is said to won some money by "playing the pool." I'm guessing this is some form of betting but what is the game? Billiards?

  • Teen movie late 70s to mid 80s?

I have vague memories of a film.

Mainly teen boys who got in fights and trouble. There are two scenes that I remember.

    One was:

One mother met her son on the street and asked him to come home with her. She had just bought ice cream. He didn't want to go with her. She coaxed him a bit so he grudgingly started walking with her. She started chatting happily to him. Then he turned around and quickly walked the other way. She called after him but he ignored her. She walked home alone, the ice cream melting from the box.

    The other scene:

A building was on fire and children were trapped inside. One of the teen went in to rescue them. He got badly burned.

Later, he was at the hospital and one of his friends came to see him. The burned teen died while the friend was there. The friend, who was distraught, ran out and caused a disturbance at a store. He was either arrested or shot.

Those scenes may have come from two different movies but I remember them being from the same movie. I was pretty young when I saw it on TV.

Can anyone help me identify it please?

  • Please help me understand...?

Lately, I hear a lot of "That's what she said," with the result of rolls of laughter.

Put bluntly, I don't get it.

Is it a running gag? Did it come from a show on TV? (I don't have a tv) Is it a sexual joke?

Can someone explain why "That's what she said" is funny?

  • Pronunciation of techno band?

How is the name of the techno band, Gigi D'Agostino pronounced? The "Gigi" part I can figure out, but it's the other part that I'm not sure of.

I know this question belongs more in the "Words and Wordplay" section, but I figured I would get more accurate answers from techno fans who would know better.

  • What happens to candle wax?

When a candle burns down, where does the wax go? There's no ash and no smoke. Just an empty wick holder and candle tray. Does wax become a gas when it's burnt up?

  • Bearded Dragon Gender?

I have a bearded dragon a little more than a year old. The pet store that we got it from a year ago told us that the lizard was too little yet to determine its sex.

Now that Clyde is plenty grown, I don't know what characteristics to look for to determine his/her gender.

    Can someone help?

  • Bearded dragon claws?

I have a one year old bearded dragon. Do such lizards need their nails trimmed? His claws seem long but I don't know how long is too long or if they should be left the heck alone.

Also, IF they do need to be trimmed from time to time, how do I recognize where the quick is? I am very familiar with cats and trim their claws regularly, but I know nothing about the tiny, black claws on a bearded dragon.

What is the difference between "center" and "centre?" I see centre in literature books. Does it mean exactly the same as center or are there some subtle differences?

  • Yahoo! Answers Suggestion Board?

Where did it go? I used to be able to click on the word "Forum" at the top corner of the Y!A page and get the suggestion board, but "Forum" isn't there any more.

Is there another way to get to the suggestion board now or did Yahoo! get rid of it altogether?

  • David Bowie's Christian Roots?

Although David Bowie isn't known for faithfully practicing any organized religion, I know he has some basic Christian beliefs and comes from a family with Christian views.

Does anyone know which denomination of Christianity he comes from? I think it might by Anglican. A friend of mine suggested Lutheran. We may be both wrong but I don't know.

  • B movie from the 70s

    Anyone familiar with this film?

A black car terrorizes a town by running people over. Turns out the devil is driving. Bullets and fences can't stop it but it cannot drive on sacred grounds. The people end up destroying it by blowing it up and you can hear the devil scream in the fireball.

Can anyone tell me the name of this film?

  • Online site of masks for kids to color?

Can anyone give me a web site that has outlines of fancy masks (like Mardi Gras) that kids can print, cut out and decorate?

I need it outlined in black and white, like you would see in a coloring book.

    Thanks.

  • Fake greens in Sushi?

Why are there plastic bits of fake lettuce (or parsley, or grass. anyone's guess) in containers of sushi? What are they supposed to accomplish? Would these sushi-makers go under if they splurged a little and added a real leaf of something?

  • Gayness caused by sexual trauma?

I know the title is untrue, but I want to show the results to a friend of mine.

She believes that homosexuals, bisexuals, cross-dressers, transgenders, and all who are not 100% straight are simply people who have been sexually traumatized in their past and their sexuality has been confused as a result.

What I am asking here is for a response from those who are not 100% straight and who have NOT experienced sexual trauma ever or before they have discovered their sexuality.

I have been molested as a child before discovering I was bisexual, so I can't come up with a good argument on my own. Please write me some good testimony to back me up.

  • Techno/disco song played in 2001?

Help. Love a song but have no idea what it's called or who sings it.

Lead singer sounds like a black singer with a deep voice. He mumbles and I can't understand anything he says except for what sounds like "Starlight." Backup singers (ladies) mumble too but they do say "What you need." There's also a pause in the song so you could only hear the electric percussion.

This was played on radio stations that played techno music in 2001 but had a definite disco beat.

If you have ANY idea what this is, give me the song and artist name please!
