Why can Charles be king of England when his great uncle couldn't?
Elizabeth's uncle had to give up the throne of England to marry a divorcee, yet Charles is still considered heir in spite of being divorced himself and marrying a divorcee. Has the Church of England changed its rules?
12 AnswersRoyalty1 decade agoHow to get internet connection to go back to secure?
We disconnected our Hughes satellite connection while we traveled for a month or so. When we reconnected, it said the site was not secure. It has always been secure, requiring a passcode, etc. We've tried everything we can think of. Do you have any suggestions?
2 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoIf a parent takes his children past safety barriers to watch a hurricane, should he be prosecuted?
I just heard about the child killed by the hurricane in spite of barriers prohibiting people from viewing from the area where her family was. If a child drowns in a bathtub after being left alone, the parent is prosecuted for neglect. I think this action is much more egregious. What do you think?
24 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhy is health care considered a for-profit enterprise?
As insurance companies push their profit margin to 20% ( that means the money we pay for premiums is going to share holders instead of to our health care providers) premiums go up while coverage goes down. Less than 15 years ago, the profit margins for insurance companies was less than 5%, now it's close to 20%,
Health care should not produce a profit any more than police or fire departments. It is a necessary service that no one not involved in the actual delivery of care should profit from.
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhich is worse for pollution, batteries or gas for cars?
With all the hype for hybrid and electric cars, both of which use huge batteries, I wonder if anyone has examined the relative pollution. Batteries are very pollutive during both manufacturing and disposal, so are we just trading soil and water pollution for the air pollution associated with gas engines. Also, the batteries for hybrid cars are so expensive, that by the time you need a new one it will be cheaper to just trash the whole car, adding to the pile of junk cars.
6 AnswersAlternative Fuel Vehicles1 decade agoWhy has no one mentioned McCain's very un-family-values background?
His first wife was seriously injured in a car wreck so she was no longer attactive, so he started sleeping around when he got back from POW camp. Was sleeping with Cindy while still married to Carol. Why have his opponents been so reluctant to sling that mud? Of course, most of his foes in the nomination run had similar backrounds. So much for the holier-than-thou Republicans.
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhat does FBR mean in the FBR Open golf tournament in Phoenix?
This week the PGA tour is coming to Scottsdale, AZ to the TPC (whatever that is) for what used to be called the Phoenix Open. All the news stories just use the letters, with no explanation of what they stand for.
2 AnswersGolf1 decade agoWhy have Real ID instead of driver's license when Social Security cards are just paper?
Under the federal plan, the states will have the responsibility and the Cost of issuing the real ID, but the Social Security Admin still issues the easily-forged cards that are necessary for most employment and financial transactions. This seems backward to me. If the feds want security, they should clean their own house first.
Many states already have holographic drivers licenses that are far more secure than the SS cards.

4 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhich produces more oxygen per year: broadleaf or conifer trees?
To increase oxygen production, should we plant deciduous trees or evergreens? The broadleaf seems to have more surface, but their active life is short. We live in the Rockies at 7800 feet.
1 AnswerBotany1 decade agoWhy does the US grant China "most favored nation" status while continuing to impose a trade embargo on Cuba?
The original reason for the embargo against Cuba was its communist government, but that applies even more to China. The whole thing is ludicrous.
4 AnswersGovernment1 decade agowhat country has the best health care system?
That includes availability, technology, affordability, speed of service, survival rate for various diseases and disorders, error rate, overall life expectancy and general health, etc.

2 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoSleep Apnea: is it common to have mood swings AFTER treatment?
My son-in-law recently began treatment for sleep apnea. He's 38 and has suffered from it his entire adult life, apparently. Now that he's getting proper sleep, he has started being verbally abusive. What's scarey is that he often can't remember saying things he has recently said! Is there any way to get him back to normal? Is his brain having trouble making connections after all this time? We are concerned for our daughter and grandson.
4 AnswersRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoIs anyone else repulsed by the ads that accompany Yahoo news stories?
I have decided to quit looking at news stories from the Yahoo home page because of the horrid ads that are stuck into the corner of all of them. For a long time it was the two ugly faces, now it's someone's before and after rear end.
1 AnswerOther - Yahoo Products1 decade agoIs anyone else sick of the pop-up ads for skin products?
The ads keep showing these 30 yr old women with piles of makeup to make them look 75, then they peel off the fake wrinkles, revealing the 30 yr old face, complete with flattering lighting, and claim the miracle was achieved with their product. Come on! Does anyone believe that?
1 AnswerOther - Advertising & Marketing1 decade agoWhy does Medicare pay for scooters and not for medicine?
I think it's ludicrous that medicare will pay for a convenience, but not for life-saving drugs. The new Rx add-on is a joke created by the pharmaceutical industry.

4 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agobonding with adopted one year old child?
Our daughter and son-in-law have adopted a little boy from
Russia and are very concerned about him bonding with them. They have been advised not to let anyone else hold him for several months. That's pretty hard for a grandma to accept, but I've agreed to go along with whatever they say. What is your experience with adopting and bonding?
