  • 4runner front end shakes at high speed?

and both front tires show even, but slightly more wear on the inside edge than they do on the outside. Also, there seems to be a little play in the steering wheel?

The symptoms are not severe but are noticeable.

    It's a 4x4.

    Most likely suspect?

    Thanks

  • What matters more, age or miles?

My Jeep Grand Cherokee has given up the ghost and I need something to replace it for occasional towing and as a back up car. As it's something I'll use only a couple times a month, I don't want to get anything too expensive, so I'm looking at used SUV's

There's one '05 Ford explorer in like new condition I'm interested in, but it's got 185,000 miles on it, which is hard to believe as it looks like new. The owner took long trips regularly for work. There's another one for about the same price that's a 2000 model, but it's only got 108,000 miles on it. It's in good shape for it's age but looks a bit more worn than the newer car with 185k. Both seem to run well with no obvious issues.

So, for the same money, would you go for the '05 that looks like new but has 185k on it, or the '00 with less miles on it?

    Thanks!

  • Jeep grand cherokee.Could it be the ignition switch?

My 98 grand Cherokee has 3 symptoms that may or may not be related.

1- The interior lights don't go off.

2- The 'key in ignition' chime continues after removing the key until the driver door is closed

3- Even with the fuse for the interior lights removed the battery goes dead after a couple days. (This may be a bad battery, I had it tested and they said it was good but it's 5 years old)

Could the ignition switch be the cause of any of this?

    Thanks

  • 98 Jeep grand Cherokee electrical problem?

    Interior lights won't go off.

'Key in ignition' chime goes even after you remove the key if the drivers door is open. (Only the drivers door, none of the other doors cause it.)

I removed the fuse for the interior lights. "Key in ignition" chime still sounds until you close the door, but the lights are off.

Even with the fuse removed the battery still goes dead after a while if it sits.

    Ideas?

  • dry ice to kill ground squirrels?

I have a terrible ground squirrel problem. They're tearing up everything. I've fed them incredible amounts of the commercial squirrel bait for 2 months with little effect, tried live catch traps, conibear traps and rat traps with 0 success. (which was hard to believe, but they wouldn't go near any of them.) Tried shooting and after a day of effort I got 1 and maybe wounded another. They keep expanding. There are at least 100 holes now. It's bizarre, almost supernatural. I thought about the rodent blaster thing with flammable gas but there are trees and dry grass everywhere so the fire risk is just too high. I'm out of ideas.

The thought came to mind of putting dry ice down the holes to asphyxiate them with co2. I've found some suggestion of it on the net and it seems like it would work, but I haven't come across anyone who actually tried it.

Yes? No? Practical or realistic ideas anyone? I'm at my wits end, these things have caused thousands of $ in damage and they must be stopped.

  • Tundra as reliable as Tacoma and Corolla?

I've had incredible luck with 2 Tacomas and a Corolla. All have gone over 200k before their first problem. Now I'm looking at a Tundra. Are the Tundras as reliable?

  • Replacing motherboard, reload windows?

My motherboard is getting flakey, it starts crashing, I fiddle around removing cards & redo heat sinks and it works fine for a month or so then starts acting up again. Now it's not seeing one of my drives. I was going to replace it with a new one, but I'm concerned about windows 7.

Originally I bought the home version, then did the download upgrade to professional because I needed it for some of my programs. When I put in the new hardware and reinstall windows, how will I get the professional upgrade? Will that be handled automatically with the updates or ???

    Thanks

  • Is there an honestly good alternative to YouTube?

They're forcing everyone on to Google+, and now they're trying to force you to use your real name and put that name on all google things you do, which is frankly a hazard to both our privacy and security. I want to take my business elsewhere. Are there any other sites like YouTube used to be?

    Thanks is advance.

  • capital gains taxes, California?

    I can't seem to find tax tables for California 2013, only articles about the top capital gains rate going up. So, if anybody knows;

Lets say a person has $60,000 in net taxable income and lives in CA. They sell a Commercial real estate investment property for 500k. They have a cost basis of 250k so a net long term capital gain of 250k.

What will the state & fed capital gains come to at that income level?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Remember when people cared about pregnant women?

My daughter told her employer she was pregnant, and a couple weeks later they laid her off, so she lost her insurance and had to get COBRA, which is $1000 / month, hard to pay with no job. Now, 2 months later they're denying her unemployment because she hasn't tried to get another job, seriously she's 6 months pregnant, no chance anyone would hire her, and the same day she gets a notice from her OBGYN they're dropping her because COBRA doesn't pay doctors enough.

Seriously, how do these people sleep at night? Is there no end to the sleaze people are capable of?

Sorry, I just needed to vent. This nation has become truly pathetic.

  • SSD formatted to wrong size?

I had a 64GB SSD. I bought a new 128GB SSD. I used the windows 7 backup and restore feature to make a mirror of my drive onto the new drive but when I switched them it had set the new drive up as 64GB.

How do I get this straightened around where I have all 128 available but still have my drive mirrored on there?

    Thanks.

  • What is involved in a US citizen immigrating to Canada?

If I sell my property in the US, pay all the capital gains taxes on it and buy a place in Canada, what's involved?

Is there a tax or problem moving my money out of the US or into Canada?

Do pursue citizenship or can I stay as a resident alien? Or will they tell me to head back to the US at some point?

    Thanks in advance

  • taxes on sale of farm?

How would this play out tax wise.

My wife and I sell our farm we've had for 15 years in California for 800K. We have a cost basis of 150K. We pay off the 100k mortgage and buy a farm in Kentucky for 400K.

Any help on what the taxes would be and how we could reduce them would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Gun advice from anyone with actual combat experience?

We're 'preppers' thinking about what we'd need to defend our farm if things got ugly and would like some professional advice.

When it comes to all the stuff they bolt on 'assault' rifles these days, what is actually usefull in a real fight? Looking over the farm everything would be 0-300 yds. We've got SKS's as our base rifle. (CA, so lots of restrictions) There are a million after market mods for them.

    Flashlight?

    Folding stock?

Scope? Sights? What kind for our distance?

    Bayonet?

    Laser?

    Bi-pod?

What matters in the real world and what doesn't?

    Thanks in advance

  • Can an off grid solar system be used without batteries when the sun is up?

If I had an appropriately sized DC-AC inverter can I just use it directly like a generator?

If so, what would happen if say a cloud passed over and the load exceeded the input wattage. Would it be a sort of a brown out deal or would the inverter / solar panels be hurt?

    Thanks!

  • How much paint would I need to put a coat on a Jeep Grand Cherokee?

I've got an old 98 jeep grand Cherokee that I use fro towing my trailer once in a while. It's not worth a real paint job but it's embarrassing to drive with the paint all messed up like it is. I don't need it looking fancy, just better for a few more years. I've got the sprayers & everything and I was thinking about slapping a coat of paint matching the original color on there. I've painted lots of things just never a car.

How much paint should I order?

    Thanks!

  • Computer not seeing ram? Other issues?

So my system has been acting up lately, I've had several blue screen events. I'm pretty sure it's not a virus, ran several scans with several anti-virus programs.

When it crashed, I opened the case and there was an error code that indicated a problem with the ram in slot 2. I have 4 slots of dual chanel ram, so I removed the pair or ram sticks, slot #2 & #4 This may have fixed the problem, too soon to tell.

Here's where it gets weird. What I have in there is 2 sticks of DDR3 16 GB each for a total of 32GB. (I had 64). But when I go to computer/ system, it only shows 8GB of ram? How is that possible with 2 16GB sticks? Also, now my computer is noticeably faster since removing the suspect sticks, and I ran 'windows experience' and it went up to 6.7 lowest score from 6.4.

And, I'm running an SSD which was almost at capacity and suddenly is now half full?

    WTF?

    Thanks in advance.
