  • Is there a good place to find listings for odd jobs I can do this weekend in my area since I actually have some time off from work?

I tried craigslist. Didn't find anything. I live in a major city. I would think there would be some great sites to post jobs available. Anything from cleaning, or helping somebody movie, or something. Just a short odd job I can do over the weekend to rake in some extra cash and not be bored. Thanks!

  • If I buy winter tires, what do I do with the set of tires I'm not currently using?

I have a small car and live in an apartment. If I go with winter tires this year, what options do I have as far as storing the set of tires I'm not using and transporting the tires to and from the tire center if I have to do that? I have a 2013 Corolla. Not even sure if I'd fit 1 tire in my car.

  • Trade in my current car, or hold on to it and continue on my current loan?

Interested to see what some other people think.

I currently have a 2013 Corolla S with just over 9k miles on it. I haven't driven it much, as you can tell, and am very happy with it except for it's handling in the winter with the hills we have around here. I would like to get a car with AWD. I am looking at going back to school too, and if I do, it will mean I'll be doing a lot more driving. So my question is, does it make more sense for me to trade that car in and get a new car since the miles are so low right now? The way I see it, is the value is just going to drop every year I hold on to it and I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense to trade in now and have the AWD car I really want especially if I need to get to school or just stick with what I've got.

I'm almost halfway in my 6 year loan. KBB said my trade in value is 14k. Car was 20k new. Total loan started at 24k I think. Remaining balance on loan is 13k. So I have a ballpark figure 1k in equity as it sits right now. This is assuming my numbers are correct.

One thing I should note, although I did have the extended warranty on the car, I lost it because I didn't keep up the maintenance only because I had to keep my car in my garage for 8 months as my license was medically suspended for a seizure I suffered. Other then that the car is immaculate, in perfect working order. It's garaged, I clean and wax it regularly.

  • Did I mess up my car battery trying to help jump another car? Jump start question.?

I made a total bone headed mistake. I've jump started several cars before just fine. I have a 2 year old Toyota Corolla. I offered to jump a Hyundai SUV on my break at work today. I know black is negative, red is positive.

I hooked up her dead car battery first. The terminal that was covered on hers was completely black so I thought it was the negative one. So I put the negative on that one and the positive on the other side which had no cover without thinking the positive terminal is always the one covered. Then I put it on my car on the correct terminals and sparks started mild as I was trying to connect them then got so hot and intense it partially melted the terminals on my jumper cables and sparks were shooting everywhere for like a solid 6 or 10 seconds. I disconnected fast because of the smell of burning and the melting jumper cables.

Upon rechecking, her positive terminal cover was black, but on the top you could barely see it had a red circle with a plus on it so I had it hooked up backwards on her dead battery and correctly on mine. I thought I was going to start a fire when I had done it. When I realized what I'd done wrong I switched the leads on her battery and I got her started and on her way.

My car was making a weird sound when the spark started flying, and the fact that the terminals started to melt off while sparking like crazy scared the hell out of me. I'm worried I could have done damage to her or my car.

  • My new car grinds the gear shifting into reverse???? Why?

I bought a 2013 Corolla S and it's a 5 speed stick in October. I've never have problems for the forward 5 gears but for some reason when I shift to reverse, even though I have the clutch firmly to the floor, it grinds the gear lately, only 3 times so far but still... It has also been hard to shift into that gear sometimes. It doesn't always happen. I have a warranty on my car. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I'm going to have Toyota check it when I take it in but I can't figure out why the 5 forward gears work fine, but reverse is giving me trouble....

  • Cleaning and disinfecting my chair question.?

Okay tried asking this once. Let me try another way since I go no answers.

My nephew had an accident and pooped in my chair. What should I use to clean it? It's cloth and I need something that isn't going to ruin the color but I do need something to disinfect it. Any recommendations?

  • Manual Transmission. Accidentally shifted into 2nd instead of 4rth. Seems to be okay, should I worry?

Last night I was sick and tired and driving home from work. I should have probably called off from work but I went. I guess when I was accelerating on the expressway I was about 1500 rpm from red line on my corolla and instead of hitting fourth I popped it into 2nd. The needle went all the way to max rpm and I went flying forward, it was only about a second if that before I smashed the clutch back in. I imagine it was cranking over 8 thousand revs for that short time and I never hit the gas. It seems to be running just fine, but should I take it to the shop to have it checked out? I was freaking out, it's my first manual and the first and only time I've ever done that!

  • Manual Transmission Question about Reverse.?

I just bought my first brand new car. I bought a 2013 Corolla S Toyota. It's been challenging getting used to starting off, but one thing has me worried. My other friend that bought a stick had a safety switch to prevent accidental shifting to reverse when moving forward. The gear box is so close together I work instead of downshifting from 5th down to 4rth, someday I might accidentally go into reverse. Does anybody know if there is a safety device in place to prevent you from doing this? I've been letting out slow on the clutch while I've been getting used to it to make sure I'm in the right gear. Would it cause bad damage if it did actually happen? That was my other question. Thanks!

  • Who are you voting for and why?

Just curious. IMO I'm not wasting my time deciding if I'm going to vote for a giant douche or a terd sandwich. I've lost total faith in our government. If there was an independent running I would, but nah, Republicans and Democrats all seem to be just as wasteful with our tax dollars. I'm not voting this year. Hell with it.

  • Working at Target currently cashier, but possible cross train to electronics?

I was hired as seasonal, and due to my background (heavy in electronics) they expressed interest in cross training me into electronics. I was hired on as a cashier, and have sold as many as 9 red cards, as little as 4 per day since I got hired on since I'm good at selling. My question is, what kind of work do they do in the electronics department. I love working there. Interested to hear from team members who have or do work there. Thanks!

  • Complex question. Bank Account, withdrawing money, family member in hospital.?

This is a very complicated question. We are in a difficult situation right now and would appreciate any insight you could give.

We have tried going to professionals and contacting state officials, but keep hitting road blocks. In short, my aunt is hospitalized and unresponsive. Before she became unresponsive, we were given permission by her to take money out of her bank account for her son, but now we are unable to do that for her because we can't get power of attorney.

She and her son (both of whom are adults) are mentally handicapped, and receive benefits from the state because they aren't capable of holding a job. Since my aunt was the executive payee for her son, both their checks were electronically deposited into her bank account in her home town.

She has been in the hospital for the past month because they had to do emergency surgery to save her life. She is now incapacitated and unresponsive. We do not have power of attorney. We thought they might be able to bring her out of it before, but it's looking more and more like she isn't going to make it. She's been on a respirator for over 2 weeks, and her condition is becoming worse.

We had her permission verbally before she underwent the operation to give her son his state aid from her bank account, but we weren't able to get a power of attorney in time. We do have her bank card though and her pin number. If we were to withdraw the funds from the atm to give to her son, could we get in trouble?

We have tried contacting the social security department and their case worker and they keep telling us there is nothing they are able to do for my cousin because the money was already deposited into my aunt's account. We don't have, and can't get a power of attorney (because all she has been doing is laying and staring without moving for the past couple weeks), and we have already spoken with the bank. They told us they can't do anything without a power of attorney.

So if we withdrawal the money with the pin my aunt gave us, can we get in trouble? That is the real question. My cousin needs his money because he is moving away (I remind you all he is mentally retarded and doesn't understand).

  • Cell Phone Battery Life Samsung Galaxy S?

Just got this phone 4 months ago. I take it off the charger and the battery life is down a quarter of the way within 10 minutes? I checked the task manager and nothing is ever running. How is this possible?? Anyone else have this problem in such a short time? I used to be able to make it at least a 2 full days on 1 charge.

  • What does this command mean from Revolutionary war?

I watched The Patriot and was curious what it meant when military line stops and prepares to fire. Specifically when they give the order to dress ranks right before they make ready and fire. Does anyone know? Just curious. Thanks!

  • How long does it take to get over Alcohol Withdraw?

I'm 28 years old, and I've been binge drinking every night for a very long time. Somehow I managed to still make it to work each day but felt hung over and sick every day. So I'd go back and drink to make the feeling go away and the cycle just basically continued. To put it into retrospect, I was consuming a whole 1.75 liter bottle of 100 proof vodka every 2 days at the peak. I decided I had a problem because it was starting to affect my work and I'd be so bad I'd pass out on the floor instead of sleeping in my bed. Last night was the first night I slept in it in well over a week.

My last drink was yesterday morning. When I would go to work in the past I noticed I felt shaky until I was able to get home and get a drink. So far I've felt really sick to my stomach, almost like it's on fire as well as nausea. I was dry heaving this morning for a while, I feel extremely shaky (I can't even hold my hands steady and am having difficulty typing it's so bad), and I almost feel disoriented. So far it's been a little over 24hrs.

Could anybody who has experienced this in their life please tell me how long I can expect these symptoms to last? I feel absolutely miserable. I was not expecting it to be THIS bad. Either way I'm going to see this through. I know I was on a dangerous path, but I intend to change that.

Anyway I'd really appreciate any advice and information about it from someone that's experience it or knows what I'm dealing with. Thank you very much and sorry if this question is poorly structured. I'm very out of it and am having trouble putting thoughts together.

  • I just got a new cell phone. Do I need antivirus application for it?

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S, which is a droid phone on Verizon Wireless Network. I was checking out some of the apps on the market and I saw one that was an antivirus software app with great reviews. The last phone I had was 5 years old. This is all new to me. I'd never heard of cell phones getting viruses.

My question is, should I get antivirus software for my phone? Or is it something that I'll likely not have to worry about. I only use my web browser once in a while if I need to find something around me. I don't really use it to surf and explore the net much.

    Thanks!

  • Question for Liberals and Conservatives regarding the deficit in the U.S.?

As an Independent voter with mixed views on certain issues. I'm all for lower taxes, less regulation, and more freedom. However there are certain issues I agree with on the left. And I hate the way we only get to hear from the 2 main parties during debates.

The simple fact is that Ross Perot scared the Democrats and Republicans so they decided to come together and fix the future Presidential debates in the early 90's so that we would only hear from the big two parties. I think Jessie Ventura says it best when he says it's come down to a selection between Coke and Pepsi. I say let the people decide. The more the better. Furthermore there needs to be term limits. You go in, you come out, and you're done. There is far too much corruption in Washington, as much of us know. That's all I'm going to say on that though. That said:

To the Conservatives that complain about spending money on universal health care (which I believe is the right of every citizen on a fair and balanced tax across all classes and should always be for taxes) and the latest stimulus package (which I was against as well) worsening the deficit I ask this:

Why is it okay that we fund wars that should have never happened (Vietnam, the 2 Iraq wars, Korea), maintain way too many military bases all over the globe in several regions, and continue to police the world, and give away lots of money in foreign aid (in all fairness, the Dems are bad too in this regard). It's come to the point where it almost doesn't matter which party you choose. They both spend about the same in the end, but we can't afford to run this empire (not to mention, we shouldn't be interfering with other countries affairs unless it is a threat to us, period). Face it, Obama and Bush put our country far deeper into debt.

To the Democrats who complain that we need these huge stimulus packages and government jobs, strict regulations, high taxes to impede growth in the private sector, running a welfare state, and bailing out companies.

Are you okay with the fact that our children and generations to come are going to have to pay for this if they even have a country anymore? Don't you think it's time to take a good look at ourselves and see what's really important? Big government is not the answer. We need to cut costs and cut them now.

In the end, a good start would be to bring all our troops home and close all our foreign bases. Do you see other countries with bases in Turkey, Germany, Cuba, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, South Korea, Italy, Israel, Iraq, and Bulgaria to name just some? Mark my words. If we continue on this course, we will follow in the Romans footsteps. We've overstretched ourselves plain, and simple.

I look forward to hearing from your responses. Interested to see how others feel.
