  • What dating sites have you joined or are worth joining?

My friends and I were discussing this the other day. Their suggestions; eHarmony, Match, POF, FarmersOnly, Christian Mingle, DateMySchool, etc. I argued that they are all pretty similar and have largely the same pool of candidates to draw from. I am interested to hear of other people's opinions. Are "free," or less expensive apps better than signing up and paying subscription fees to sites?

  • What do you think of this social experiment?

My friends and I had a discussion about online dating websites and the role of attraction. To test this we made 2 almost identical profiles. However, profile #1 had a picture of my friend with her aviator sunglasses and her doing a kissing face. #2 Profile had a picture of her with her eyes open and smiling. Profile #1 received 455 views, 105 likes, while Profile #2 received 100 views and only 50 likes. Interesting 25 of the guys "liked" both of her profiles. My friend was kind of sad about that. What do you think of this social experiment?

  • Does this sound like a stomach ulcer or something more serious?

My male friend is reporting that he has pain like 2 inches left & 1 inch high of their belly button? I think he may have a stomach ulcer as the symptoms just began, but he seems worried it is something more serious? He doesn't have health insurance and is worried about going to the ER for it.

  • Would you reply to a love letter from a friend you don't feel the same way about?

My male friend that is currently in the friend zone sent me this love letter in the mail. I don't know if I should send him a honest response, ignore it, or just send a "thank you," card. We don't text, but we do message each other online sometimes. We've been friends since August, and his birthday is at the end of this week. He lives several states away from me.

  • Can you use a 2015 Forever stamp to mail a letter today?

The price of a United States Post Office stamp increased from .47 cents to .49 cents yesterday. I was wondering if I stuck mail into the mailbox today, if the USPS would still honor the "Forever Stamp." I heard that the Forever stamp will still be honored until/when it is increased to a total of $1.50? Does anyone know if these two questions are true? I will reward points to the best answer!

  • Have you ever used a taxi service?

I am wondering if anyone has used a taxi service and what method you used to pay the cab driver? I am thinking cash would be best since I need to picked up/dropped off twice. Bonus questions: Do you make them wait during your appointment or do you call them two separate times?

  • What do you think would be a better interview time?

I applied for a Resident Assistant position at a well known University. The interview committee has two times available this week: 1:00PM Wednesday, October 26, or 10:00AM on Friday, October 28. My questions are; 1. considering I live 45 minutes away from the location and it takes 42 minutes to get there would it be better to schedule the 1 or 10 p.m. appointment considering traffic is about the same at either time. 2. I have only been to this location once, do you think it would be better to schedule the interview in the afternoon to allocate for extra drive time? 3. I am thinking about scheduling the Friday apt, but I want to know your thoughts. Thanks!

  • Is it best to pay off loans right away?

I just received my FedLoan service papers and it states I can except to pay off my loans in 10 years or I can ask to be placed on an independent deferment plan and receive loan forgiveness in 20 years? They payments are relatively low $70, but are expected to double in a few years? I currently have less than $10,000 in student loan debt. Also it suggests I pay online using direct payment? For bonus question; do you write checks or use direct payment to pay off your loans?

  • Does this seem normal for working in a DOC facility?

My local jail has an open position for someone to fill commissary orders, but they don't want to do in person interviews. Instead they want a virtual Skype interview, along with me sending them a certified background check and completing and sending them fingerprints. The whole interview thing seems strange to me, as I live relatively close to this DOC facility and wouldn't they want to meet someone in person rather that on Skype? Please offer advice.

  • How do you convert college semester hours for job application?

For a job application it asks me to list the college semester hours* you received in your major and minor. *Please list hours as semester hours. (Convert quarter hours to semester hours by multiplying the quarter hours by 2/3.) However in my major (Social Work) I completed over 120 credits (with some of these credits double counting for my minor in Human Relations. I also completed a 500 hour internship, do I include that as college hours too as that was technically graded as a field clinician passing grade?

  • Do you think this is a reasonable reason to cancel a job interview?

I have waited 3 months to receive a call from this company. The director finally called me on Friday saying he wanted to meet 'next Tuesday' but he didn't specify if he meant the 23rd or the 29th. He called me on his personal cell phone and not the company phone. He also told me to meet at 8:30 a.m. and then rudely hung up. I looked up recent reviews of the company and they have received bad reviews, with people warning not to work for them! I don't know if I should call his cell phone back or leave an e-mail or a message on the company phone system. This company is located about 50 miles from my house. Please answer what you would do!

  • Should I cancel this job interview? It is stressing me out!?

After waiting to hear back from this job position for 3 months, they finally called me back and the interviewer called me back on his cell phone, instead of a company phone. He called this Friday asked if I was available for an interview "next Tuesday", but he didn't clarify if that means the 23rd or the 29th? He also rudely ended the phone call saying "Perfect. Bye." then hung up on me. I have found some recent reviews that this company is kind of sketchy, and now I am rethinking about whether or not I actually want to work for them. Would sending an e-mail or a phone call be inappropriate?

  • How would you bring this up with your children?

Yesterday, my sister received a frantic phone call from her daycare provider to come pick up my niece, 3. When she arrived, there were parents everywhere picking up their children. When my sister picked up my niece, the daycare lady informed her that one of the other kids she watched had died of respiratory pneumonia. This was extremely upsetting to me, since I had spoken with the child that died only 3 days previously when I visited the daycare to pick up my niece. The daycare lady informed the parents that she had told the children that their friend had "gone on a vacation, and there was an accident, and she won't be coming back to daycare". While, I agree this was probably an appropriate phrase to use with toddler age children, now I am worried what type of exposure the children experienced while in the daycare. Several of the parents that my sister talked to said they were not going to take their kids to the doctor, since they thought there is no real danger. I am wondering if you as a parent, would look into other daycares or continue to let your child attend this daycare.

When asked what safety precautions were used, the daycare lady said she had used Lysol to disinfect surfaces around the house.
