Should I count the calories of sugar free gum?
I count every calorie I put in my body. I was wondering if I should still count the calories from the sugar free gum which is 5 per piece. Some people tell me I'm not really consuming them because I'm not fully eating it.

I don't think it's necessary to count the calories from the sugar free gum because you're probably burning up those calories just by chewing the gum or talking and chewing at the same time.

Well...if you really want to count the calories of sugar free gum, you should. No matter what, your adding calories to your body and if you want to keep to a minmum calories, do not chew gum. Eat food, and don't waste calories on the gum.

You are burning more than 5 calories by chewing it..I think I would count it as a wash.
By the way...just curious..why do you count every calorie...isn't that time consuming and frustrating?

If you're trying to be EXACT in what you're taking in, yes, you would count the calories in the gum. You don't have to swallow it in order to intake the calories! They come from the stuff that is sucked out of the gum and you do swallow that, right?
Source(s): Though it would be correct to count them it's a bit anal to include those 5 calories Give yourself a break!! Wao, I got the stars for a word I included.. left the "o" out of count!!! Yikes! - ₪ڠYiffniff ڠ₪Lv 52 decades ago
I wouldn't count every calorie, unless you're on an extreme diet or something. That would be a ton of work. One calorie, two calorie...

Actually the calories you gain from gum, you burn the same amount while chewing the gum.
