Where in Britain do we report suspected attempts of internet fraud, phishing, etc.?

Recently received an unsolicited email for unlimited "satellite TV" via computer for a one-off payment of $40 to be sent on a webpage that isn't secure. This is obviously a scam and they're phishing for credit cards.

I want to report them to Police, but have no confidence in getting a serious response from my local office out here in the stix.

Anyone know who I should contact? Is it the Met in London?

Thanks folks.

The FBI has an internet fraud division but most of the types of e-mails you are talking about are large organizations that even though you tracked them to a certain address they probably eithjer won't be there when they go to investigate or they find that some poor unsuspecting user had their e-mail compromised and their e-mail addy was stolen and used to send spam mail. so do like the rest of us when you know its a fraud delete it and go on with your life or make your e-mail spam settings so high that these never get into you active e-mail box.

My husband was recently the victim of a Paypal fraud - we reported it to the fraud squad (local constabulary) and they took it very seriously - even sent someone to interview him. Hubby got his money back and I was relieved to discover that the police DO take this sort of crime seriously.

I'd advise reporting it, even if no damage was done.

The e-mail is evidence of an attempt to 'commit a crime'. Take that and all other suspect information to your local Police Station and 'SEE A REAL LIVE COPPER' .

Where? is your local police station. That is WHERE you go.

Of course the police will investigate Internet Fraud. It is still a crime that has been committed.

Don't bother just bin it. There are forums you can tell everyone about it on but the Police aren't interested
