Who are the 28%?
Who still think Bush is doing a good job? They have to know more Americans have died in Iraq than on 9/11, gas prices are at record highs as are oil company profits, salaries are at all time lows (except for CEO's)... There is simply no concievable way that someone in touch with reality can continue to support the Bush administration!

Maybe it's the ones who believe it's really important to have several stable representative governments in the Middle East.

the President has a limit influence on gas prices
OPEC / the market set the price, not the president
salaries reflect what people are willing to take
if you do not like your salary
change jobs
some jobs pay well due to the lack of personal in the field
so an employer pays accordingly to demand of the market
we live in a for profit government and thus it's better that a corporation profits, then to suffer financially ( look at the big 3 American automakers ) and then be forced to lay off thousands of workers. Keep in mind that the labor unions brought on their own demise by holding US automakers hostage each time contracts came up. None of the Japanese automakers with factories here in USA are union, nor is Walmart. Nor should they be. People complain about Walmart, yet they stay there and an employee. So the 28% may reflect those who hold the course of the party, and the rest may reflect disillusionment, which is fine, our democracy allows for dissent and differing opinion. but considering congress is now mostly democratic is fool hardly ot blame all of our countries ills on him and the Republican party and if the democrats get a president elected it will be solely their command of the US ship to run into the ground with higher taxes and or more socialized spending and more liberal policies. One day you might pine back to the 28% and see them as somewhat visionary when gas prices are $5.50 a gallon, taxes are higher than ever, alternative fuels are a farce ( due to associated high cost ), mass transit is a expensive boondoggle and a failure, welfare roles increases due to more single mothers ( and not immigration as so many believe ), unemployment is up and we are in full blown recession.

A reply to Mike W.
In politics it is all about majority.
Majority is what gets the bills passed, majority is what gets a President into an office. Majority is something that can throw the President out of the office.
So I say Yes, I must agree with the Majority of the nation while saying that I disagree with the Presidents current actions in Iraq.
We are not ignoring what the 28% have to say, but the reason it has dropped from 58 to 28 is because the same people who once thought he was right, are starting to loose interest in him.

Speaking on behalf of the alleged 28%, not necessarily for them, I'd like to ask this? Are we only allowed to have an opinion if we agree with the majority? If these 28% think that the president is doing a good job, then that's their opinion, being called ignorant and out of touch with reality will not change one's opinion.

Well, watching loads of mainstream news will do that for the 72%. Which, by the way, is not 72% of the whole american adult population but only of those who voted. And how many voted? Only 50%.

I am very happy they are only 28%; it takes 30% to overthrow a nation.
Who are they? Go take a shovel and start digging in the sand. You will be bound to find some heads!
