If she is a widow or divorced from your brother and you both were consenting then there would be no legal reason why you couldn't get married. But, if she is divorced do you not think this union might cause major turmoil in the family from her ex-husband (your brother!) and your parents, in fact most of your extended family might take a very negative view of this. Would it be worth it to be ostracized from your entire family? Even if you did love her this might be too high a price to pay. If you then had any children they too might be expelled from your family through absolutely no fault of their own. This seems like a recipe for disaster. On the other hand if she is the widow of your brother, your parents and rest of the family might take a different view and look favourably on your marriage.

Does she live in the UK. If she is somewhere else it might be more difficult. Oh and is she still married to your brother? That might cause a problem also.

IF she's your sister-in-law that means she must've married your brother. In which case, she cannot be married twice. So until they divorce, you'll have to wait.
