How to tell someone?

Never, ever tell an angry drunk that you want a divorce. I would suggest leaving the house and leaving a note behind. That might be the safest thing to do. If you run into problems with him, spend the night at a women's shelter. Then tell his family what you are having to do. That might help some, but it might make things worse. Take care of yourself above all else. A drunk will do things that they would not normally do. Watch your back and your front. If he's drunk, leave or lock yourself in the bedroom. I wouldn't tell him to his face at all, but would let my attorney do it for me.

If he is that out of control why did you wait so long....

Tell him you need some time to get your head together...and go away with some girlfriends for a few days(he will feel alot more secure if you go with some friends) talk to him about his drinking and that maybe he could use a therapist...

Tell him you want to clean up your life and have more positive things in....maybe he will see this as a last call.....

I am 1 year divorced from a drunk.Please tell him sober that your not happy maybe you can give it a fair shot if he realizes what he may loose.Your not being honest with him if he has no idea he is loosing you it's because you pretend everything is fine.so let him know how you feel before you just ask for the divorce

Tell him that you are worried about his drinking and it is destroying your marriage. Tell him you are worried for his safety. Tell him that he has to make a major change in his life and because you love him, you are telling him so he can see the way alcohol is destroying his life. Tell him that if he can't stop drinking, you want a divorce. Give him a chance to see that he has that drinking problem and he can't easily stop. Then try to steer him into rehab to save his life and rebuild your relationship with him.

prepare in advance. get the basics out of your house. essentials you need and valuable and sentimental items. have a place to go. have some money set aside. be prepared to hear him say all the words you have been wanting to hear. don't fall for it. you know he will go back to his old ways. tell him when he is calm. maybe when he is at work. do it by phone. catch him off guard and run for the hills. be prepared to file a restraining order, if necessary.

most definately not when he is drunk. The best time for something like this is when he is sober, and in a right thinking frame of mind, so that things could be comprehended.

Have someone with you when you do decide to tell, just don't wait until he's drunk, make sure he's sober.

Take him to a friends house and tell him that way you are safer if he has a baby fit

When he is away...change the locks on the door...Box up his belongings...Leave everything on the front porch for him...He'll get the message...

tell him when he is sober but also have someone with you so he cannot hurt you
