Why do people want to call Obama an elitist because he speaks proper english?
I mean really, has America been so damaged by Bush's shortcomings in the english department that we would down someone who can actually speak properly? They have been trying to convince him to lighten up on the textbook sentences. Fearing that he will be considered an elitist. But he refuses and will continue to speak properly (good for him). Unbelievable.
By the way Mutt:
"His crowd of friends is professors, politicians, and rich snobs. "
Proper grammar "are" instead of "is".

For some reason speaking properly, going to college, doing good and taking care of your own makes an elitist...ironic...
Edit: It appears I have struck a nerve...

Annnnnnd annnnnd un uh and un uh uuuh anddd and does not equate to fluidity in language, nor does it show eloquence. Speaking properly is not the first thing that comes to mind regarding his speech patterns. Linguistically, he slides back and forth in language patterns. Notice when he is trying to come up with an answer to any question, it is filled with lots of uh uh uh umm ummm. Then review the unscripted answer that usually says absolutely nothing. Personally, I think it shows an unknowingly person who is trying to cover up his lack of knowledge. Interestingly, you never have heard him say that he knows nothing about any subject. He is an arrogant, pretentious know-it-all.
Obama "talks about himself in the 3rd person singular or uses the regal "we" and craves to be the exclusive center of attention, even adulation."
Obama "Displays false modesty and unctuous "folksiness" but is unable to sustain these behaviors (the persona, or mask) for long. It slips and the true Obama is revealed: haughty, aloof, distant, and disdainful of simple folk and their lives."
He is a pretender, a charlatan, a fake.........it is only a charade of class..he has none. Compare him to Colin Powell...now, who has real class that isn't just a put-on air? Who speaks well too.. The answer, Colin Powell.
Lighten up on what textbook sentences? He hasn't said anything that bamboozled me, did he you? If you didn't understand what he said, it was meant to be that way. That is why no one can figure out what he means, and they try to analyse it to death. Just step back and realize he didn't say anything. Period.
I do find it quite humorous that you think you know who his friends are...that is a joke. Do tell where you found that information. We have noticed that quite a few of his associates and friends are radicals...and several he threw right under that oncoming bus.
It is hard to defend an imagined image, isn't it.

First we didn't like him because he was a Democrat. Then we didn't like him because he was black. Then we didn't trust him because we're a bunch of paranoid rednecks. Now we don't like him because his English is a little too prissy? Anything but the real reason: Barack Obama is an arrogant, condescending, lying, inexperienced phony who has never managed so much as a convenience store and whose political background consists of a partial term in the Senate. And who is already posing in front of the American flag outlining his economic plans before he's even been sworn in! We don't care if he's green with purple spots and talks like the Queen of England, honey. He's a political, economic, national security, race relations nightmare waiting to happen.

He is considered an elitist due to his being groomed by then eccepted by the far left Dem's who think they know better than the rest of us hicks. Big city slickers that never had to work in there life that like to smoke pot and laugh at the common man who works for a living.
Trust me Obama is most envious of a man like Bush. He is a real America loving soul. If you ever had the chance to speak with Bush or meet anyone that has, they would tell you he is overwhelmingly intelligent and hospitable. Much more than the reaction Joe the plumber got from the disgrace you call president elect. Obama is a phony and is in the process of being exposed as such. But you'll never know because main stream media shall never cover any gaffes or mishaps. Just look at his cabinet. It's not Original or Hopeful nor is it change. You fools have been duped

I think it is a little more than just his English! America has been damaged by Bush's english ? What are you smoking! Have you listened to half the people under the age of thirty in this nation ? Thousands of young people don't speak proper English. As far as Obama it has more to do with the fact that he is arrogant and rich, I can believe how many people he is a working American. I did hear Obama gave a speech in the south where he was talking down to the poor blacks and it was disgusting!

It takes a lot of chutzpah for McCain to call Obama an elitist. Guess McCain lives in the "cone of silence" and Cindy didn't tell him home many houses he owns. It makes for great comedy - doesn't it?

He is an Elitist because his ego will not fit in a normal size room (hence the stadium acceptance speech). Besides last time I checked, without his "Precious", know to normal people as a teleprompter, he shutters and stammers like the village idiot. If he is such a smart or thoughtful person, he should already know what he believes and how to say it as opposed to trying to figure out what people want to hear while he's trying to answer a simple question. At this point, no questions are ABOVE his pay grade.

Anyone in Obama's position will have adversaries. Not everyone will become his friend, like it or not, not everyone thinks about him the way you do.They will find ways to pick him apart, and if criticizing his choice of words is effective, that's the plan they will use.
Get used to it, Barack has an uphill battle for acceptance. he needs to do something pretty spectacular to get the hold outs to come over to his side, and some never will.
What I find interesting is the racial issue has really quieted down. Oh sure, there are comments made everyday, but not nearly as many. People seem to be settling in to the fact that we will now have a black president. I see this as a positive sign, yet I believe most voters are taking a wait and see attitude.

I don't think most people consider him an elitist because of his speech. Actions are what speak louder than words. We shall see soon enough what the future holds.

Wow, someone has you convinced that his speech has something to do with him being considered an elitist, they must be well informed and knowledgeable. About as much so as many who voted for him. True they want him to speak more like the individuals in the city he came from so that more would have been deceived by thinking he is really one of them. You did get the unbelievable part of your comment correct.
