I feel like im losing faith?

Im 15 and have been a strong christian for all my life up to about 6 months ago. I feel like my faith is struggling in that i find it hard to believe that god is actually real because it defies human nature in all that i learn in school. I go to church mostly every week, i really want to believe in God because in my heart I know that He is really up, but my brain keeps telling me no, its not possible. Is there anything that I can do, is there anything that physically explains that gods true?

Just remember that those are only feelings. God is a fact. Keep reading your Bible and stay in fellowship with believers. That is one of the reasons that God made the Body of Christ for us, so that when we are in a dry time we have our brothers and sisters in Christ to bear witness to us and love us.

Also, keep in mind that the love that your family and friends have for you are gifts from God and evidence of His goodness, it is important for you to thank God for them every day, no matter how you feel.

There was a famous inscription found in a WWII prison cell after the war.

    I believe in the sun

    Even when it isn't shining

    I believe in love

Even when there's no one there

    And I beleive in God

    Even when He is silent.

Just FYI, most Priests have a minimum of the equivalent of a Masters degree, Bishops and Cardinals Usually have multiply degrees above that.

Mainstream ministers and pastors have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in college and many have more education than that.

  • Dear Friend,

I too have struggled to remain faithful to my beliefs. There is a reason you are questioning the things that you are. Is the reason you have remained a Christian for so long, because that is what was taught and not to question what was said? Now that you are a young adult, you have the means to question. That is fine, it is not losing your faith, you are just becoming more aware of the things around you. Our goals of human existence is to question everything around us. Including the very things that we believe in and that shape us into what we are today. Everyone needs something to believe in, including Atheists. They believe that there is no higher power. More power to them. Religion and beliefs are part of our morals. Our role models. As a Christian, you look to the life of Jesus and learn from the lessons and stories that are told in the Bible. Be strong, if I remember correctly, even Jesus was tempted and questioned himself the ways. It's okay. You are human after all.

As for the physical evidence that God exists, a wise friend once told me, "If you can feel the wind, see the stars, taste the rain upon your lips, hear the thunder, you may start to wonder, who started it all."

You will find the path that is right for you. It may not always be the same path that you are on now, but it will be okay. I promise. :)

Good Luck (and sorry for all the rambling)

According to the Bible, we can't know God by logic. God is supernatural and faith is a supernatural gift from Him. Sin can break down our faith. We need to stay close to God by being a Christian, reading the Bible often, going to church, prayer, fellowship with other Christians, etc. God is love and the heart focus is primary over the mind focus. Loving God and others is our primary mission in this world as Christians.

Your feelings are natural and normal. Perhaps this will help: faith is a gift from God to you, not something that you generate in yourself. If you feel your faith growing weak, there are two things you can do: (1) expose yourself every day to the Word of God (the Bible). Read the Gospel of John, for example - a chapter every day, and (2) when you pray, ask God to strengthen your faith. It is okay to admit to God that you have doubts. He will answer this prayer over time. Finally, keep in mind that it is human nature for humans to think that they have everything figured out. But the truth is, they don't. If you look at what was "scientific truth" in the 16th century, by the 17th century, people believed something totally different -- and this will happen with "today's" scientific truth. What does not change is God. In 1 Corinthians, there is a verse I depend upon daily. It says, "For God has chosen the simple things of this world to confound the wise ... ." This means that in the end, those who depend on their own fantasies and conclusions will find they missed the truth completely.

Just hold on, we have History & Artifacts dear.

As politicians seek to sign away chunks of Israeli territory, the stones cry out about Israel's link to the land and testify of the Bible authenticity.

    For example:

    They found King Solomon's mines.

King Solomon was written about in 1 Kings 7, he had stockpiles of brass, and he used it in construction of the 1st temple.

Even secular records can confirm this, the period, as recorded in 1 Kings 14:25, in which the Bible says Israel and Judah were invaded by Shishak, the Egyptian Pharaoh, who began raiding and conquering much of Palestine beginning around 925 B.C., after Solomon's death. And secular records in Egypt also confirm this, documenting that Shishak's troops occupied the city of Hazevah, which is about 8-miles from the mining complex.

There was a discovery of King David's palace, located just as the Bible described it. Excavations are still ongoing.

My daughter, when she was 16 years old rejected her once strong faith, and said that God is dead in the teen class at church. She got messed up, then came crying back to God when she turned 18, that was 2 years ago, and she has been walking with God profoundly ever since.

In Russia, they taught that God imaginary, the people believed it, and their country fell apart. Now they are welcoming God into their country.

School unfortunately teaches theory that excludes God. Our minds are vulnerable, that's why the attack is always on the mind. Check out some of the Creation Science web sites, or do a search on Dr. Dino! These are sites that don't exclude the flaws in science!

Also, as you read through all the answers, take careful note of the "spirit" that you feel in each answer!

The link below talks about the profound flaws with secular science's theories. Use your intellect, do some research on both views and make an informed decision!

    - Ha Ha Ha Ha - Simple Human Nature = Sin.

    - A Strong Christian all my life ? and you don't know even know the basics ? the smallest of Children even knows that much & your a teenager who claims to have been Spiritually strong. School is meant for the brain, Jesus Christ is meant for your Heart & Life. People don't ask their Schools into their Hearts for good reason. Schools are designed for the 2+2=4 stuff, & how to do well in this world type of stuff. Not to demonically smoke screen out God. Read Geneses Chapter 3 in the O.T. of the Bible yo, Our Grandparents Adam & Eve ate from the Fruit of the tree of knowledge, of the Garden of Eden, which totally Spiritually Handicapped all of us. Naps are for 3rd & 4th period in School, Not Church. Start paying attention during Bible studies, then maybe you will even start passing the starting point of the Wisdom & knowledge of the most Basic of the things of God. Hopefully you go to a Bible teaching Church, and not a Cult like the J.W's or Mormons or Catholic's or the many others that are UnBiblical ...<><...

  • i felt exactly the same as you when i was 16 but i started to examine my religion more. i prayed and read the bible and went to mass. i still do. it's helped me a lot.

living in these times is really hard for someone to be religious or to believe in god, as you will come across a lot of people who will try to put you down but just believing in god and praying will help you. you can't underestimate the power of god's love. he knows you want to be a good a person and believe in him, so it will all work out for you as long as you keep your faith strong.

I know sometimes it seems hard to believe but if you look at all of the things that the Bible says that have ALREADY come to pass... How the world would gain great knowledge and at unimaginable speeds towards the end of times- and you look at how TV, radio, and internet have allowed those capabilities, as well as how you can see how one world government, one world religion, the mark of the beast, etc could be a possibility.

Plus look at how Christianity is the MOST PERSECUTED religion in the WORLD!!! You cannot speak of Christ in school, you cannot put up a manger scene at Christmas time- you can't even sing Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer at school because it has "religious overtones that may affect the children". And you cannot teach your own children what the Bible says is right and wrong without being verbally attacked. Why do you think that Christianity is so threatening to so many?

Like a child we do NOT want to be told that something we are doing is wrong- EVEN if it is- we don't want to have a mirror held up to us that reflects something that we are doing that makes us feel bad about ourselves. That is called conviction and most of us want no part of it. We instead choose to be around people who make us feel good about ourselves and hide beneath things like alcohol, sex, food- anything that will make us feel better even if only for the moment- trust me- I know from experience. I am not trying to convict anyone myself- only speaking from experience.

Satan is going to fight you tooth and nail to try to convince you there is no Christ, No God, that YOU are your own god- even THAT is in the Bible. You know, I look at it this way- I would much rather be wrong and live my life the way God would want me to- than to live a wreck-less life and then discover there really was a God when its too late.

And you know, what does it hurt anybody? I show compassion and love to those around me. I pray and worship God- how am I hurting myself or those around me? I personally have seen too many miracles in my lifetime to NOT believe in Jesus Christ. And I'm telling you- when you have a personal relationship with Christ you CAN feel the Holy Spirit and it is the MOST AMAZING thing ever!

It has been a long journey (I am now 36) and there were times when I had doubts but hang in there- I am sure it is worse for this generation to believe- But you will not be disappointed in the end. Have "faith" :) Good luck to you.

There are times when your faith will drop because our intellect wants answers and they are hard to find. Reason tells us that what we cannot see does not exist. This where blind faith is more valuable because we can also convince ourselves that God does Exist. All we need do is look around and look at what God has created and reason that Humans did not do it and it is to magnificently designed to just exist on it's own, so who created it. I can prove to you that there is life after death, but will you believe it. Jesus said that we are blessed if we see and believe but more blessed by faith that we believe when we cannot see God. Here are a couple web sites to help you decide. My heart cries inside when I hear people don't believe because once I almost gave up God too. I looked for God and found out that he is real for me and that is all that matters. My relationship with God is firm and untouchable. It is my job to help others to see that cannot see on their own right away. I hope this helps.

Well if you're looking for a Christian answer I can't help you. But I can answer giving a Jewish perspective, you see prayer isn't a wishing well, the purpose of prayer is to remind yourself of the Almighty G-d, for we must need to be constantly reminded of Him. Do not worry, G-d is all, and He knows every thought that goes through our mind, and he knows every sparkling tear on every eye lash. As for using prayer for wishes, I never really ask G-d of anything past Him to look over me and the ones I care for, for He knows better than I.
