indep contractor withhold/Soc Sec?

My adult son is getting paid for something via internet (legit). I assume they send a 1099 at end of year. How does he pay Social Security/Medicare taxes in the meantime?

We have been in business for 10 years and have always just filed at the end of the year. You do not necessarily have to do estimated, that really just assists so you can pay thru the year instead of the end of the year. We have so many credits deductions etc it just makes more sense to do it yearly.
