Thoughts on when/how to give food/water to kitty...?

Hi guys. Well, last time I was on I was concerned with my 12 year old cats bacterial ear infection. I called the vet that night and took her in the next morning. She cultured the ear, found some bacteria... not as bad though. Took her off the tresaderm and put her on Animax ointment for the inside of her ears and Clavimox for an antibiodic. Her ears seem to be improving BUT she is not drinking, not eating much (this is since Saturday that she went to the vet but only since yesterday that she just bascially quit moving) she has not yet had a bowel movement today and is tearing at the eyes. They are red and she just looks blank/sad. :0( So... I know she needs water. I gave her about .5 mili and a tiny bit of tuna. She took both but I don't want to overwhelm her or make her sick (nauseous)

With all that said...

has anyone administered these meds before? Did you have some or all of these reactions? Did you administer water/food? How often? What is the reality of what they require? How often do I need to give water/food?

Any info would be helpful. The vet DIDNT WARN ME ABOUT ANY of this.:0(

I'm so sorry that your kitty isn't well

I agree that when they are on antibiotics they do tend to sleep a lot and can be nauseated so they tend to eat less but I think you need to call your vet (even if they are closed ring them to see if they are still available on call for an emergency visit) or if they have a recommendation where you should go to--she sounds rather sick and it sounds like you love her so I would get her to someone if at ALL possible--Good Luck saying a prayer for your kitty--oh and maybe hold off on anymore antibiotics until you can speak to someone maybe she is allergic or something--as the above answerer said!

Sorry my answer must be so short. Call the vet whether they are open or not, use emergency # on their office recording.

I would try to get a least a couple cc.s of liquid in every hour.

When you go back to vet ask for some syringes for force-feeding ( if necc.). Everyone with a cat should have some.

Please do call, you absolutely can talk to a vet now.

    Hope everything is okay.

It's quite normal for cats to lose appetite for a day or two on antibiotics but this sounds quite extreme. I would phone your vet for further details and see if this is normal for these drugs just incase shes having an extreme reaction to them.
