Why ask for salvation in Jesus name?
If Jesus and God are not exactly the same thing and perfectly identical, then there are two Gods or else one of them isn't God. If the trinity belief is right, Jesus must be exactly identical to God. So why ask Jesus for God's forgiveness? Why not just always pray to God? It makes things unnecessarily confusing to call the one God by two different names.
autumn wind - if Jesus is God than he is the Father.
mia diva - If Jesus is God then we are asking him to intercede with himself.

great question
if god and jesus are the same
then this no man comes to father but thru me
is this saying jesus and the father arent one
why not just say come to me
enough said
but what really disgusts me are christians allegedly deciding what god does or doesnt do
what prayers he answers or doesnt answer
do they not get its still up to god not them
i have found so many blogs and websites devoted to prayers that god answers and doesnt answer
my gosh - unless the blogs are literally written by god himself
they are complete bs and misleading and false
i totally agree on confusing
hes god but hes not but he is
he either is or isnt
but someone needs to make up their mind
god the father and god the son
ok is jesus talking to himself
father forgive them for they know not what they do
is he talking to himself or someone else
because i dont refer to myself as someone else
when jesus talked to god
was he talking to himself becuase i was given the impression he wasnt
then again if jesus is god - then he was

The Trinity operates within it self and is best understood as a sealed equation that equals ONE God. And that equation looks like this. The Father, x's the Son, x's the Holy Spirit = ONE GOD! This one equation tells us the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all God, eternal, Holy, invisible, and Just. All decision making is done from within and NO MAN can add any other name or the name of any other God that is recognized from within the God Head or Trinity. Because it was agreed upon before the foundation of the world that Jesus would separate and come into the world we have to use His name ONLY to have access to the Father. This Trinity operates out of the eternal and invisible Kingdom of Christ which is on the east side of the Republican wing and in the Heavenly realm. To use any other name or the name of any other God, is to broadcast to the Father that you have NO respect. Because it is written that no man can come to the Father unless the Son draws you to the Father and no man can come to the Son, unless the Father draws you. That is why the name of Jesus must be used and when it is and there is genuine repentance, the Holy Spirit comes into the heart and leads the convert into the eternal Kingdom which as I said, is beyond the Republican wing. The natural born that descends from the womb head west in the world they build the nations of the world and they go to the eternal past which is hell. The spiritual born, are led east and into the eternal Kingdom to advance the Kingdom on earth and shed light on both eternal Kingdoms. It is life in the flesh or life in the Spirit and not both!

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit make up the holy trinity. You have a valid question. The answer is that Jesus is the only way to heaven. Jesus (fully God AND fully man) came to earth and died on the cross so that HIS blood would cover our sins. Jesus' blood was shed for us. Yes, he was fully God but you have to understand that he was fully man as well and that it is by his BLOOD that we are saved. God the Father didn't shed any of His blood. God the Son did. So we ask forgiveness through the Son who gave his life for us.

You can pray to either God or Jesus and ask for forgiveness from either. Also They both have lots of names. But Jesus is God's son so to speak and was a sacrifice for us( that's why we don't go around slaughtering sheep for God anymore) Therefore God had Jesus save you. Plus we have somewhat of an idea on what Jesus looked like so for some it's easier to picture him and pray. I myself pray to God but when doing certain prayers where you have to picture God or Jesus i picture Jesus. Sorry if this is even more confusing.

* The ransom is Jehovah’s means to deliver humankind from sin and death.—Ephesians 1:7.
* Jehovah provided the ransom by sending his only-begotten Son to earth to die for us.—1 John 4:9, 10.
* By means of the ransom, we gain the forgiveness of sins, a clean conscience, and the hope of everlasting life.—1 John 1:8, 9.
* We show that we appreciate the ransom by getting to know more about Jehovah, by exercising faith in Jesus’ ransom sacrifice, and by attending the Lord’s Evening Meal.—John 3:16.
People around the world have heard something about Jesus Christ, even though he lived on earth some 2,000 years ago. Yet, many are confused about who Jesus really was. Some say that he was merely a good man. Others claim that he was nothing more than a prophet. Still others believe that Jesus is God and should be worshiped. Should he?
3 It is important for you to know the truth about Jesus. Why? Because the Bible says: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3) Yes, knowing the truth about Jehovah God and about Jesus Christ can lead to everlasting life on a paradise earth. (John 14:6) Furthermore, Jesus sets the best example of how to live and how to treat others. (John 13:34, 35) In the first chapter of this book, we discussed the truth about God. Now let us consider what the Bible really teaches about Jesus Christ.

Because Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me. Jesus is our advocate to the Father. You pray to the Father, in Jesus' name. God the Father, will not hear you otherwise.

Ya got it backwards. We come to the Father for forgiveness, citing Jesus sacrifice on our behalf as our right to be received. That's what we mean by "in Jesus' name."

Follow instructions........
It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is
" 'the stone you builders rejected,
which has become the capstone.'Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Acts 4:10-11
Got that? "No other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Again:
"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Romans 10:9-10
God accepts no man except through the intercession of Jesus, the Christ.
But go ahead and try it your way, if you think it will do you any good. It is stubborn rebellion that takes men down to hell, becasue they refuse to listen to the word of God.

Jesus was the sacrificial lamb that was needed to provide us with salvation. Without Him, there is NO forgiveness of sins.
.Hebrews 9:22
And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness
